So I had a black/red goblin deck, it was based around killing goblins and doing direct damage before even having to attack. But it got stale, I was getting bored and contemplating making it a straight up swarm. Then I pulled Lightning Crafter from a pack and was all "Nevermind".

champion isn't even a bad ability either, if at all.

This would have been good if it only targeted creatures. But that wasn't good enough; they made it a straight up Lightning Bolt on a stick. Awesome.

dam.. and kamahl, pit fighter has always been 1 of my favorites, but now this guys even better. a non legend, toughness of 3, and less mana cost than pit fighter. too bad. o well nice card! haha

Has anyone contemplated putting Crab Umbra this guy? Seems like a mighty fine move to me. I think the aura will work very well with this card, letting it untap for three mana to lob another Lightning Bolt at whatever you might desire, all while protecting it from your opponent's bolts and pesky "Destroy" effects.
A great example of Raw Power. He is difficult to just incorporate in a deck though, because of the creature type requirement. I am very thankful that he has the option of two creature types, both of which contain some very good creatures within those types. This is indeed a very good addition to my EDH deck.
Play this with mogg war marshal in your goblin deck or elvish visionary/eternal witness in your shaman deck.

Combining this guy with Thornbite Staff is like gluing 3 Goblin Sharpshooters together, albeit at more mana cost overall (including equipping the staff, at least 10 cmc), and just as many cards to pull off (unless you champion a token). It's actually not as badass as you might think. I'd rather run Goblin Sharpshooter with a Basilisk Collar. Still, this a very effective card, especially in a deck that runs both it and Sharpshooter.
One intriguing thing someone mentioned is Championing Eternal Witness. Effectively, should your Lightning Crafter die, your Eternal Witness hits the battlefield and you can put him right back in your hand, then Champion the Witness again at your next main phase.
I do not think this guy is better than Royal Assassin in that RA can effectively shut down opponents' creatures entirely regardless of creature toughness, with a cheaper cmc, without having to Champion anything.

it seems like no one sees the infanant combo with kiki-jiki here. he enters with the champion trigger on the stack copy it, championing kiki-jiki, tap for 3 sac it to a sac outlit, kiki-jiki comes back untaped sense and repeat.

The excellent goblin lords giving haste (Goblin Warchief and Goblin Chieftain) greatly improve this card, ensuring you get some value before the opponent can muster removal.

this is a good card and all but there are better cards such as spikeshot goblin. spikeshot goblin can get stronger and do is power to creature or player

If a 3/3 Goblin Shaman able to cast a free Lightning Bolt every turn is not awesome, than my definition of awesome must be seriously wrong.
