Okay, before I launch into my rant about this card, allow me to go over the good points. Green has been lacking in "stupidly big creatures" for a while imo, so it's nice to see that gap filled. Perfect name, and the art is breathtaking. Despite this, I have many problems with this card. Firstly, why the hell isn't this thing legendary? You expect me to buy that Ravnica, a flourishing city plane, has MULTIPLES of these things running around? Really. Secondly, I really don't like that this wurm, which has nothing special about it other then the fact that it's massive, is equal to Emrakul, the Aeons Torn, a primordial cosmic destroyer, in strength? That doesn't really add up to me. Emrakul SHOULD be the biggest creature in Magic, and should remain the biggest so that he's special and always holds a place in people's hearts. With this thing, odds are there are more 15/15s or bigger on the way, which means Emrakul is quickly being dethroned. That makes me sad. Finally, why does it split into 3 other wurms? With Wurmcoil Engine it made sense because the Engine is a machine, so of course it's able to split apart into seperate machines. This thing doesn't seem to possess any real way to split apart, being a living organism. Basically, and I hate to say it, but this card is a rather saddening symbol of power creep, yet again. Sure, it's not broken, and yeah, I have to admit it IS kinda cool, but this card being the first to step up to challenge the Emrakul's throne in only two years makes me sad.

Staggeringly powerful in size, able to replace itself upon death, and all around a huge example of Green's strength. Glad it can't really be reanimated effectively.
I do agree that it feels odd that there are multiples of these things running around and that each can challenge a world-ender like Emrakul. On the flip side, this thing is much more fair than the Eldrazi since it doesn't have that mindless Annihilator ability.

@Lord_Of_Tresserhorn - your comparison to Polar Kraken fails to identify a major 'weakness' of this relative to Polar Kraken - the inability to do graveyard play with it. Many of the superheavyweights of times gone by, you can try to find a way to graveyard it then animate it to dodge such nuisances as 'hardcasting'. This is more in line with recent superheavyweights that refuse to exist in a graveyard and so are built-in unusable in exhuming decks.
Same reaction to @DarthParallax... "in a world with Unburying Rites" - Unburying Rites plays no part in getting this particular Wurm onto the battlefield.

I have one and don't see it getting used outside commander. It'll be huge fun there, but in standard it's asking a lot to pull up 11 mana even in a dedicated ramp deck. Maybe it could be cheated out with something like Descendant's Path in a Wurm deck.

If you're running an Extended Wurm deck, Use Quicksilver Amulet to get this card out of your hand for 4 mana on turns 4-6 instead of the full 11 on turns 7-11. Also, run some Overgrown Battlements (Wall Defender, Tap O. B. to gain 1 green mana for each card with defender under your control. 4 in play=16 total mana)
Also, now that I've had the chance to play against this card, I see why they didn't make it legendary for a number of reasons. Mechanically the legend rule would probably be abused on this fella, but also I think a big part of its nonlegendary status is it doesn't feel legendary. It feels like a big green fatty that might happen every once in awhile.
Don't laugh at me, but I think this card may see Legacy play in some deck.

And as for how there could be multiples of this in Ravnica...well, there are those Gate lands...
This could work immensely well with Makeshift Mannequin since you can respond it its shuffle ability to put it into play. The "skulking" drawback that MM provides is completely mitigated by the wurm's token generation. You can use either the 3 or 5 cost Liliana Vess to discard it for free and have mana open to make it a Mannequin (big Lili can also tutor for either piece for you to play next turn).

@thewrathofshane: Because people would just cloudshift this over and over (or use Roaring Primadox) like they do thragtusk to produce more and more 5/5 tramplers. At least Thragtusk produces ONE 3/3. This produces THREE. It would be absolutely crazy.

@Egarret01
I can see where you're coming from though at the same time I don't really feel that the subtype(s) should always play a role in how high the p/t of a creature is. Look at Sepulchral Primordial. He's only a 5/4 as an Avatar. I sort of view it like this...just because someone summons an Avatar/god doesn't mean it's going to be this huge giant/all-powerful being weighing in at some preposterously high p/t. In the same sense not all "Natural" Creatures need to be limited to natural strength. I imagine Worldspine Wurm as being this utterly massive creature that hangs out near the core of the planet for the most part just feeding and getting bigger and bigger all the time. He's a "Natural Creature" sure...though even natural creatures can have a genetic makeup allowing them to grow to gargantuan proportions.
For what it costs to cast this guy and the creativity/imagination that I feel is connected to him...I'd say his 15/15 is well justified.
Cheers

This card feels like it should weigh about half a pound. Everything about it is massive. Also, wurms still need a lord. We keep on getting awesome creatures like this and no tribal support. I want to build a wurm deck, already.
Edit: In retrospect, I greatly regret that they didn't go the Thragtusk route and use "leaves the battlefield" instead of "dies" for its triggered ability. Would it have been too much on an 11-drop? Possibly, but it would've been good to see a giant green creature actually make something of a competitive splash for once.

Contrary to common knowledge, this is very hard-castable with Nykthos.
The fact that it must die to get the tokens is super unfortunate. The clause should be "When Worldspine Wurm leaves the battlefield" because that would guarantee the tokens. The way Wizards worded this, one D-Sphere and your whole 11-cmc mythic is *poof* gone. Lame.

Turn 1: Forest, Elvish Mystic Turn 2: Forest, Overgrown Battlement, another Elvish Mystic Turn 3: Forest, Doubling Chant Turn 4: Forest, hard cast Worldspine Wurm
Here's where my deck could pull off some shit. I could have waited to cast him and instead cast Vorenclex to boost my mana, then the next turn hard cast Worldspine and momentous fall him and before he shuffles in to my library I could noxious revival him and draw him and hard cast him again and have the tokens, 15 cards in hand and have gained 15 life. Trust me, it happens a lot. Good times.

I'm playing magic for about a year now and think about trying this at local fnm, any advice on the possibility of this working out is welcome.
You clearly don't know abour Marit Lage ;) Granted it's a 'token' gamewise, it's still the biggest legal (that is to say B.F.M. not included) creature mtg has ever had.

Cheers
... BUT, Engulfing Slagwurm is perhaps more practical in an actual game.
So I just stuck it in my Dredge/Reanimator
ALASKAN
BULL
WORM!
Great with Karametra's Acolyte.
That's the difference between blue and green creatures for you.
T1: mountain, tap for mana vault.
T2: opal palace, tap both for green, tap mana vault drop elvish piper.
T3: tap both lands for another green, tap piper, drop worldspine wurm. Lean back and watch all others try to comprehend, then watched them try to counter. None could.
T4: wrecked faces.
The fact that it must die to get the tokens is super unfortunate. The clause should be "When Worldspine Wurm leaves the battlefield" because that would guarantee the tokens. The way Wizards worded this, one D-Sphere and your whole 11-cmc mythic is *poof* gone. Lame.
Turn 1: Forest, Elvish Mystic
Turn 2: Forest, Overgrown Battlement, another Elvish Mystic
Turn 3: Forest, Doubling Chant
Turn 4: Forest, hard cast Worldspine Wurm
Here's where my deck could pull off some shit. I could have waited to cast him and instead cast Vorenclex to boost my mana, then the next turn hard cast Worldspine and momentous fall him and before he shuffles in to my library I could noxious revival him and draw him and hard cast him again and have the tokens, 15 cards in hand and have gained 15 life. Trust me, it happens a lot. Good times.
Natural Order Lure of prey Tooth and nail Dramatic entrance Elvish piper quicksilver amulet..so many ways... love it.. also the very good, worldly tutor and call of the wild combo
Timmy wanted a giant 15/15.
Johnny wanted a real use for that foil Counterlash. (Dat flavor text)
