That's a nice combo PhyrexianAdvocate (though there are of cours still lots of ways to deal with the champion at that point). Anyway, this equipment is fairly costed, and I'll put it into some commander/edh decks to protect my general. It's still not tournament quality though and has the typical equipment weaknesses.

The mirrans will use this, charge into battle... and then be obliterated by infect.
Other than that this is the type of card you think you know, but someone always find a better way of using it.

Not so hot in Scars, but what makes this at all fair in casual?

No, you cannot burn my creature or destroy that equipment. My Goblin Gaveleer isn't so funny now is it?

It implies that Koth will simply fight forever, but with all this poison in the block, forever isnt as long as most people would think

I can't be the only one to see how cruel it was to introduce so much "indestructibility" in a block full of Infect. Sure, it wouldn't be Mirrodin without some darksteel stuff, but they could have added more anti-infect.

This might be a fun equipment to shift around with a Brass Squire.

Really seems like this or the Silverskin Armor should have also prevented -1/-1 counters. Maybe the Neurok will finally figure it out for the next set.

@Phyrexian Advocate: Brittle Effigy which is already in some decks and sideboards and may become more common if people play Blightsteel Colossus much. He could also be pinned down by Tumble Magnet or Icy Manipulator. Any artifact creature with Infect could also still slay him.

Timmy like.
It's a shame about that pesky infect, though. Against everything else it's awesome.

Heh, imagine equiping this to a Goldenglow Moth.

@PhyrexianAdvocate: I'll tell your Etched Champion the same thing I told the other two Etched Champions I killed last turn: Kicked Marsh Casualties.

My knight exemplar loves to wear this and than cast day of judgment the following turn.
PhyrexianAdvocate

Etched Champion equipped with Darksteel Plate and Darksteel Axe

There's virtually no card in all of M:tG that can deal with the champion directly at that point. You have to get rid of at least one piece of equipment first. Granted, there's a plethora of ways to do that. Still...

EDIT:

@PhyrexianAdvocate say that to Apocalypse --Szentekkel

That's why I said virtually. :) Apocalypse and Mutilate both get the job done, staying in set you get Black Sun's Zenith.

I was all excited to strap this on an Exemplar and then DoJ, as UndeadDR mentioned, and then I saw Black Sun's Zenith. Now I'm building a black/red deck. LOL.

What happens if you put this on Thrun, the last troll LOL
Atali
★★★★★ (5.0/5.0) (2 votes)
On Thrun it doesn't do much. Indestructibility is redundant with his existing regenerate function, letting you keep him alive for free instead of 2.
raadface
★★★★★ (5.0/5.0) (3 votes)
indestructibility used to be so much more, you can see how thats changed from here now (scars) compared to old mirrodin just by looking at the cost, -looking @ how much more expensive it was back then, its because it used to mean something

not that it doesn't now, but just not as much (due to accesibilty of exiling cards like revoke existence, and infect particularly in this set)
GrimjawxRULES

@PhyrexianAdvocate: O-kagachi is angry that you forgot its Final Judgment >_>

Also seriously, this card attracts hate in the casual environment... Though I would love to see the casual environment start to pack artifact removal in the main again just as it did when the old Mirrodin block was around (having a nostalgia moment here).

indestructible turned into a game of paper siccors rock when wither appeared, indestructible beats normal, normal doesnt waste extra mana for a useless ability vs wither, and wither beats indestructible,

now that infect is big with the people i play against, and in a set where nearly everyone plays infect, it is useless,

as a whole i do prefer it to the shield of kaldra, as it is cheaper, and in edh having both would be pretty cool, i give it a 3/5 though as its in a set where it is practicly useless

A rather useless card except in the most casual of games. Kind of a pain on an infect creature, although against infect or wither it's absolutely useless.

But to what end does the fighting come? If there can be no victory the natural end of fighting becomes losing. Since losing is the only possible outcome, might as well surrender. I mean you cannot fight forever. It isnt logical. Silly Red Mages.

The uses for this card are almost endless. Makes board-wipes very one-sided.

As for Koth's beautiful flavor text, really makes one wonder how horrible a toll it'd take on one's soul fighting for an eternity.

"That's why I said virtually. :) Apocalypse and Mutilate both get the job done, staying in set you get Black Sun's Zenith.
~PhyrexianAdvocate

Not to mention...
Decree of Annihilation!

Yeah, but a few things more apt to be cast include:
False prophet
Final Judgment
grave pact
Death cloud
Pox
Smallpox
Dimensional Breach
Furnace Dragon
hallowed burial

Plus an abundance of other sac effects, Red-warping/sharing effects, bouncing effects and so on, and that's still only to mainly deal with the creature, removing equipment that's targetable is not out of the question either, like you said.

Not trying to be rude, but just trying to make the point that almost anything can be dealt with. Although, I highly doubt that you'd see most these cards played outside of EDH. Still, No matter how much of a death grip someone thinks they have on a game, other players are always capable of throwing a monkey-wrench in it.

i summon platinum angel equip with dark steel plate then equip again with wispersilk cloak then all you have to do is get your opponent down to 0 life but if my opponent gives me 10 poison counters befor i do this then i lose... obviously unless i get leeches out or Melira, Sylvok Outcast than i pretty much can't lose

very nice. Anything that allows my Merieke Ri Berit EDH general to be resistant to more removal is a good thing, and the fact that it itself is indestructable makes it difficult to remove even that. The fact that it is cheap is a nice bonus.

Hmm...
I'm diggin' the flavour, but I have one concern:
Darksteel is heavy. Really heavy.
This was subtely explained with Darksteel Myr, where his attack is 0, and the picture shows it obviously struggling to move about.
So, while this armor is awesome, shouldn't it be, I don't know, impossible to move in?

Whatever magic embedded in this armor that keeps it from hampering a creature's movement speed needs to be enchanted on Darksteel Myr. I've wished many a time that he had just one point of power on his own..

That said, I keep this and Dead-Iron Sledge in my closet, ready to be used if someone breaks into my house.

@raadface: I absolutely agree with you. One of the reasons why Lord of the Rings is SO FANTASTIC and enabled such awesome spinoffs as Dungeons and Dragons and Magic: the Gathering is because, it took so *little* stretching of the imagination, to believe it was completely Plausible. In fact, one of the Tolkiens, Chris or John even went as far as suggesting we are living in the Seventh Age of the World now.

I love the Sci-Fi and Fantasy genres to death, but the things I like most out of DnD and MTG don't look remotely like WoW, actually. The "Legends" set has that "Excellent Plausibility" quality to it, that even though it's incredibly weak, I will always like those cards and definitely in an ironic twist use them for DnD campaign inspiration.

With "Indestructibility" becoming more prevalent and less relevant, and "Exiling" being almost synonymous with "Answer" (replacing Counter, Destroy, and Mill in different cards if you are trying to Spike your deck to Tomb of Horrors levels), MTG has pretty much established it's simply Not Plausible anymore. I do not believe Earth is a Plane in the Multiverse. I don't hope that an Earth-born Human Planeswalker might Ignite their Spark :/

I still have a wonderfully wild and overactive imagination ^_^ and I still think this game is AWESOME, but now it's Awesome like Power Rangers, not Awesome like Lord of the Rings. :/ Meh.

We need BLIGHTSTEEL MEGAZORD POWER, NOW! :D

@Kindulas I hope you were being sarcastic. Go ahead, enchant my Darksteel Plate. It'll be a fine waste of an aura enchantment and a black mana.

Now if it had said the creature's controller had to SACRIFICE the equipped creature, well then..
