At first I was not very impressed, but a one drop that kills alot of other ones drops and then comes back stronger is pretty nice.

I think this lil' guy is AMAZING. A 1/1 for that doesn't afraid of anything. A 1/1 for that loves to (un)die for the greater good. Not THAT greater good, you nincompoop; a MORBID greatergood. A 1/1 for that is actually a 2/2 for . A 1/1 for with beautiful and cute artwork. I love it and will try to stompy everyone with it in Standard.
The only thing I don't understand is the flavor of Undying creatures in general. How exactly does a wolf cub come back from being dismembered? It's not like it's a Zombie Wolf, although that sounds like a cool creature type pairing.

I thought for sure that a card like this would cost 3, MAYBE 2. This guy is going to be insane, though I don't really get the flavor.

Gives Doomed Traveler a run for it's money as a 1/1 for one that recurs as a superior creature.

let's argue if it is or is not better than doomed traveler. Can't say, and I get the same feeling I got with doomed traveler: the perfect common creature. Now let's try aggro green.

Turn 1: Forest, Young Wolf Turn 2: Swamp, swing for 1. If Young Wolf is killed, great. If not, Tragic Slip after combat, followed by Hunger of the Howlpack after it resurrects during the end of turn step. Turn 3: go dancing with a not-so-young 5/5 wolf.
The flavor of this card: The wolves of Ulvenwald had to learn at a very young age how to survive in a place where nearly everything was trying to kill them (and everything else). The more fortunate ones (represented by this card) survived their near-death experience, making them stronger in the process.
Absolutely in love with this little wolf..

They printed quite a few puppies and kittens in this set... But yeah, definitely constructed playable.

rather interesting I think. I really like this wolf because it comes back with a +1/+1 counter when it dies, making it an excellent chump blocker for two goes. It can even kill another 1/1 creature and come back as a 2/2 after eating something but choking on it's food and dieing, then coming back alive.
ALSO activates Morbid Effects and great with other Persist combo's
other then that, a 4/5... it's well balanced, but still not 100%

Dies to Sanctuary Cat and then comes back to eat it for breakfast. Am I the only one who sees the sheer win in how unrealistic that is?
it is my werewolf deck ( you know, Immerwolf, Howlpack Alpha and Wildblood Pack do not care if they help a werewolf or just a wolf, so it is together whit Reckless Waif/Merciless Predator they are the only 1 drops in my deck

The first time I saw this, I was like "WTF WERE THEY THINKING MAKING A CARD LIKE THIS FUUUUUU-", but after I calmed down and actually think about it, it's not that bad. It's really really good, but it's not broken, at least.
Ah, still remember that game where I managed to make this little fella into a 7/7 in one turn, using the Ulvenwald Bear and Hunger of the Howlpack after getting this guy killed in combat. I eventually managed to proliferate him up to a 17/17. :)

Be careful putting this into a werewolf tribal. It seems good, but although it is better than Reckless waif, the best 1-drop is wolfbitten captive. If you don't have any, sure, use these, but Young Wolf is better in a mono green.
Turn one: forest, this.
Turn two: mountain, Infernal Plunge, sac this, Huntmaster of the Fells.
And then your opponent gets pretty mad xD

So, according to this card, when Robb Stark tangles with Tywin Lannister (Savannah Lions) he'll be injured, slay Tywin and come back stronger than ever...

Y'know, people say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, but in this case, what kills him does.
I can't tell you how many times I've been blocked by this, then had my opponent play hunger of the howlpack on it cuz it died.
Then he swings a 5/5 pup back at me on his turn.

Wouldn't you be able to combine this with heartless summoning and have an infinite chump blocker? because it comes back with a +1/+1 but the heartless summoning gives him -1/-1. In this logic undying and heartless summoning cancel each other out.

No , only counters cancel each others and heartless is no question of counters.

If the flavor text were accurate (concerning the card's ability) it would read:
The Ulvenwald make no allowances for youth. Today's newborn is today's lunch, and tomorrow's hunter.

As a keyword, persist or regenerate would have been more flavourful. Of course this is far better as mechanic and as always, zombies have this for double the cmc: Butcher Ghoul.

I still like Tukatongue Thallid, but this little wolf is just insanely good.
It may have lost its first fight against the Tundra Wolves,
but they better be ready for the high jump* when this Young Wolf gets its rematch! :D
*a jump even higher than our newborn hunter on the artwork
I call him The Littlest Hobo.
