My favorite kind of card to sell: ridiculous stand-alones. I can trade it for silly old combo cards and fun casual things. It's cool that the promo is worth almost half the admission to the pre-release.
Obviously a ridiculously good card. Even without splitting up into friends, a very decent card.

It's hard not to give this card 5/5. It faces off better with the new Titans than say, Baneslayer, and isn't even done when your opponents finally get rid of it.
I love Raymond Swanlands art, but I'm a little disappointed that the prerelease version resembles the original so much. They're not very diffierent, but I guess even Raymond Swanland can't beat Raymond Swanland. Best artist if you ask me. One reason for the resemblance could be a "reference" to the two sister tokens that are created when it dies, maybe?
Edit: I just noticed that the art already incorporates the two wurms, so maybe that's not the reason either. xD
Anyway. Awesome card, awesome art... wish there was room for an awesome flavor text as well.

This can be shut down by Arrest, Unsummon and a number of non-destroying removal spells. Grave Titan, on the other hand, will at the very least leave you with a pair of zombies if it's killed. Add to the fact that Grave Titan gets progressively more deadly as it attacks and I don't see much of a reason to play this instead.
Well, aside from the obvious: you're not playing black. But in that situation, you have the other titans to choose from, or in the case of white, Baneslayer Angel. This guy's a powerhouse, but hardly a clean replacement for the titans. Being an expensive card that's vulnerable to numerous cheap answers, it's hardly the best card in the set like the ratings are suggesting. I gave it a 4.5/5, since like I said, it's really good. But it hardly deserves the same rating as Lightning Bolt and Jace, the Mind Sculptor.

Some people are comparing this to the titans, shuddering thinking "this sucks in comparison". I believe they are this dude is right up there with them. First of all, it's colorless. No black knight or problems of wrong colors. Next, it's a 6 cost 6/6!!!! there's no arguing with that!! Remember a few short years ago, green , the color of big creatures, didn't have a 6 cost 6/6. Deathtouch and lifelink is included. No other words needed for that. Finally, its dying gift. Their kill spells only give you more creatures with which to smash face. Most other creatures just roll over and stop being a problem. Not this guy!!! On the whole, this can't really be an argument over which is strictly better. This and the titans have their own merits, so it's an argument of "which is better for my deck?" So don't say it sucks. It smashes face well.
survives a wrath and path is rotating before this sees competitive play. For all you out there wondering wether or not this will see play, it's a well costed body with a relevant ability and an irrelevant one. It's 3 bodies in 1, unless your opponent journey's it, uses that new white 2 mana (sorcery speed, lol) removal spell or condemns it, which can happen to any creature anyway. The smaller bodies have relevant abilites and both count towards your metalcraft. It is good, way better than Sun Titan.

i suppose i don't understand why people say something is broken or unbalanced and -then- go on to say they must have one. then again, it's clearly to these people that mythics are catering. personally, if i see a card that is obviously overpowered i don't use it--i prefer to keep a modic-um of dignity when i lay down cards. i don't need to cast a 6 mana card and know the only reason i've won is because of power creep or dare i say, the size of my wallet.

Molten-tail masticore beats it outright with just 6 mana. still epic 4.5/5
@SleetFox: my wurmcoil will trade for your grave titan, then my tokens will clean up your petty 2/2's, and i'll gain plenty of life in the process. only titan that beats this in combat is blue, and grave titan is nothing but combat. but i'll take a molten-tail masticore over any titan or wurmcoil. also, all the titans die to almost all removal (except blue kind of), where this needs to be non-destroy as you mentioned. does it ramp like primeval? does it have the mini-reanimate of sun? no, but this is a very irritating win condition if you find yourself up against it. i agree with you overall, but he surpasses all titans as far as combat is concerned.

It seems like Wizards is just going to keep pushing the envelope on creatures until they finally make one that is as broken as the Power 9. Not that this card is anywhere near on that level, but Wizards trying to get there is the only way I can explain something like this. Seriously, a colorless 6/6 for six mana? A few short years ago that would've meant it would've had to have some nasty drawbacks, but these days they just heap piles of gravy onto it and make it mythic so people open a thousand packs to get these and the other overpowered mythics.
Powercreep has officially turned into powergallop. I really hope we get the next Masques/Kamigawa to bring things back down to earth soon.

Wurmcoil Engine is a pretty good card. 6/6 for 6? That's a good deal! It has one fatal flaw though. Say you play it, but your opponent either plays or already has Leyline of the Void out on the field . So, if your opponent casts Doom Blade or Demolish or other such cards, WC goes straight into exile. Its splitting ability cannot trigger sine it didn't go to the graveyard.
I love to do that against my brother's Wurmcoil Engine. It drives him nuts.

My point is that variety is the spice of life, people. Customizing your own deck is what Magic is all about Remember that mtg started out as a side game of Dungeons and Dragons and I don't know know any D & D players that are only in it for Wins and Points. This card IS, in fact, power creeped. It has abilities that outclass virtually every other 6-drop, and it has a 6/6 body for six mana on an artifact. That's way better than black, blue, red, and sometimes white get without some sort of drawbacks. Instead of drawbacks, it has two incredible keywords, and an extremely powerful ability. It's ridiculous, and it puts pretty much every other 6-drop to shame

This is a great card, exceedingly powerful and frustrating to deal with. In Limited it fears only two words: Revoke Existence. Once again, threats are rare, answers are common, and that's not a bad thing. I think people that like to complain about mythics, powercreep, et cetera, are just looking for reasons to be upset. It's the same game as it's always been, it requires just as much wit as it always has. And if people buying the "best deck" bothers you; use your wit to make the deck that beats that deck.

Hmmm. And just think, they printed Vizzerdrix at rare.
This is the only artifact creature besides Sphinx of the Steel Wind that gives red a headache. I'm a big red player, so I'm gonna analyze it from my play perspective. The only creature in red that can keep up with this is Hoard-Smelter Dragon. I run a couple in an extended eldrazi jund deck and they really come in handy. Most burn can't touch this guy, and shatter just makes the tokens get here faster. From that point on the tokens are equally annoying, the deathtoucher crapping on your defenses and the lifelinker making burn a chore. It's tough playing Red sometimes.
However, if you want to be a mean red control player, you could run this dude in conjunction with Hoarding Dragon. Turning your 4/4 flying fodder into this power creeping nightmare can be priceless. Just make sure you have a sure way to make sure your hoarder dies instead of being bounced or exiled.

I love this card. I love it so much, it's the only mythic rare from the set I own, and I own six of them. (Five of them being the first prize at my local prerelease) I even went so far as to build an entire deck around them that consistently gets all four out by turn 7 or 8. It's not very competitive, but it's fun putting a Jitte on one on turn 5 and watching your opponent shriek in horror as he realizes that his Terrors will do nothing to stop the wurmy behemoth, and I promptly gain 20-something life and crush his skull in with it.
All in all, this is probably my favorite 6-cost card. I'll be sure to put some Treasure Mages in with this guy for some fun times.

Wurmcoil engine + eldrazi monument + prototype portal + tezzeret agent of bolas = win. its a bit mana intensive, but if you can pull it off with only 6 mana. Prototype portal the wurmcoil engine, lay down eldrazi monument and use tezzeret's -1 on both the prototype portal and eldrazi monument. Since when wurmcoil engine dies it divides in two you are almost guaranteed an available sacrifice for your monument the following turn if they didn't see this coming, and then just prototype portal for another wurmcoil engine... and this one is indestructible... and you can get another one every turn for 6 mana. And then if you really want to have fun, use liquimetal coating on tezzeret, and then use his -1 on himself to make him a 5/5 creature and therefore indestructible because of eldrazi monument.

★★★★☆ (4.0/5.0)(11 votes)
Cards like Wurmcoil Engine are the reason I dislike all constructed formats (except multiplayer casual) and mostly dropped out of MtG. When WotC makes mythic/rare cards that are strictly superior (not merely "better" as an opinion, but STRICTLY superior in absolute numerical terms) to un/common ones, they are loudly proclaiming that MtG is all about the benjamins.
A 6/6 for 6 is already strictly superior to numerous other cards (for example Alpha Tyrannax and Razorfield Thresher, which WotC obscenely put in the same freaking set), two strong abilities make it excessive, and the tokens send it way over the top. Wurmcoil Engine would be playable in many formats even as a 4WB, 4GB or other multicolor. Being colorless is simply rude.
Strictly superior rares also make limited more luck-based than I prefer. Two players of equal skill with otherwise equal packs, having a Mythic that fits your playable colors gives you a large advantage. Wurmcoil fits every color.
I'm not saying that it's broken, or perfect for every deck, but it unambiguously demonstrates that its real name is "Moneymaking Engine".
Evermint
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.6/5.0)(6 votes)
Not broken... c'mon people, think before you speak. When you show me how this card becomes a staple in Vintage/Legacy that must be banned, you can say it's broken or overpowered. Until then, it's just a really cool card in a variety of formats.
Creatures were just way too overcosted back then; Wizards was just very careful in the beginning. Now that the game is a little more established, they can give creatures, the underdog card type, a little more power.

I have seen a few comments about powercreep and I have to intervene, taking the point that powercreep has both a: not screwed up the game at all and b: isn't nearly as bad as it was before.
Case for point a: Powerful cards are fun, this is a game and thus is supposed to be fun. Wurmcoil engine makes the person playing it feel powerful, and the person playing against it has a challenge. I love playing against cards like this and Jace because it gives me a challenge, especially for someone who doesnt play those cards and opts for more rogue and fun decklists. I'm not lying. Who wants to show up to a tournament and just sweep every single game without even thinking about it? That is stupid. Fact: Playing a deck that isn't good is not fun. If anything, the powercreep has made the game more fun and more challenging to play. Secondly, the powercreep is checked by simple removal spells. Any competent player knows not to waste removal, and this guy right here has a ticket for a journey to nowhere. Note, I am not saying that this card is bad because it can be targeted by removal, absolutely not. I am saying that this card is checked, balanced by the duresses and despises and journey to nowheres and ousts of the current standard enviroment.
Case for Point B: Vintage. Nuff said. Wurmcoil engine is too slow to be played in 4/5 eternal format decks. That is saying something. Whilst wurmcoil engine is a very good card, it is not in the same league of broken as cards like high tide, dark ritual, and black lotus that dramatically speeds up the game and allows people to do silly things with other completely broken and underpriced cards. (Yeah, Lotus Cobra sucks.) not this card nor any other card in standard wins the game when it hits whilst vintage is littered with early turn kill combos and massive mana accel to power them out very quickly.
Anyone who says they like a challenge is lying? That makes no sense, at all. Magic is a game that involves a battle of wits, powerful effects and finding ways to deal with them. Powerful effects require more thought out responses, and that is an aspect that makes magic even more fun. Take Portal, for instance. Would you rather each chamber of portal be a "Put box on button. Door opens. Proceed through door." Or would you rather have the puzzles be interesting and in-depth, thus creating a more interactive and involving setting? I would take the latter every single time, and the same is true in magic. I would rather face a deck with mindsculptors in it rather than no mindsculptors. Partly because I like playing rogue decks and I make it my mission to prove that adequate thought and playing ability allow less mainstream decks to perform well against decks that run big expensive cards, but also because it presents me with a tough situation that I have to figure out. I just like thinking, it is fun. If you like winning, then that is your preference and I respect that and I would see why you would want to face less powerful decks. But the mental gambits of facing a card like wurmcoil engine or jace the mindsculptor are intriguing.
One time i was one swing away from killing my opponent with a souped up Goblin gavaleer and he played this. On my turn i played Kor Hookmaster and killed him. That's the only time i've ever encountered this and didn't freak out... it's really good but like most mythics, if you play against them with commons that work well, it doesn't matter.

Why is this a hundred times better than Pelakka Wurm? Pelakka is heavy green and at seven, he has the right to be overpowered (and is really not)... At six colorless, Wurmcoil Engine has no right to be absurd.
This would've been fair as a 4/4 that makes 2/2's, and it still would have seen play.

I would have enjoyed it if it were a bit more interesting and underwhleming. make it a 5/5 that makes a 2/3 lifelink and a 3/2 deathtouch. That woulda been cool. I think the only reason it gets away with being a 6/6 for 6 with more than 6 mana worth of abilities IS that it's mythic rare, which never sat well for me. But I'm biased because Wurms are cool.

Because we needed an artifact Titan? Intense Power Creep. Only Green is supposed to get power/toughness equal to its mana cost. Why can this thing? Because its Mythic Rare? I hope not. Still, the art and flavor are cool, but I don't know why its on Mirrodin.
@TheSwarm You are right about the mental challenge of things but it has gone down in recent years. Yes the person facing it is presented with the challenge, but is the caster? No? All they need to know how to do is buy it, put it in their deck, and attack. This cards should have a drawback and so should each Titan. Then the user would have to think about it more.
Powercreep wouldn't be as big of an issue if it happened universally (it is happening at common and uncommon, but not quite this extreme) but as it is it seems like it should at the very least be a 4/4 for that makes 2/2 tokens. That would be slightly above the curve and reasonable without sacrificing any of the flavor because this is a cool concept.

Oh, don't you just LOVE Magic in comparison to other card games? In Yu-Gi-Oh for example the senario would look something like this:
Me: I sacrifice two monster and play the BLUE EYES WHITE DRAGON!
Opponent: Damn
In Magic, though it would look more like this:
Me: I tap six lands and play WURMCOIL ENGINE!
Opponent: Taps three lands and plays a cancel. "No you don't".
Anyways, I finally cracked down and bought a couple of this guy figuring that if i was going to buy a nice mythic it was going to be one that could see play in any color of deck.
A great card with power creep written all over it.

I will say, this guy's pretty much a boss. He deserves 5/5, I agree, but just for everyone's info, there are ways around him. The simplest being (and it has to be the reason they made it) Revoke Existence, another way is to kill the main (Doom Blade, Beast Within, etc.) and then use Steel Hellkite with his ability at zero to blow up the tokens. Use one colorless artifact creature to kill another.

I was thinking we should print something like it again, but this time why don't we reduce its casting cost by and eliminate its color requirements so that it's playable in any deck, and then give it Deathtouch and Lifelink so that it's never reduced to a mere chump-blocker on the defense or made totally useless by chump-blockers on the offense? I'm sure that removing Trample, splitting the token into two smaller creatures, and making it vulnerable to artifact-destruction will balance it enough."
Hmm.

@Majinara: You say "Mythich means in this case simply 'over the power curve', which is imho not the way rarities should be handled." That's actually one of the ways rarity is and should be handled. If it's really powerful, it needs to be higher in rarity so it shows up less in Limited games because it's pulled less frequently in boosters.
None of this is meant to justify the card itself. I agree that it should not have been printed as is. It seems way more like a Green/Black card than a colorless one. The main negative of it being an artifact - dies to Naturalize - is removed with the addition of the token ability. In most colored creature cards you'd be lucky to see this with 6/6 at 7 CMC, let alone 6.

Gorgeous art, and holy cow is lifelink on that thing annoying. 6 colourless for all that shazam is just mental. 8 would have done just fine for me. I would go so far as to claim this is "The Sixth Titan", but then I'd have to strangle myself with a Trip Noose. It is ridiculous for its cost and way outclasses ALL of the Mythics in Innistrad at least.
This is why I like the mythics in Innistrad block; the flavor is prioritized over its OTTness.
@sarroth: I (kind of) agree with Majinara and (kind of) disagree with you. Mythic rarity really shouldn't mean only raw above-the-curve power. First because it makes everyone played limited really unhappy, and second because it is unfair even in limited, because they reward the dumb luck of pulling one (specially this one, as it fits into pretty much any limited deck) rather than good deckbuilding, as it should.

What you are all forgetting is that PHYREXIANS ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE FAIR. This is a Phyrexian Mythic rare--- you know how Green gets amazing elves, Red has stupidly powerful Goblins, Dragons, and Warriors, White gets Angels, and Black gets Demons? Phyrexia is basically Tribal Evil Artifacts. Yep. Pretty nuts. But that's how it rolls. Last time Artifacts were Tribal-y was....well..Mirrodin 1. I guess Affinity turned out to be a pretty decently powerful mechanic. :p Time before that? ermm...that was Urza Block. Free stuff is usually good. OK- so artifacts have historically been broken every time Wizards counted them as a Full Color, with the right to be synergistic among themselves and actually be good at things that other colors are normally better at. As a Mythic Rare Phyrexian Artifact Creature, I was actually expecting something like this to appear in every set of Scars of Mirrodin Block. This particular Phyrexian is also a Decepticon, and was last seen throwing giant skycrapers into other giant skyscrapers to get them to fall onto yet more giant skyscrapers, utterly annihilating Chicago....
@rainbow dash- what I mean is, Artifacts are usually supposed to generally worse at everything than whichever colors are supposed to do that thing, as the 'cost' of the 'benefit' of getting to be put into anything. Artifacts are therefore Tribal in Scars Block insofar as 'Card type-Artifact' does not automatically give the card some kind of drawback or overpriced mana cost. 6/6 for 6 is 'on curve' for 'rare creatures', and for an Artifact Creature, we'd Normally get just the lifelink and the token splitting power, or the death touch and the token splitting power. A Mythic gets both lifelink and deathtouch, and gives the tokens those keywords too. The reason this is allowable is because Artifacts are counted as a Full Color on Mirrodin, when on other Planes, Artifacts and Artifact creatures are fighting over the scraps left by the other colors or trying to make your limited decks a bit more versatile.
Limited as increased in importance a lot since original Mirrodin, and it would be Bad to let this kind of treatment toward Artifacts stretch to any more planes, but every once in a blue moon, it's cool to see Artifacts get their Piece of the Pie. I'm not mad at the part where 'this is too good for colorless creatures'. I'm slightly concerned, AFTER seeing Innistrad's 'Geist of Saint Traft', that Wizards appears to REGULARLY look for ways for Mythics to break the color pie, which suggests that the Color Pie will be something that only matters for Budget Players. THAT is the problem. I wanted Mirrodin's Artifacts to be Special, and it looks like they won't be because Innistrad has White and Blue creatures strictly better than Green creatures, and Return to Ravnica might have I don't-know-what that breaks the Color Pie at Mythic. If you follow the Color Pie EVEN at Mythic, the game is Epic. If you let Mythics break the Color Pie for being Mythics, you're setting the game up to get dull and hated by everyone.
Also, I am ****** tired of these ****** W/U Fly-Blade decks in my ******* Standard :p

In hindsight, while it's absolutely ridiculous; I'm guessing that they've come to accept/realize that artifacts are less powerful due to more removal hitting them. Maybe that's why this is so powerful? I.E. since every color can hate on it with a huge amount of cards by comparison to just creatures; and because there are things like Acidic Slime which can almost match this guy 1v1 at Uncommon.
It's a neat thought anyway. 5/5 for a brutal beast.

Attack with Wurmcoil Engine-if he's blocked or deals damage direct, you gain 6 life. (Also, if someone tries using removal on it after you declare attacking, Momentous Fall is an instant, so you can use it before the spell hits it.) Momentous Fall the Wurmcoil Engine Before it resolves, use Noxious Revival for one green or 2 health, to put it back on top of your library. Momentous Fall resolves, you draw your 6 cards, gain 6 life, and get the tokens. Depending on your mana at that point, you can even cast him again in the same turn and have him back as a blocker. Come at me bro.

@Minatokageaki Magic still has a lot of smarts inside it. Its easy to make an simply over powered deck, but magic aint as unbalanced as Yugioh. Not by a loooong shot. WotC at least cares about this game to an extent.
About the card. Raymond Swanland did amazing job on each 4 iterations (tokens, this and prerelease). Such an powerful machine of destruction. Great play on colors and adding the organic feel to it. The mechanic on the other hand feels extremely broken. This would have been good if it would cost more. It would see play. This feels like another of Wizards experiments on the block, to see how it would fare and impact the game. Otherwise its basicly an pay to win card in casual, though fortunately I havent seen any on the kitchen table. At least Phyrexian Obliterator requires only black to be played. This thing can fit into ANY deck and wreck face.
I hope I will see more from the artist, but not these kinda cards anymore

Child of Gaea says "Eat it!" I love that my favorite creature from when I started playing Magic can now stand toe to toe (so to speak) with this beast. Back in the day regeneration was barely relevant, my beloved elemental would rarely last long enough to pay for the upkeep cost. Deathtouch? Bah! I laugh at your deathtouch! Sure, a monkey could do it for cheaper, but if you want quality work, you gotta pay for it.

Land, Sol Ring, Sol Ring, Sol Ring, Wurmcoil Engine.
You don't even need the other two cards.

I kind of wish it had a lower CMC so people could just enjoy how freaking awesome it is.

If you've ever played against this, you'll know its outright bonkers.
Hefty beater with lifelink/deathtouch that splits for card advantage into those stats again.
Its hard not to lose serious card and life advantage against this thing without the perfect removal at the ready.

fun card, ill give it a whirl in standard competitive and see if it holds up
This card is epic.
It doesn't die.
Obviously a ridiculously good card. Even without splitting up into friends, a very decent card.
5/5
Well, aside from the obvious: you're not playing black. But in that situation, you have the other titans to choose from, or in the case of white, Baneslayer Angel. This guy's a powerhouse, but hardly a clean replacement for the titans. Being an expensive card that's vulnerable to numerous cheap answers, it's hardly the best card in the set like the ratings are suggesting. I gave it a 4.5/5, since like I said, it's really good. But it hardly deserves the same rating as Lightning Bolt and Jace, the Mind Sculptor.
/say no to power creep
/rant over.. but for how long?
And oh, yeah, the card is really good too.
Power creep, playing with dignity, mythics are catering...I don't really understand how you play Magic without wearing thick bottle glasses or your dentures. "In my day..."
The engine is certainly a good card. I don't think that according to it's mechanics and stuff it deserves to be mythic though. Mythich means in this case simply "over the power curve", which is imho not the way rarities should be handled.
Powercreep has officially turned into powergallop. I really hope we get the next Masques/Kamigawa to bring things back down to earth soon.
I love to do that against my brother's Wurmcoil Engine. It drives him nuts.
PS Eternal Blue is definitely full of bull dung. Come on dude, you don't play with a card because it's broken?? Cards don't break themselves, it's the intelligent people playing the game that do. What qualities do a card have to have to be broken anyway? I'd like to know. Just play the game and have fun man.
On a more dismal note, JESUS CHRIST THERE'S TWO MASTEROFETHERIUMS :0
Everytime this guy hitis the battlefield my opponents eyes fill with hopelessness and confusion. the only guy that can keep this guy under control is Frost Titan.
this guy against w/u or u/b control is a must also against mono red decks but becareful with act of treason.
Eldrazi ramp decks are loving this guy. he is like a little eldrazi that they can search for with eye if ugin or blast all is dust as he reamins on the battlefield intact dont forget the fact that is possible for them to cast this guy on T4. Get them while you can thier vakues will go up.
@Eternal_Blue: I do understand your point that there are too many players out there who just buy the deck that wins in nationals or whatever and don't even put their own ideas into it. (I'm talking about you, Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle deck.) Still if I'm lucky enough to crack one, I'd use it regardless.
My point is that variety is the spice of life, people. Customizing your own deck is what Magic is all about Remember that mtg started out as a side game of Dungeons and Dragons and I don't know know any D & D players that are only in it for Wins and Points. Magic the Gathering is about creativeness, unpredictability and most of all fun. So look out FNM, I'm bringing my Quest for Ula's Temple deck to town!
Edit/Post ***um:
I'm a little bit tired of seeing the same like 15 cards in all competitive, constructed standard decks. I think WoTC should adress the issue. I know that one must invest money in every hobby and it's ok. But competitive standard MTG is turning into more of a money game than a wits game...
Wonder what the two tokens look like? *searches*
Nothing* is unbeatable. That's why it's fun.
*nothing that isn't banned anyway.
But man, that's a good card. Raymond Swanland's art is just ridiculously cool.
I even went so far as to build an entire deck around them that consistently gets all four out by turn 7 or 8.
I'll be sure to put some Treasure Mages in with this guy for some fun times.
now it seems if you dont play this in your deck or at least sideboard you suck at magic.
im really annoyed that i missed the pre release for this as the prices for this card seem to sit round 20 dollers in my area.
now any deck can have a more than solid 6/6 drop with no drawbacks although it would probably suit blue or green the best as they have the easiest time putting something like this into play,
The art is amazing on both versions, and I love the tokens that go with it. 5/5
its a bit mana intensive, but if you can pull it off with only 6 mana.
Creatures were just way too overcosted back then; Wizards was just very careful in the beginning. Now that the game is a little more established, they can give creatures, the underdog card type, a little more power.
Cost 6, 6/6, lifelink, deathtouch, and turns into two tokens when it dies?
R.I.P. MtG.
yes! We should totally have power 9 cards again! I would really like to use Dream Halls again! oh! And Fastbond! We should totally be able to play Moxes again! We Need a reprint of Demonic tutor as well! I would love to not be restricted to one, and be able to have 4 in type 2! they should totally put those in the next core set! *sarcasm*
They hired him...
For the new Transformers movie!
Joking aside, I guess Revoke Existence has some uses after all.
This would've been fair as a 4/4 that makes 2/2's, and it still would have seen play.
but then again, things like this and the titans are the only six drops that are even viable, so i can see the point :/
This card is far too powerful to be legal in Standard, and as compensation for releasing such an overpowered card, I demand that you send me 4 of them immediately.
Don't get me wrong, this thing is certainly stronger than it should be, but the sky is not falling. On a related note, I love this word "powercreep" so much. It lets me know who the sheep and the newbies are.
Powercreep wouldn't be as big of an issue if it happened universally (it is happening at common and uncommon, but not quite this extreme) but as it is it seems like it should at the very least be a 4/4 for
Me: I sacrifice two monster and play the BLUE EYES WHITE DRAGON!
I wish I had one or 2.
Tezzeret - "Either your'e a daltonist or stupid enough to not distinct rust from melange"
...
Wait a minute...
I've been had!
Hmm.
In any case, awesome art.
Even more evil with Mikaeus, the Unhallowed.
Even more ridiculous!
In case you couldn't figure it out, it can destroy up to eight creatures that block it that aren't indestructible with toughness greater than one when it attacks, and you gain 8 life.
1. this guy with gideon jura is fun,
Gideon - come at me bro
Wurmcoil- and when you do i will eat your face!!!!
2. this card is why the phyrexians won against the mirrans, wurmcoil kept on eating their faces
I agree with gabriel 422, This would've been fair as a 4/4 that makes 2/2's
2/2 tokens rather than 3/3s. or maybe keep the tokens the same but take the keywords off the wurmcoil itself. Or maybe ... I don't know. This is broken.
~From Terminator, 1984
Wurmcoil Engine can be played in any colored deck due to his mana cost. It is much more flexible.
This thing is far nastier than Phyrexian Obliterator for so many reasons. Obliterator's effect is scary, but he's awkward to cast and dies to removal as comfortably as any other creature. This thing... it's just... ugh.
On the upside, Return To Ravnica seems to be more careful with mythic balance. Quite a few are even underpowered.
hate this card but i really do need a few.
(You Only Live Twice)
or is it three times?
For 6???????
Also combos with the opponent whining.
hurr durr, strong card hard to find.
This guy, Massacre Wurm, Phyrexian Oblitaerator and the Praetors...SoM had some fantastic bombs. What do we get with RtR? Jank, jank and more jank. Here's hoping for a decent block next time.
@TheWrathofShane: Like most of your posts, you are again wrong. While many people cry about this guy, clearly not everyone hates him. Please get your facts straight.
-R&D
was R&D high when they designed the Mirrodin series's? First this then Blightsteel Colossus!?
Works with everything.
5 of in every deck.
It's a neat thought anyway. 5/5 for a brutal beast.
Gives a 6/6 body, 2 powerful keywords, and an insanely strong removal & board wipe resistance. Not to mention it can trade with anything bigger then give you tokens.
I guess they decided mythic means they can make the creature as strong as they want, and still call it balanced because
.5/5 for taking power creep to far.
Yugioh 2.0 here we come.
If it has trample and deathtouch, let's say it attacks, and is blocked by a 5/5. 1 damage is enough to kill it, so 5 trample damage goes through. And also you gain 6 life.
And also it's in any color you want.
Obviously a 5/5.
Attack with Wurmcoil Engine-if he's blocked or deals damage direct, you gain 6 life. (Also, if someone tries using removal on it after you declare attacking, Momentous Fall is an instant, so you can use it before the spell hits it.)
Momentous Fall the Wurmcoil Engine
Before it resolves, use Noxious Revival for one green or 2 health, to put it back on top of your library.
Momentous Fall resolves, you draw your 6 cards, gain 6 life, and get the tokens.
Depending on your mana at that point, you can even cast him again in the same turn and have him back as a blocker.
Come at me bro.
