I love this guy too. Started playing during Ice Age and laughed when I pulled him. Still have the deck that I made with him though, and it still works relatively well.

Cumulative upkeep and mana costs are too much to handle. Just another bad Leviathan for me =

vecter the cumalitive upkeep dosnt matter one sod = opponent defends with a 5-5 you get 6 damage through you pay on land you attack opponent blocks with a 3-3 you get 8 damage through you sacrifice 2 lands its pretty much instant death for you opponent

Yeah, once you get this guy out, you basically have 11 lands to play with (using only lands to cast this guy). So by the time the cumulative upkeep would be an issue, you've most likely won the game.

But yes, as many others have mentioned, definitely outdated. But it still brings back fond memories for me.

Eon Hub to make it workable.

Use him with Power Conduit, your opponent won't be laughing so much when it gets +1/+1 each turn

Play it with Herald of Leshrac. :) Sure, playing both guys costs a million mana, they probably die instantly anyway, get countered or whatever. Still, I love the synergy between those cards.

GLACIER OM NOM NOM!

Nowadays, blue has better options for size and for mana cost, but not for art.

Back in the day, this and Nicol Bolas were my Corpse Dance targets. Cumulative upkeep? Never heard of it. Oh, and good game by the way.

Play it with Quest for Ula's Temple at opponent's End Step on 4th or 5th tunr as first drop is the best way to use it. My favorite fatty ever, great artwork and flavor 5/5

A great reanimation target for its time since the upkeep, while annoying, could be maintained long enough to smash an opponent's face in. Admittedly, this big fella dies to Terror, Swords, and other such removal, but he still puts opponents on a short clock if he comes out early. Surpassed by modern creature design, but probably one of the most playable of the early huge blue creatures. Oh, and November 11, 2011 is Polar Kraken Day! Or, at least it should be, if Magic had official holidays.

Surely one of the best arworks ever.

Indestructible, uncounterable, untargetable, protection from everything and other abilities with no drawbacks are for cowards! Real men pay upkeeps!

4/5 for sheer history and awesome timmyness!!

Anyone playing Magic back then just had to grin cracking one of these. Biggest creature in the game at that time, another fantastic Tedin artwork, higher casting cost but actually more manageable upkeep, no saccing Islands to attack, this beasty for sure overshadowed Leviathan. Even if you were a hardcore Type I Johnny, you knew you would get some good value for him.

Also, that bear butt of the one falling off is just hilarious.

Therefore: RELEASE THE KRAKEN!

The upkeep is quite manageable without tricks. You should save slots for finding ways to get him into play instead.

A classic in massive, unplayable fatties. I wonder if there are any effects that proc off your lands getting destroyed? That might make it... uh, well, not GOOD, but more useful.

Seems that a lot of people like this guy more for the nostalgia value, which is okay. :) Not to mention the art is good.

Should say "If you control at least one Pale Bears, ignore the cumulative upkeep".

Since no one else has the nerve to say it, how long does an 11/11 trampler really need to be in play normally?

@Equinox
Corpse Dance doesn't work well with this guy: He comes into play tapped. Haste won't help him.

Stuff like this is still fun to slam down. If you're a real Timmy; you can figure out how to win with him occasionally. It's stuff like this that (if you can make it work) really make casual fun.
