... Darksteel Myr? With a Darksteel Axe? And the Distortion Strike? MY friend almost assembled this combo, until I wrecked it. Easily.

This is a game-winner, if you slap it on an indestructible creature like Phylactery Lich. Even better, give it trample or some sort of evasion and ensure that your opponent will never even get his mana curve back up.

★★★☆☆ (4.0/5.0)(12 votes)
It's not legendary, for there are no witnesses to spread the word about it.
Come on people Knight Exemplar and Puresteel Paladin. If i was building the deck it would be blue white with clone and Phyrexian Metamorph to copy the knight exemplar. Master's call to get metalcraft at instant speed. it could work.
Use with things like Cudgel Troll that can regenerate for cheap costs, also the umbra cycle from Rise of Eldrazi will help your critters stick around. Shame it doesn't work with Eldrazi Monument (since the monument is destroy the same time the creatures would be and once the monument is gone creatures go too). Maybe Ezuri, Renegade Leader?

I'm rather surprised this was reprinted, especially since effects that destroy all lands in play are generally frowned upon these days.
Solid card if exploited properly, such as with indestructible creatures.

Pulled this from my first M2012 booster. Need to pick up a few pieces for my knight deck with Knight Exemplar now. God, people are gonna hate this, but oh well.
I REALLY want to use this but have never gotten a chance for it to go off. I stuck it on a Darksteel Colossus once, didn't get to go off because it got exiled. Stuck it on an Insatiable Souleater, didn't get to go off because the enemy made combat damage taken from toughness instead of power. Stuck it on Phylactery Lich, didn't get to go off because they blocked. Had TWO in play, each stuck on a Knight Exemplar, and it didn't get to go off because their power still wasn't enough. I was even desperate enough to stick it on a bloody Ornithopter with Darksteel Plate and Darksteel Axe. Didn't get to go off because the enemy had flying. Hilarious thought though, a little Ornithopter clad in Darksteel Plate too big for it, dangling a Darksteel Axe and the mother****ing Worldslayer dangling precariously from a winch. Hrah!
But seriously, what the heck can I do to play this card effectively?

Flavorwise, it doesn't make much sense that this doesn't add anything to the equipped creature's power. I'm curious, would a creature swing twice with it with Double Strike? Kind of funny that a creature could be fast enough to hit the player twice with it before being obliterated.
This is such an over-rated, over-costed card. This is one of those moves someone would lose if they had no alternative in their deck for a win. "I'm gonna build my deck around Worldslayer because I don't know how to properly build decks." This is the new n00b-Slayer.

There is no easy way to wield this card. It doesn't make your creature stronger, it doesn't help it survive or get damage through, and it is expensive. However, if you can plan for the destruction (Darksteel Plate, regeneration, etc) it is a game-ender.

When I think of something thats truly worthy of holding the Legendary status in the MTG world, the image of this sword is always the first thing to come to mind. Its always irked the hell out of me that it is not in fact "Legendary"... Even the flavor text marvels at it's awesome power.
Wonderful reprint nonetheless <3
As for working with the mechanic, I think the most fun you can have with it, is swinging while its attatched to Phylactery Lich. Just make sure you've got him bound to the sword, or some darksteel... or it could hurt you just as much.
The ability text rhymes, thus making this card epic.

Seriously, not that hard to make a deck that massively ***es people off with this. Prototype Portal on artifact lands + some common mana artifacts, drop Darksteel Forge, then equip this on a Platinum Angel and swing away. They're (most likely) never coming back from that.
This angel is 8/8 Flying, but 'getting there in the air' is hardly the most attractive thing about her: SHE MAKES YOU AND ALL YOUR PERMANENTS INDESTRUCTIBLE!!!
Game Over, Much?!
It's bad enough that's a Standard-Legal card combination, but here are some things that should put the FEAR OF GOD into you:

I'm sorry WotC, but it's crap that this isn't legendary. Do you hear me Wizards? CRAP! Zaroganos gave a perfect reason in addition to all the others that this should be legendary. How and why, Wizards, would you have more than one of these in play?
Purely for casual but I'm thinking R/B with cards like Goblin Arsonist , Magma Phoenix , and Caustic Hound . If you have enough of those cards onto the board wiping all of your permanents could be extremely bad for your opponent. It forces them into the position of trying to block or destroy whatever is holding that blade. Even if they kill the creature things like Goblin Arsonist and Caustic Hound are gonna splash them anyway and if its the Magma Phoenix there's a good chance all the rest of your bombs will blow anyway so that means they start blocking with creatures that can't kill Magma Phoenix which means you whittle down their forces anyway.
You pretty much force them to lose by putting them in the situation of definitely losing or playing safe enough to maybe not lose. I believe there can be a good strategy for nearly any card if you look hard enough. Even my precious and beloved Knowledge Pool .

But only a few cards grant indestructibility. I grabbed a foil one of these for my Tajic EDH deck. It looks amazing. The shininess on the sword resembles what I'd imagine it'd look like if you actually had one.
With Tajic, 1 hit, and everything is gone except for him and this. Unless you can get him or the sword off the board with just 1 mana, you are dead.
The cast and equip costs are pricey, but with brass squire, you can whip it onto him quickly. Another really good card for the combo is stonehewer giant.
I wish it costed a little less to play/equip, but I can see why they didn't push this card. It can really ruin the fun for some people.

Once made a deck where the win condition was to put this onto an unblockable creature (like Invisible Stalker), give it something like Darksteel Plate, then win by dealing one damage repeatedly. Even better in multiplayer games where there are multiple people to kill so I can systematically kill them by hitting them for one over and over again. Of course, whenever I happened to be able to make an indestructible world-slaying stalker (as I came to call the invisible stalker that was plated and worldslayer'd), people would just concede, but it was fun all the same.

☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
@Buddy3: There actually is no such thing as an "exiled creature" within the rules. Something can only be a creature while on the battlefield; in any other zone other than the stack, it's just a "creature card". (On the stack, it's a "creature spell".) The same logic holds for other permanent types. Also, in general, you can only destroy permanents on the battlefield. So, nope.
Playing and equipping this in EDH is like playing Kaalia. Once it hits the table eyes meet, heads not, mental hands shake and it goes from a free-for-all to an all-against-you match. So I'd give it 5/5, but for the Hate level I'll give it 4/5.
