I love it for it's randomness. =)

I fail to see the benefit of a land that comes into play tapped and allows you to shuffle your library for Red. Maybe if it didn't come into play tapped it would be playable.

I think this is the worst card ever.

Seriously. Comes into play tapped, and has a useless shuffle effect.

Sensei's Divining Top blah blah ...
So, now we're waiting for a card that benefits you when you're shuffling your library, as opposed to Psychogenic Probe.

Eh. Could be used with Moonring Island to see if the next card is useful, and shuffle it if it isn't. Beyond that, could be MUCH better. I give it 2 and a half, since I might find use for it in my Elemental deck.

I'd rather use a Soldier of Fortune.

Shuffle isn't useless. It's just not worth paying 1 (effectively 2) red mana to do it, even if it is repeatable and near-indestructible. This can be a good counter to some strategies, but that makes it an extremely situational sideboard card at best. It might be worth playing if your metagame is fond of deck manipulation and that's about it.

Bottom line: it has its place. Its EXTREMELY SMALL place. 1.5/5.

Too bad it's mostly useless (and comes into play tapped), because I like the artwork and the name.

This could be perfect for a U/R EDH deck (Nim, Pain Artist, Niv-Mizzet the Firemind, Jhoira of the Ghitu anyone?) You could probably utilise the shuffle effect to make sure you don't get dead draws like lands. Works especially well with Sensei's Diving Top, Counterbalance, Future Sight, Halimar Depths, Jace the Mindsculptor, Brainstorm etc. Basically stuff that involves library manipulation.
Although in my own deck, the red is for a splash, and I don't really ever have many red permanents (lands are colourless btw)...

If you think it's useless, you probably haven't looked at enough magic cards.

This card came out in a set with clash and kinship as featured mechanics.

Guys, people ran fetchlands with JTMS just to shuffle away brainstormed cards. An alternative for long games?

Fetchlands are good for shuffling because they give you the shuffle effect for free immediately, with only the most negligible of a drawback. This card is terrible because it's slow, costs two mana to use, and has a prerequisite.

2/5. If it said "target player shuffles his or her library" it would be glorious. Then you could screw up Counterbalance, and you could respond to "put the card on top of your library" tutors.

Shuffling is not really a red thing, is it? I wonder if "deals 1 damage to target creature" turned out to be overpowered in testing. They had to have thought of that first.

You'd have to be Madblind to play this.

(Yes, you saw that coming)

trust me, shuffling is underrated.

this can solve a card screw. sure, its near useless otherwise, but hell, it can save your ass if needed.

In mono-red edh, I think it seems fine if you want to run more non-basic lands that do things but don't want to make Valakut, The Molten Pinnacle harder to trigger. etb tapped isn't THAT big of a deal in multi-player and stabilizing draw is actually a decent effect in topdeck mode. It's bad under a lot of situations, but on the situations where it is good (you have 7 mountains on top of your deck and no Valakut, The Molten Pinnacle or card filtering) this card has the potential to save your butt. Also, it makes Index ok as well. I don't think this could see play outside of limited or mono-red edh. It works with other cards of the cycle too but that's about it. Card is mostly bad. I just play this in my mono-red edh deck because I'm playing mono-color and I have an excuse to play bad cards. In EDH if you are 2 color or more, this will not make the cut. :P

3/5 for slow formats
0.5/5 for fast formats

You could say on its own shuffling random cards for random draws is useless. But it has the potential to combo! I am glad this card exists, and combined with Sensei's Divining Top could get rid of 3 cards you don't need.

if you coulve shuffled opponent's library it would totally wreck any kind of scry and many blue strategies. but it cant. so its nearly useless, since you can rarely tell if shuffling is helpful.

Useful if you know what the top card is.

If it was just "madblind mountain enters the battlefield tapped,{T}: Add {R} to your mana pool, {T}:shuffle your library" it probably would have been too good, why you might ask? counterbalance/Sensei's Divining Top, you'd be able to see SIX cards for 3 mana, SIX CARDS! And you'd be able to draw one of them, and counter spells with it! Also it has the mountain subtype, making it fetchable, as is, 4 man+screwing with your tempo is too steep to look at 6 cards, and it's not a good card, but I can see why it's designed like it is.
