Still a good card. Never liked the art though, :/ I think it's her face and head-shape, it just looks a little infantile, y'know? The angel of mother-flupping despair should look really badass, and that head just ain't doing it for me.
Awesome Story, that I swear to God is True: I was thinking up what sort of deck list I might pick for the Black-White-Red deck after I saw the spoiler for Kaalia of the Vast. Based only on I thought the arts looked awesome for the tone that kind of deck wants, I called:
Akroma, Angel of Fury Malfegor and this. I also remember wanting to put either Firemane Angel or Razia Boros Archangel in, but I guess that's what Basandra's for instead. I also wanted Reiver Demon again, but they made a better version with dumb art. the art is the only reason I play Reiver Demon. he's from Mirrodin, but for a reason I can't explain his art looks like it belongs to Ravnica, the best goddamn most BEAUTIFUL set Magic has ever had. the name is why I pick Lord of the Pit over Xathrid Demon EVERY time. Im a Vorthos, and I love anything that seems gothicly epic. Ravnica art style FTW 4EVR! I wish all Magic art used the Ravnica style guide. it was just full of win. you can illustrate non-city scenes with that same use of tones and shadows, and create different worlds, and everything can still work.
actually, thinking about the colors of the deck, and the creature types Kaalia lists, its kind of a nobrainer that those would be in it. Fallen Angel also seems obvious. And yet, the predictability of the list to me isn't boring- it just underlines that everyone knows 'these are the awesome guys. you want Angels, Demons and Dragons? play these.'
side note, just about Angel of Despair, for any deck, Commander format or not: if you are having problems with anything whatsoever, she is your go-to gal. Destroy target permanent. put in a playset, and cheat them to hell and heaven and back again. and fish them out of you're grave to use again. this solves lands, creatures, artifacts, enchantments, and planeswalkers. and its on a stick. and that stick is a Dark Angel. best. answer card. ever. the only thing she doesn't do is counterspell. in her colors, try Punish Ignorance. bampf. a proper-built w/u/b deck with those 2 should stop almost anything except undercosted or overpowered effects.

She's also a solid casual reanimator target. Her ability to kill anything on the board is amazing. Also great with recuring CIP effects such as the already mentioned Momentary Blink. Also see Recurring Nightmare.
Costs 2 more black mana than Archon of Justice and doesn't exile the target permanent, but triggers when entering the battlefield and gets +1/+1. Also an Angel. Not a competitive card in the least, but a fine card for casual.

One of my favorite Angels (if not cards) of all time but one big question: why reprint this for Commander and still use that hideous art? Gross.
Angel of Despair is that card, that when down on my luck, i always seem to obtain at the last possible moment to rid the board of my most pressing troubles. Contrary to her name, Angel of Despair has more than once brought joy to my day when i needed it most ;)

I run this in my Isper deck and bouncing her each turn with Venser while using O-rings, Detention Spheres and Wrath of God's to keep everything under control my opponents usually forfeit before I've finished with them.
