Seems this guy has things under controll. I can think of lots and lots of ways this could be ridiculously powerful...

This is indeed a quite versatile ability.
You might have to do a double-take to note the entire possibilities this card offers. You can:
1. Save creatures from certain spells and/or abilities
2. Trigger cip/etb effects (or "ltb" effects)
3 a) Destroy all tokens (they won't return)
3 b) Destroy all auras (they get destroyed after becoming unattached)
4. Unattach all equipment
5. Prevent your opponent from attacking
6. "Restore" each creature
- they all enter untapped
- all damage on them is removed
- additional counters or similar enhancements are lost as well

A combo with Soul Warden, Master Apothecary, Ancestor's Prophet, Loxodon Hierarch or Orzhov Pontiff might be especially useful since they synergize in Cleric tribal decks.

Run with Kismet and Crackdown.

I don't think you use it with gather specimens... That's ten mana for a very breakable combo. If you pull it off anyway, good for you!

@Mode: What's the use with Master Apothecary?
You mean to use it after you have attacked so that you can tap your clerics?
I'd use Akroma's Devoted instead.

Apart from that, a very versatile and powerful ability!

Does the ability cause Planar Guide to return to the battlefield along with the other creatures?

At worst, he's a 1/1 for 1, which isn't terrible at all. At best, he'll screw up your opponents Day of Judgement, reuse all your etb/ltb triggers, give all your creatures vigilance for a turn or, in an emergency, work as an expensive Holy Day that untaps your opponents creatures

Anybody forgetting ally decks? Ghostway is another card that works but Planar Guide acts as both a fog and ghostway. Not bad but ruins the surprise the factor...5/5 for me though.

Dude saved my bum from a Dragon Broodmother's token onslaught the other day. I was like: "oh your attakin with a horde of flying death machine tokens? Well now they dont exist so ha!"
I now have great respect for this things awesomeness. Deserves 4.5 minimum.

Don't forget all the craziness of the Lorwyn elementals that could happen with this guy.

Sheesh. I would not trust a guide for Planar Tourism who gets lost and never comes back!

@Garbagegatherer
You can activate this thing's ability on your opponent's end step, then cast Gather Specimens on your own turn after you untap. You don't need to ramp to ten mana to do that!

@Econael: Master Apothecary's ability can be used by each cleric twice if Planar Guide blinks them all out. (You can tap them to the apothecary's ability, use the guide, then tap them to it again)

Alot more useful then he seems! Aside from Mode's points this also sneaks morphed creatures face up
