My personal favorite among the avatar cycle in shadowmoor block... u people dnt know how to make this card terrify ur opponent... use rotting rats along with this card, and on turn five u may even have at least 2 to 3 or even 4 demigod of revenge rampaging ur opponents face... oh and add some nyxathid for a jawbreaking board position...

the reason this card is good in competition, is that even if you counter the demigod, his ability triggers when he is played, not when he comes into play. That means with demigods in graveyard, even though they counter the one you play, you get all the ones in the graveyard onto the field anyway. plus they are black, so resist a good amount of creature destruction, and haste means the opponent doesn't get to untap then respond to the creatures, they are taking a beating anyway. 5/5

except that the demigod is ***roach cannonfodder, i would still dump a Fists of the Demigod on each one. the fact is, wither is possibly the most destructive ability in this game excluding Oros, the Avenger's ability to cast 1.5 pyroclasms on non-whites (even better in 2 headed giant, as you're partner can Magical Hack him so he destroys the colors your opponent uses but you dont). while the Demigod of Revenge is an offensive Linemen, he isnt the best one. there are better and bigger cards for this cost. he is still up there in the great range though. The Demigod cant actually resurrect his buddies if they were killed by wither damage.
i still think Oros with Fists+some form of lifestealing is the best offensive linemen, as that combo just destroys everything with a thermonuclear warhead.

He's really not all that amazing, he may have been when he came out initially and there wasn't oblivion rings left and right, unmake, resounding silence, sword of kaldra, maelstrom pulse, world queller, and other exile cards. Now the power level is much higher, and the other spirit avatars with their unique abilities are actually much better choices. You have to have at least two of the demigod of revenge in a deck to even make use of its ability, and one oblivion ring wrecks your whole strategy. After that he's only a 5/4 flyer with haste.. which isn't bad, but its not good either. If you had a dominus of fealty you could even steal their own demigod of revenges and smack them around with it. A mind control or a confiscate will also really ruin a demigod of revenge strategy, as would a simple counter spell, or if they are against white control hail of arrows and path to exile.
It's still a good avatar if no one messes up your combo, but once they do the other spirit avatars are far preferable because they have stronger stand alone abilities.

and then there's meddling mage, thought hemorrhage, anything that removes creatures form the game. and of course the insane amount of cards that remove cards from graveyards. the best is probably Haunting Echoes. I admit he's really good, but like everything else he's not unstoppable. just one card and he's gone.

it doesnt matter how many removal spells there are that could take care of him, power creep is power creep. anyone with a brain knows it can ruin any tcg. the "it dies to" argument is invalid. only morons use it. this card is too powerful for its cost, end of story.

Yes, while this card can get removed it can come back. It's not a question of what can remove it, but a question of what can't remove it that makes some cards good. Also, he is quite powerful. Five mana can potentially put 20 hasty power on the battlefield.

This is possibly one of the most potentially flavorful cards in the game... But then he wasn't... Why demigod of "revenge"? Revenge against what? The flavor text was disappointing too... A nice mechanical card, but Magic should have thought longer about the flavor...
Personally I think the flavor text "When the Aurora shook the world, Snokk forced his way back to the world of the living with one thought in mind: revenge!" would have been so much better...
Definitely the best red/black hybrid creature of all-time. My favourite creature overall (screw Baneslayer). Not too much needs to be said about it, as it really speaks for itself.
Tarmogoyf should've ended the "it's broken" argument the day this came out. Yup its good. Yes Extirpate absolutely ruins this card now that it's 1.X legal. You can also chump block it with the equivalent of a Will-O Wisp. It is certainly a good card, but don't start with that broken nonsense.

mask of the mimic won't work, at least not if you plan to sacrifice a demigod to pay for its effect, hoping to get it back when the next demigod enters the battlefield. That's because the sacrificed demigod is no longer in play when you want to target it with mask of the mimic. Also, the second demigod is put onto the battlefield, not cast, so it won't even bring its buddy from the graveyard.
Come on people. We all know removal exists. You might as well go into a discussion for Doom Blade and say "Black creatures are immune to this spell".
Unless you have protection from white, blue, black, and red, removal works against everything!
If you are one of those people who is thinking of typing "removal", don't.
I have one thing to say to you people. Yes, Boomerang and Path to Exile trump almost everything in the game. We all know this. It's a fact of magic, creatures are easily removed.
That being said, this creature is without a doubt, freakin' awesome.
His only true grave belongs in Elysium.

Buried Alive turns one Demigod into the 4 Horsemen Of The Demigod Apocalypse. With this tactic you can also stash Disentombs for re-casting the same trick again
I once had the god hand of Swamp, 4 Rits, a Buried Alive and one of these. Most awesome T1 win ever.

Why do people think this is a bad card if you don't have a playset of them? Demigod is a 5 cost 5/4 with Flying and Haste. Plus it's hybrid costed to fit into B, R, or both. The last ability is just icing. People get distracted by the ability and forget that this is a great creature, even without it.

the problem is a) your playing vs black and/or red meaning that your probably not going to have flyers and if you do i'm betting they're taped. and b) Your saying the deck using demigod of revenge is not too much of a problem if they don't have more then 1. except they will because there using demigod of revenge.

This thing is SCARY. I disagree with people who think it NEEDS to be run in fours. In my jund aggro deck, he IS my only five-drop, but three of him in the deck means unrecoverable damage if left unanswered, especially when I can tutor them out with Fauna Shaman and Protean Hulk.

You know, I've always had the feeling that all creatures from the demigod cycle of Shadowmoor and Eventide should be legendary and this one in particular should have ''The legend rule does not apply to this creature''. After all, according to the Seer's Parables the Demigod of Revenge does divide himself, it'd just feel better regarding the cycle's flavor.
