Again, my sister is sad that they are not white green tokens for her Tolsmir EDH Deck. It's probably so that they die to Ultimate Price, but she will be sad that she can't drop 14 power on the board for six mana with her commander out.

That's some suggestive artwork. It also looks like a large finger with a silver-painted fingernail.
The card itself looks like loads of fun to play, though, regardless of its impact on the metagame. 10 total trampling power for 6 mana? Sure! Besides the usual flicker strategies mentioned, I also like the fact that the token creation is an ETB effect, so you can reanimate or cheat it into play to your heart's content.
This. Ohhh this. This is probably my favourite card in the set and honestly this feels exactly what we should be getting from a mythic rare. This thing kicks serious tailfeathers and basically spells out a bad day for anyone without mass removal or a counter ready to stop it from hitting the battlefield. 5/5

I was browsing Channel Fireball's website and thinking about pre-ordering this card a few days ago. My friend walked up and saw that I was thinking about buying the card.
He said, "Hey, can I borrow that card for my graveyard deck? I feel like it would fit really well..."
I squinted at him, then back at the screen. "Nah, I'm not going to order it. I don't want to put my wurm in your graveyard." I closed the tab on my web browser.
"That's too bad," he sighed. "Elderscale Wurm just didn't fit at all. I guess I'll just have to make it work."
He seemed really upset and I think he has been avoiding me ever since.

From the Planeswalker's Guide to Ravnica: "The Selesnya are proud of their wurms."
Ravnica means Power Creep. It simply does. Ravnica = Multicolor, and Multicolor = Power Creep. It's built into the game for as long as we have the Core Set idea of the Colors, and as long as we reject the Legends idea of what Multi Color should be.
IF the colors get certain things at certain mana-rates, than double-coloring up gets you just plain better stuff. Wizards could try not printing Dual Lands. At all. But Math says your deck is no fun to play with if you can't cast the spells you want until at least turn 5 because you're waiting for a specific Basic Land.
Let's take a brief look at the History of Magic- forgive me if I miss something very relevant:
New Age Magic: Alara-Innistrad. This is what we will compare cards to for a long time. About at Alara, with the introduction of Mythic Rarity AND the first New Planeswalkers besides the Lorwyn Core, AND an emphasis on Gold in tight, 3-colored combinations when before we usually wanted to play 2 Colors even in Gold decks, the cards are just really really powerful compared to anything before. I'm pretty sure everyone here is aware of what Standard looked like from Zendikar on, because of the massive rise in Magic being popular which wierdly happened right around when Jace, the Mind Sculptor got printed.
Modern Magic: Mirrodin-Lorwyn: Mirrodin- nothing was both fair and good that I can recall about Mirrodin. Kamigawa- Wizards was learning the last major lessons about making their own game about here. I don't think we've actually had significantly dissappointing Rares or Bannable commons and uncommons ever since this block. (I'm not counting Ponder or Preordain. They're fine for Standard, and it's mostly *what* they can find in old formats that causes the problem there.) Ravnica- A Gold Block. Everything that was true about Alara, was true about Ravnica- players could REALLY cast their spells because EVEN if you didn't have Shock Lands, you probably had Signets and Karoos, like how you probably had Shard Lands even if you didn't have Zendikar Fetches. Time Spiral: I don't know a lot about what Time Spiral looked like, but I do know it was probably the best Block for Vintage players that doesn't have a famous laundry list of Banned Crap. Maybe there's some Banned cards in it, but it's not like it got famous for it's Banned Crap.
Old-School Magic: Urza's Block-Onslaught Onslaught and Odyssey were fine blocks for balance and playability, including actually probably being fun to draft. (Haven't done it so can't say) But- those are so old that most of their cards today look fairly weak by our standards for creatures. I like the old standard of spells they had, but Wizards doesn't. :/ Anyway, Zombie, Elf, Goblin, and Merfolk decks are probably the easiest and most fun you can build, in large part due to the success of this era, plus simply adding love for them in practically every set since. Weatherlight Saga- I get the feeling only Vorthoses actually care about any of the cards from the Weatherlight blocks. They're simply too old to look relevant. But it's worthy to note that this was another Golden Age, and that compared to everything that came before, Invasion and such looks ACTUALLY fun and balanced- you can actually play your cards, and your cards actually do neat things that don't lose you friends :) We are not discussing Urza's Block.
And the rest of the cards that have been made are even more subject to the power-creep factor that we view Odyssey and Onslaught through, or else are simply broken like Urza's Block and Mirrodin Block. ================================================================================== I may have missed something, but it looks like the only Standard that was fun and great was always preceded by a major Gold Block pumping up what cards are allowed to do for their CMC, resulting in even the mono-colored cards made after needing to be worth playing somehow, resulting in a slow inevitable power creep every time Gold Cards get made.
I would not be surprised if the next Three Blocks: Return to Ravnica, X Block, and Y Block make the Alara-Zendikar-Scars of Mirrodin Blocks look relatively weak by comparison, with the only exceptions being Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker- the only Alara card I think will survive power-creep comparisons, Jace, the Mind Sculptor, Stoneforge Mystic, and the Eldrazi, because if Wizards ever makes THOSE look bad then we are all lost. >.>
But yes I'm saying that things like Vengevine and Sword of Body and Mind are going to seem outdated sometime fairly soon. I don't know how many Swords will get outdated, but at least one or even two of them actually will.
It will be many many years before the Innistrad Mythic Legends look a bit worse for wear, and actually if it happens I think nobody playing today will be able to recognize the game at all.

Is good thing this is mythic because it is not very good card. I know this because I am novice. Populate is also like a strong ability now against decks with the strong removal spells with them. In my home land wurms are almost as big as these fun guys and taste very good for the dinner times, if not a little too salty.
Thankfully this isn't an inkblot test, because 99% of you would know immediately what you see in the art. I also find it funny that it combos really well with Conjurers Closet... just imagine the worm entering then exiting the closet every turn. Yeah not sexual at all...

This seems really overpowered until you consider that it's a multi colored card that's more color intensive than grave titan, but without making more attackers every time you attack. The titans really were just ridiculous, I'm glad that this is much more balanced than them without being too weak.
Awesome card, but... yeah... I can't imagine that the artist finished this, sent it off to Wizards and only then realized wtf he had just drawn. I mean, look at the shape of their helmets, and one's even erupting from the ground like that. You might as well just have the "wurms" shooting white, sticky sap from their mouths at the soldiers.
Know what, maybe we're not seeing the wurms at all. Maybe they're out of frame somewhere or at least one is, and there's actually a pervert giant buried just beneath the ground who attacks travelers with his junk. I don't know, it's just hard to take this card seriously. It's probably gonna start some interesting conversations among players at the game table.

I'm finding that The Gatherer is much too full of people who rate cards just because it's popular/expensive.
Look at Bonfire of the Damned: It's rating is about 3.9/5.0 stars. However, it's played in almost every Standard deck now. It's still $25. It's usually a high-pick draft pick.
Now look at Dangerous Wager. It's an instant that discards your hand and draws you two cards. It isn't played in any standard decks. It's about $0.25. I usually see it as a low pick, sometimes as my last pick. It's almost rated 4 stars.
Am I missing something? Is the common aspect what makes people are thinks, "OH YEAH, THIS NEEDS TO BE 5 STARS!" Is the instant speed worth it? OR is there just too many people who don't play standard and think, "I hate how his card is $50! this card needs to be trimmed down a bit...".
Same with this. Is this REALLY a 3.96 rated card? It should be a 4.5 rated card, right? Am I missing something?

Great creature in itself, but totally underwhelming to see as a mythic rare, coupled with the art which fails to convey any sense of meaningful size. Even Streetbreaker Wurm is more convincing than this.
This card art needs more of what makes Progenitus feel mythic in addition to merely having the orange logo; objects of scale. My fantasy redo of this art is to pull the "camera" way back, to show the massiveness of a Ravnican city-section slowly tumbling down as this creature and its spawn demolish it. Have recognizable guild architecture come crashing to the ground.

Broodmate Dragon was rare and for essentially an equivalent cost and power. It was a good card, but it never broke any formats. The only reason Armada Wurm is Mythic is because populate's on a hundred and one cards in Return to Ravnica, and you can just keep putting more and more wurms into play since even the non selesynian players will pull like 8 populate cards. Having AW be rare would have fucked Sealed players, and Wizards would rather up the price by five dollars and a rarity then give it at the cost it should have been.
If it looks a little phallic then maybe you've spent too much time looking at penises. Or maybe you should go see a doctor. :/
