Good card! Essentially Buried Ruin take 2.

Actually a good card for control decks that may only play the big creatures anyway. The randomness isn't that much of a problem in that case.

One land for a second chance to play my wincon? Don't mind if I do.

@atog: Second (or third) sets don't usually include basic lands. In Scars, they were here to illustrate how terrain is slowly changing to New Phyrexia and RotE included them because it was big expansion instead of small, but other than that, they are only in first expansions of block.

Did anyone else notice the lack of basic lands in this set?

@bansheemane

Thanks, I was wondering about that!

Could be useful in Commander. Yes? No? Maybe?

The only colorless, return creature effect land in existence. It may be random, cost 3 mana and require tap/sac action but it can still return that game-winner to hand when you really need it. EDH for sure, return the land from your yard to do it again!

I kind of wish you didn't have to sac the land...or that it brought the creature all the way to the battlefield...is that too much to hope for? :p

on the other hand, bringing back to your hand is a bit safer with the blasted Cage running around.

I use this card in limited all the time, but I think most people undervalue it. It's not a high pick by any means, but when you do pick one up, why not put it in your deck? It's an extra creature late-game when you're in topdeck mode, without taking up a nonland card slot.

I suppose it could screw up your mana if you're trying to run 3 colours, or multiple splashes, but I've never had a problem putting it in my average draft deck.

I think wizards' new theory when something is remotely too good is to just slap "at random" somewhere on the card and call it a day.

It's supposed to say "return to the battlefield" justifying it's {3}{T} & Sac cost.

As it is... dammit. Another once-promising victim of that one *** on the MTG design team desperate to sabotage balance whenever possible.

Today we present to you, Haunted Fengraf! From the creator of Mystifying Maze, Death of a Thousand Stings, and Avacyn, Angel of Hope!

For everyone complaining about how this card is bad, or even wanting it to be a Zombify, think again. That would be absurd. Lands often have overcosted activation costs, because they serve as lands in the meantime. If you don't have issues with colors, try playing this. The "free" Disentomb is worth it. It's not the best card in the world obviously, but it's pretty solid, and much better than what people think.

Late game, you get some more action at the cost of 3 mana and sac land. It doesn't take up any slots really, so, there is not much of a downside here. I say if you are playing a mono-color deck in edh, this is worth a slot a lot of the time. It's not really a repeatable effect, but, that doesn't really matter if you are getting the gas you need to win the game. Yeah, it's unreliable, yeah, you have to sac the land, but it's like turn 12 and you topdecked a land, what else are you going to do? Doing something, is better then doing nothing. It's not like you really need however many lands you have. You can cast pretty much anything in your deck anyways. When it comes to this card in edh, let me put it this way. This is not a dead card like forest is.

In mono-red edh where there is very little recursion at all and when you top deck that land the turn after they wrath of god and you don't care if you go down a land because your willing to Armageddon yourself just to bring back some board presence and you don't really care you don't hit your crazy bomb card that they wrathed because all you need is A THING TO DO. Then this card can be actively good. Yes, this is probably bad in non-singleton constructed formats I.E. Standard, . But in EDH, 2HG, Singleton, and Limited (particularly sealed), this is actually an actively GOOD card.

I'm thinking of putting this in my peasant 8-post deck. It'll always return an eldrazi :P
