not just fast paced beat down, it's awesome with Culling the Weak and Dread Return in black sacrifice decks.

Ninja of the Deed Shadows
Seems like this card is good combo material

Anyone know what ninja BelloAbril is talking about? I can't find it on gatherer.
This should have had a tombstone in the corner for the nostalgia.

If one Traitor goes to the grave, I'm assuming you can return a second to the battlefield. Making a loop with two of them seems to be a good way to keep Contamination in play, or anything else that requires you to sacrifice something every turn, or benefits from sacrifice. Mortician Beetle comes to mind.
This card is amazing. It's the best black weenie you could put in your deck. It serves the purpose of being fast, refusing to stay dead (an all important trait for many black combos), and being unblockable. I have 3 in my deck and I sincerely wish I had four.

hm. if you have a pawn of ulamog and you sac this card to ashnod's altar and get 2 mana, pawn of ulamog puts a eldrazi spawn into play, sac the spawn for one mana, then use some random filter to turn one generic mana into 1 {B} use it to bring back nether traitor, then sac it to the altar again...would it work? it should, since the rules on the traitor doesn't specify non-token creature. so...INFINITE MANA IN MONO BLACK!!!

Two with Vampire Aristocrat, Bloodthrone Vampire, etc and a Blade of the bloodchief for lulz. Add in evasion from something like fallen ideal, which could give you the pump ability also, and you have a brutally fast win. I like to add pawn of ulamog to get the tokens for double the fun and as a failsafe in case i cannot get two spirits, as the ability doesn't require it to be nontoken put into the grave. Heck, if you have a way to convert the colorless mana from the spawn to black, you can go infinite. I have a deck based on this and reassembling skeletons, and while it can probably be perfected with more expensive cards, it works extremely well against other casual decks. Only eight rares, 4 of which are this card, 3 are blades of the bloodchief and the last is fluff. Very nice.

The Ashnod's Altar and Initiates of the Ebon Hand combo is nice, but can also work well with Phyrexian Altar, without giving infinite mana. An Entomb to make sure one's in the graveyard, and some form of bringing one back from the dead/ onto the battlefield. Any effect that happens when something enters/eaves the battlefield is sure to profit with him.
Alternatively, two of these, a Carnival of Souls, and a Blasting Station. It only does one dmg per tap though, and you lose one life for whenever one gets sent to the graveyard. If you wanted to go further, you could add in a Lich, and a Phyrexian Altar. Think that would work.

I like Nether Traitor. He comes back from the graveyard and doesn't afraid of anything.

Okay, so let me get this straight: first they reprint Nether Shadow, but give it an evasion ability, then make its return ability even more accessible? Count me in.
If asked for which is the best black creature in Magic, this would be one of the candidates. It's cheap, fast, with haste and evasion, and combos with every sacrifice-costed ability, from Lord of the Pit onwards. Its artwork is quite creepy too...

He's good Paolino, no doubts there- but best Black in MTG? no, he's not even in the running.
If you want more violent, try Phyrexian Obliterator. Or Withengar Unbound. If you want smarter, try Bob (Dark Confidant). If you like both, Abyssal Persecutor could be just up your alley...
Of course, he MIGHT be the best FAIR black creature.

Wait a second, there is no filter that uses colorless mana and does not require tapping besides Mox Lotus!
This card is a doozie. Haste+Evasion+Recursion= everything in a creature except pump. Honestly I like this so much more than gravecrawler. 2 of him make your bloodthrone vampire real mean.

Something no one mentioned is his synergy with Pox decks. He recurs easily, has a cheap cost both hardcast and to recur, he is evasive, and doesn't care about being discarded. The fact that pox decks don't need high-aggro damage to win due to the massive loss of life from Pox means he can quickly end the game along side other 2/1s and 1/1s.

Haste, evasion, recursion. Only thing that stops it being completely broken is 1 power.

The card however is quite nice, evasive and persistent.
Maybe a Genesis Chamber for fun.
