What if a creature card already has unearth? which ability do i pay, the creature or the traitor king?

If Sedris is in play and a creature card in your graveyard already has unearth, then you can choose to play either Sedris's or the creature's.

I don't really like this guy. The manacost is pretty high for a 5/5 without any abilities except the unearth one (I'd expect it to have swampwalk, fear or whatever in addition). Also, to have it be of any use, you'd either need to buried alive very fat creatures, or you have to put utility creatures in there, like Solemn Simulacrum. Well it's probably fun to build a deck around him, but all in all, he could have been better imho.

I think this card is actually really good in a Grixis deck, especialy with cards that have leave or come into play abillities. Extractor Demon cements that idea and allows you to mill almost a whole deck half way through the game. The mana cost for Sedris is a bit high but the ability may be well worth it. The Ability allows me to unearth my Blood Tyrants and Prince of Thralls(if my enemy manages to kill him) to hit big fast. All in all a great card and an exellent addition to any good Grixis deck.

this card goes AMAZINGLY well in an Evoke deck. using elementals from lorwyn and morning tide, with come into play and leave play abilities. right now im trying to make an EDH deck with this guy as my general, and there are a ton of elemental cards in their like shreikmaw, spitbellows, and mournwelk. but i think everyone will target me cause of how anoying the deck is :)

It looks like he should be a demon, not a zombie. How would a zombie ressurrect guys? They're not even sentient. Whatever. Flavor doesn't matter when you have an awesome card like this. It looks great with dredge...

This card is pretty amazing, both discard and aggro red can really benefit from the unearth, and his mana cost isn't so extreme as to be unplayable. He can't be instant lightning bolt or doom bladed, though he's far from having protection from removal. Still an awesome choice for a blue/black/red deck.

This guy is somewhat exactly what a non-alara block UBR deck needs; think in the possibilities beside evoking: re animator for {2}{B} ANY creature, and if you have a stifle with you u can call the unearthed creature a resurrected one. The mana cost is a little high but worth it; and yeah, you technically have a 5/5 with no abilities, but hell, you have a graveyard with blood thirst.

I think, oddly enough, that he is one of the least compatible cards with Grixis. Why, you might ask: in grixis, things already have Unearth, and he doesn't need to give it to them.
I think that he would go well in a deck where you abuse discard or sacrifice. Personally, I would almost say to have him be the only card that accesses the graveyard, so that other cards don't step on his ability.

The best way to use this guy is devour. Devour some stuff, unearth the devoured stuff, so that they can be devoured again.

Arachibutyrophobia, Sedris is sentient only because he, in life, made sure that he would retain his memories in death. And he's not really resurrecting them, it's that it's hard to say whether things on Grixis are ever truly dead or alive.
Anyway, I like when a card takes a block mechanic and makes it work outside of the block, so this card gets good marks from me.

I'm not sure if it works or not,
But if it does:
Training Grounds
So many possibilities...do I load my deck with Ball Lightnings? Blue cards with various annoying "comes into play" effects? Black deathtouchers? How about all three?
In addition, I get a 5/5 zombie badass that has an axe with teeth in it and horns that look like Arnold Schwarzenegger's flexed biceps.
This is why we play Magic, gentlemen.

For anyone who says the flavor on this guy is off, read the story about him from Daily MTG, it's fantastic. I'd link it, but I read it a year ago, so if you're interested in why this guy is one of the coolest cards ever made in Magic (aside from the jaw-dropping art), go find it yourself.
This guy doesn't require a deck to be built around him. If you do build a deck around him, of course he becomes much better, but any deck with creatures is going to see them die, and he can bring them back in the late game when your board presence is hurting.
Why is this card fantastic? I don't like this 3-color combination, but it makes me want to play it. Sure, it could have fear, which would make it that much better, but if it can headline its three colors, it's still a fantastic card.

So, possibly dumb question I need to have cleared up: How does the second condition for exiling "if it would leave play" work with Master Transmuter? I thought it would just exile the card, but if it doesn't then...well it be pretty sweet possiblity for a Sedris deck to have.
In rereading the rules, I believe it would just exile it (the card), but if anyone knows different, be sure to correct me.

Teferi's Veil stops the end of turn sacrifice and makes it easier for you to get around both spot and mass removal. Only issue is the creatures need to attack and not die, but if they do then you get to keep them indefinitely.

Take all the unnecessarily huge cyclers from the block (I'm looking at you Ridge Rannet), cycle them for card advantage and then unearth them.
Cool card, but he looks like he was scooped out of a WoW cutscene.
Rogue-Trooper31
★★★★☆ (4.5/5.0)(1 vote)
With this guy you don't want to just play normally, you want cards like Scion of Darkness. Anything that uses cycling or maybe even evoke like Shriekmaw would work with him. If you are running an EDH deck like him you are going to want both of those, so you have an ample supply of creatures in your graveyard to unearth. Or get a big fatty creature and discard it. Then just bring it into the game for a quick hit and run with unearth. Over all i think he is great in the right deck, but your deck has to be built around him. Follow the above tips and you should be able to get a good deck running in no time :)

I have a commander deck with Sedris. The ability to give any creature unearth is pretty crazy, and seems to synergize extremely well with creatures that have great come into play effects. For example: Conquering Manticore, Flametongue Kavu, Reiver Demon, Rune-Scarred Demon, Gilded Drake, Phyrexian Ingester, and Duplicant. You get the idea. Unearth can only be done at sorcery speed unfortunately, but allows for some interesting tricks.
5/5 from me for sheer evil utility and being a zombie king.

One of the coolest cards of all time! Soo many possibilities within his colors, not to mention one of the most badass EDH generals ever! If you know the block story at all, then you would know how awsomely flavorful he really is! And is there ANYONE who would disagree that he has one of the most epic flavor texts of all time? A bona-fied 5/5 masterpiece! (Then again, I could be biased...)
When you have Sedris and the Bazaar Trader in play and Yukora and/or Phyrexian War Beast in your graveyard, unearth a War Beast or Yukora and donate it with Bazaar Trader. Then laugh maniacally at the end of turn as your opponent sacrifices all non-ogre (most of the time just all) creatures they control, or sacrifice a land and lose a life.
BANG: CONVOLUTED AND UNDERWHELMING COMBO.

Mr. Sedris? Yixlid Jailer would like a word with you...
I run him in EDH, and let me tell you, he's effective. Blue, Black, and Red get access to some of my very favorite spells in the game, and very powerful creatures to boot. I don't even cast him in half my games; the mere threat of him in the late game with Black Market and Cabal Coffers with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth is usually enough to significantly rustle my opponent's Jimmies. With fatties like Demon of Death's Gate, powerful enters the battlefield effects such as Rune-Scarred Demon and Sphinx of Uthuun, and the amazing synergy with Titans, the deck often grinds my opponents into the dust. It feels good.

Linked here from Misthollow Griffin. Now that is quite the unbeatable creauture when paired with Sedris here. Only thing stopping it is a Condemn or the like
A quick scan of the comments sees no mention of Sundial of the Infinite. The Oracle text for unearth says: "Exile it at the beginning of the next end step or if it would leave the battlefield." and ending your turn early with the sundial skips that end phase, preventing that triggered effect from ever triggering, so you keep your creature. (It won't trigger on future end steps) If the creature is destroyed or bounced however it will still be exiled as a replacement.
I am constructing a Sedris EDH deck right now, I actually got a foil one in a back when he came out and meant to make the deck but lost him. well I found him dented and a little abused in my roommate's collection and reclaimed him and now he shall have the throne he deserves. A few nasty cards I have not seen mentioned, hopefully slightly less obvious than "Big entrance effects": Street Wraith (Cycle for 2 life, then bring back the solid creature), Aetherling (If he exiles himself, he still returns, and when he does, won't have unearthed's side effects. Unkillable and nasty), Pilfered Plans, Breaking//Entering and Dream Twist (Potent self mill options, and don't forget to use them on an opponent when they tutor) Cellar Door gets a special mention for infuriating players who would Terminus or similar to you, having great flavor and being (Slow) self mill that'll net you zombies as well.

Let's say you Sundial to end your turn in the post-combat main phase. Your unearthed creature will not get exiled at that time, but the trigger lingers. At the beginning of the next player's end step, your creature will be exiled.
Now let's say you proceed to the end of your turn, let unearth trigger, and then Sundial to end your turn with the unearth trigger still on the stack. Your unearthed creature will not get exiled at that time, and the trigger has triggered, so it doesn't linger. You get to keep your creature until it leaves the battlefield (then it gets exiled).
