I was actually expecting this to show up in Innistrad or Dark Ascension. It being in this premium deck pretty much seals it out though.

I don't know about that. All the reanimation spells in Standard are crazy expensive. They could get away with either one, but they'd make entomb a mythic because they are bastards.

if that wasn't the odyssey art i'd say the guys hats and coats in the background make it a lock for innistrad as far as art direction goes. (or dark ascension, hopefully)

I used to play this in a casual reanimator deck. I put in Rorix Bladewing, Bladewing the Risen and Bladewing's Thrall, then reanimated Bladewing the Risen. I'd love to see this card again.
My favorite use of this card is the following : - T1 : Swamp, Dark Ritual, Buried Alive (search for Bladewing the Risen, Dragon Tyrant and Anger) T2 : Mountain, Exhume Bladewing. The Tyrant comes into play too, with Bladewing's ability. Swing for 16 with both. T3 : Enemy has 4 life left. Bladewing's a 4/4. The rest is up to you. - I like this because it combines my inner Johnny (Dragon reanimation combo), my inner Timmy (BIG DRAGON TYRANT!BBQLOLZ!) and my inner Spike (Turn 2 damage is, without a doubt, SUPER EFFECTIVE). All wrapped up in one.

Unburial Rites. A bit slower then these turn 2 combos, but then again you might might some friends this way. Maybe turn 5 is still to fast to have 2 things out that have no business being on the battlefield yet :D

Yes, I dare: Calling it- Dark Ascension.
Either that, or Dark Ascension will have a great reanimation spell AND THIS. Would make oodles of sense flavor-wise, and really Buried Alive is like 20 billion times safer for standard than ENTOMB. o.O

CHECK the great reanimation spell :D (Better than I gave it credit for when I saw it.) Buried Alive too? For those of you Gatherer commenters who simply post a card autocarded, no exposition, nothing to indicate any degree of care about your comment, you're lazy b@st@rds and it would be better if you just didn't comment. There are rare cases in which just the single card has a certain dramatic flair but in 99% of cases it just shows what a snobby, boring person you are! (And yes, I'm aware this makes me sound about as snobby as them, but it's mostly because I care about quality control!)
Anyways, the art for this one is like the predecessor for Claustrophobia - very similar and disturbing perspective, though Buried Alive is definitely more bold - YOU are the subject being buried rather than an observer of someone in a coffin 13 feet under....... unless the coffin was built for two....... 8D

Turn 2: Exhume Artisan of Kozilek targeting It that Betrays get in there with 21 damage, bam! Turn 2 kill. And if they gained two life somehow then you have all their permanents.
And with lotus petal you can reanimate and kill on turn 1.
