4 damage for 2 mana is insane. All permanents being indestructible for 2 mana is insane. Double strike for 2 mana is insane. All of those options on one card is AMAZING. This charm seems kind of overpowered.

As martianshark has said, all abilities separately are "insane" in their own right. Add the fact that you have THE OPTION to do all three of them for two mana AS AN INSTANT.
SANITY becomes an old notion.

This card is just way too pushed. Gruul Charm got shat on so Jund doesn't get better but IMO black is the culprit of Jund being so good.

Best charm in the cycle, no doubt. 1 sided Flamerift? I'll take it! Counter target Supreme Verdict and let them destroy their own creatures? Yes! Double strike? damn! Boros is definitely the guild to play here...

Hands down the best charm in the cycle. Even the last ability (the weakest) is incredibly useful in the right situation. Otherwise, 4 damage to the face or being able laugh at most mass removal? That's the total package.

Boros charm is Gatecrash's Selesnya charm. Just saying.

This will be a defining card for Boros. Being able to resist wrath, get in extra damage, or turn your attack into huge damage all at instant speed is topnotch. There's simply no way this won't see play.

★★☆☆☆ (2.1/5.0) (4 votes)
Indeed, by far the best charm of the cycle, for only 2 mana, you get such versitality between 3 good effects. The first, 4 damage direct, means great pressure on your opponent, making him caring for evrey damage he's about to get. Imagine what deck with 4 of these can do..
The 2nd effect pretty much reads : 'No, Wrath of God kills just your creatures, thanks for the effort.'
And the last effect can be used as a finishing blow, or as an really nice combat trick.
Boros is really strong this set, probably they're never gonna be as strong again.

The powerful charm in the cycle, hands down, the offense is strong, but render all your creatures indestructible for is so dangerous. For two mana you can cast one copy after another, make your creatures indestructible then give the unblocked one double strike, then another 4 damage to opponent.

Expect to see Legacy and Modern burn splashing white for this card from now on.

It's the kind of card I have a hard time imagining a time I wouldn't like to see it in my hand.

The first ability is just nice. I feel a bit greedy in thinking I would have preferred it to be 4 damage to target creature rather than player, but for 2 mana for 4 damage I don't think I have any right to complain.

The second effect is so versatile and useful, it makes it a charm that I can breathe a little easier when I have it in my hand, since I know that whatever my plans are, I won't have to see them foiled by any common removal. Its counter-wrath use is definitely great, and I have a sense it was practically a necessity considering that the Boros ability encourages you to over-extend yourself.

The third ability is there, it's a combat trick, and it's the least exciting, but it's still going to win games. I was never overly impressed with Double Cleave, but since it comes as an additional option on an already great card (and also can be used on other people's creatures in multiplayer games), I'm glad to see it there.

Three amazing options, yet never a dead card. Most of the charms have options that have the power of CMC 1 spells, but all three of these are easily at least on the power of CMC 2-- more damage than Lava Spike and at instant speed, Double Cleave (a CMC 2 spell) and potentially another nice combat trick that can be doubled by saving your PERMANENTS from most board wipes. This doesn't really need to be said, but Boros Charm is incredibly powerful, and I love it.

Its funny how people will sometimes waste this card by giving double strike to an unblocked creature with power less than 4.

Choose one -- Break target planeswalker's nose; or your opponent's Supreme Verdict is a total waste of time; or put your opponent on a serious clock.

After having played both with and against this card extensively over pre-release weekend, I can safely say:

What the hell, Wizards. Was this not playtested? This card is one of the single most broken cards in the history of magic. IN WHAT IS ABOUT TO BE STANDARD, I've been turn 3 killed because of this card at least 4 times in the 6 games I played against my friend's new white/red/blue deck.

I don't understand how they print a card as an uncommon that should be a rare at minimum. It still would have been the best charm of the block if it only did 3 damage to target player and only granted first strike.

@SRSFACE. You say this card is broken. So why should it be a rare? Would it be any less broken if it were a rare or mythic rare? Would you be happier if you had to pay $20 for a copy of this, a card which is clearly competitive? If it is broken, then it shouldn't have been printed at any rarity. The power level of a card should not be determined by its rarity. The reason it sometimes IS, is so they can sell more boosters because people don't want to pay $50 for rare playsets on the secondary market.

I don't think it's broken, but because it's competitive I'm glad it's not a rare. After all, the charm cycle is all uncommon. The downside to this charm is that it's not as flexible as many of the others, as the direct damage and the double strike options will be more or less the same in the decks that want to play this. This means that this charm is less flexible than, say, Azorius Charm, Izzet Charm, Golgari Charm, Selesnya Charm, or even Gruul Charm, all of whose modes are very distinct. So Boros Charm will either a) let you push more damage through, or b) save your team from some sweepers. There's not really a third option. I still think might be the best charm, though, because those are just the two options a beatdown deck wants.

The only real downside to this charm is that it loses a lot of its power on the defense. Not to say it becomes a bad card, but I prefer Selesnya Charm because I find it more versatile, even if it is a little less explosive than this one. That said, every R/W should play 4. Two combat tricks that work great for R/W, plus a fireblast to the head, for only 2 mana this gets a lot of damage in

In my opinion, Boros got the best charm because Red/White is the color combination that, by my experience, needs to be the most fine-tuned in order to operate. Not even operate well: just operate. They are the colors of all-out aggression, which can be easily blunted when a control or midrange deck stabilizes and no more damage will go through without massive losses for the aggro player. Boros Charm addresses two of the biggest problems aggro runs into: board wipes and life cushions. Board wipes are very strong right now with Supreme Verdict and Terminus lurking around, and the charm can't do jack against the latter. Thragtusk may not be the all-powerful gargantuan it once was, but five life and a spare body are still a big deal when an aggro deck starts to run out of steam and can't attack as safely anymore. Boros Charm gives aggro the tools it had previously lacked, and I, for one, appreciate the fact that my strategies can actually interact with control now. Of course a big part of this is the fact that control was nerfed into the ground after Mana Leak, Vapor Snag, and Ponder rotated out, but hey, standard changes, remember? In eight months, even Snapcaster Mage will be out of the spotlight.

Boros already got the best creatures in the set. I don't know why Wizards put three different 3 mana spells on a single 2 mana charm. Someone at RnD should not be working there.

If you choose the first modal option, you are allowed to physically slap the targeted player upside the head. BAM! 4 TO THE FACE! But if you choose the second, they are allowed to physically slap you.

Before you start sobbing over Boros Charm being too good, at least take a second to consider how powerful ALL of the charms are, and/or take a look at some cards with the Radiance mechanic to get a sense of the karmic justice owed to Boros ;)

This is a definite first pick if you're playing draft (my format of choice), which is why I hardly get to play with this card. Finally got to play it last night as it was in the first pack I opened (passed up a Realmwright, no major loss), and by some stroke of luck, I was passed a second one in the third pack. This came in handy when facing another Boros player, who Act of Treasoned my Gift of Orzhova enchanted Fortress Cyclops and swung for everything, thinking, "No way he could have another Boros Charm."

Got my creature back, I casted Boros Charm, doublestrike and lifelink for 14 damage. GG.

Not bad for Commander, this charm. Not the most powerful charm, but pretty good.
The double strike is the most important part, since it helps your Commander reach the lethal 21+ damage barrier on an opponent much more quickly. Not to mention it also helps as a combat trick, or to trigger "this deals damage / combat damage to a player" abilities twice.

The indestructible part ain't bad either. While it doesn't help vs steal, bounce, shuffle, sacrifice, exile, pacifism like enchantments, clone and similar effects, it's still nice to have around.

The four damage can be used to kill or slow down a planeswalker an opponent controls.

Man this charm is so good. Indestructibility is very relevant, and a great way to stop sweeper effects from ruining your day. At worst it'll usually 1-for-1 as a way of saving a creature, at best it can net big card advantage by making a sweeper one sided. Can also be used as a combat trick, turning a trade into 1-sided victory.

Double-strike has many practical uses - as a combat trick, as a way of getting multiple combat-damage triggers, as some extra damage going through - very practical. If they're tapped out and you've got a solid attacker going through, that double-strike is going to be brutal.

Even the 4 damage, which is always going to be card disadvantage is just fantastic. 2 mana for 4 damage is pretty solid, and in the aggressive colors of Boros it can easily end the game, especially if you're running any other burn. Even in standard, it's not going to be uncommon to go EOT Searing Spear + Boros Charm to finish your opponent.

At *least* 4/5.

The third effect is actually also a combat trick, especially against wither/infect/everlasting torment. I think the way to look at the abilities, despite them being similar, is that you get a minimum of 4 to target player, and if you're swinging with a trampler, especially one with 5+ power, you get even more through.

Crazy charm. Burn 4 is really strong. Anti wrath or anti spot removal for everything is really strong. Giving a creature doublestrike is awesome for Johnny and Timmy. Great combat trick or giant heaps of damage as well.

5/5 charm one of these effects would see play on a 2 cmc card.

A rare example of an instant that is unequivocally incredible in aggro decks. It can push those last points through against an opponent who thinks they managed to get stable (using the first OR third modes depending on situation, no less!), save you from a board wipe, act as a combat trick to save an important creature (again, using any mode but the first), among other applications. The chances of none of these things coming up are extremely low, meaning this card doesn't fall into the common trap of being a dead card in an aggro hand, which has a nasty habit of reducing your damage juuuust enough that you can't kill the opponent any more.

Also, you can spend six mana for a one-sided Armageddon. That's gotta count for something.

Annoyingly good. I always want to take it out of my deck because I can fit something else there, but then I imagine the power of each effect. It's just too good to not use - even in an EDH deck. It snipes planeswalkers, burns players to finish them off, gives me double sword of fire and ice triggers, sneaks in a massive hit with Tajic when he has battalion, and makes all of my really mean cards even more mean (devastation for example).

Very interestingly, once thought to be extremely overpowered, this card is strong but does not dominate Standard by any means. Lifegain is much stronger than before, with Thragtusk, Sphinx's Revelation and Huntmaster of the Fells being tournament staples. Once upon a time almost the only route to control was Wraths and counterspells, and this kind of mass indestructibility effect wasn't nearly readily available. Nowadays there are tons of things for an aggro player to worry about other than Supreme Verdict, going all the way from Pillar of Flame to Restoration Angel. It's not like the old days anymore. Back in those days, a 4 damage spell for 2 would've been a godsend, when the only aggro strategy was to be as fast as possible. Today this strategy is still available (Naya Blitz), and indeed as an old-timer I respect the strength in this kind of strategy, but you could do equally well forgoing Boros Charms for Boros Reckoner, Domri Rade and Thundermaw Hellkite. And this is a very good thing.

The problem I have with this card is that compared to the other charms, which all seemed to have two one-mana effects and one not-quite-two-mana effect, this one pretty solidly has three two-mana effects. Instant-speed four damage to the face or your Jace is two mana. Instant-speed double strike, as seen with Double Cleave, is two mana. Indestructible for everything... hasn't really been seen on anything other than Avacyn, but since it's effectively a Counterspell for Supreme Verdict, let's call it two mana. Compare this to Simic Charm, which has Unsummon, Giant Growth, and hexproof for everything, which I'll assume to be about equal to indestructible since hexproof can dodge Tragic Slip but not Verdict. And yet, with its two one-mana effects and one two-mana effect, Simic Charm is still very good, which puts Boros Charm pretty solidly at "overpowered". Not in general, just for its cycle.

And of course, I run a playset of this in my UWR deck. I'm not going to pass up something this awesome. 5/5
