Another staple. May or may not be better than the new Dread Cacodemon, but sure has a cooler name. And a better smile.

I was hoping for Havoc Demon, but oh well

A demon able to kill an army of a million angels just by making his entrance, with an evil smile, this is pure malevolence, and Iove it.

If you're looking for something as playable as Abyssal Persecutor, and as Demonic looking as Lord of the Pit- look no further. This guy has you covered for all your Demon Trope needs. The drawback part is you're only allowed to play 4. >:D

If you cast this with Hypergenesis, will it nuke the field?

@didiwinalready: No, hypergenesis tells you to "put" the cards into play. This card only triggers if you "cast" it. If you're looking to come out ahead with a hypergenesis, try something like Angel of Despair, Bogardan Hellkite or Terastodon

I don't know about this guy these days. 5/5 flier ain't what it used to be, his board wipe is very situational, AND you can only get it by hard-casting him. If he were being done again, he'd sill only be a rare--not a mythic. Demons, IMO, are a neglected tribe.

One of my favorite cards. Even if I can't use the triggered ability, it's still just nice to have the 6/6 flyer out there. That's probably won me more games than the creature-destruction option.

Extremely cost efficient for the body & effect. And doesn't allow regeneration. Even after these years this still feels unfair when you are on the receiving end. But a good and balanced card when compared to Phyrexian Obliterator or Baneslayer Angel. 4/5

I love cards like this. It's effect is simple, and doesn't need to be part of some huge combo chain to be devastating, though you can still link it up to one for even more hurt. Obviously great for running mono-black. A bit too expensive for if you splash some black in your artifact deck, but there are probably some workarounds that I can't think of for the time being.

Amazing card - pure evil, as it should be.

Here is a great way to lose friends: Stock the field with black creatures and swamps. Play natural affinity to turn all lands into creatures. Then play reiver demon. Your swamps are creatures, but they are black. Your normal creatures are also black. You opponent's lands and creatures are toast. Oh yeah, and you have a 6/6 flyer on the field. They usually concede at that point.

He descends in a cloud of whirling death, sparing only those who share his nature. One of my favorite cards.

You get a Terror and you get a Terror and you get a Terror!

The flavor is hilarious: his grin is so evil that everyone is so terrified that they die.

Reiver Demon, in its time, probably wasn't the best card to play.

In Mirrodin, many of the creatures were Artifacts, and all tournament-worthy decks were artifact based. I know for a fact because one store owner I go to was Mexico's champion in 2004, and he said that every deck was Affinity-based (including his).

I just have 1 question: His ability doesn't activate when Kaalia brings him out, right? Since he wasn't cast, it doesn't count...
The reason I ask is because I've played Kaalia, attacked, brought him out, and then wiped the board without anyone interjecting. I do use the Divine Vs Demonic copy, which says "if you played it from your hand", which confused me at first...

Only the evil and unliving can even bare his presence. This is truly a demon from hell.

Awesome board-wiper. His power in multiplayer is surpassed only by Plague Wind. If you are the only one playing black, everyone will HATE you when he resolves, and *somebody* is gonna get screwed hard regardless. Then the next game, expect to have everyone ganging up on you :/ (Then I MUTILATE! MRUHAHAHAHA!)

Funny thing is that he kills Akroma and Bankslayer Angel by just making his appearance! Shame about Avacyn though. Well, hehe, that's what him + Induce Despair is for ^_^ !

Love mono Black!

He and Dread Cacodemon saved my arse once when I was one attack away from dying for seemingly endless amount of turns and pulled the final swamp after getting no lands for many, many turns. They wiped away two waves of centaur/bird tokens, both doubled by Rhys the Redeemed a few times. Then I started bringing my foe's life total down from the 80+ he had gathered with Trostani, Selesnya's Voice and lifted about 40 cards from my GY with Praetor's Counsel. It was EDH and I forgot to use my commander Jarad for the whole game except for the final sacrifice of a demon to end the game. My finest and dumbest survival story in MTG yet, but I'm sure my friend/opponent was a little intimidated after the game. ;D

I love demons and think they would make an interesting tribe. 6/6

Easily one of the most epic EtB effects on a black creature

Love this guy. My Demon Tribal deck makes regular use of him. So good to just swat the board away...

I love a good Demon, and I love a good nuke!

This guy is both; though I prefer Pestilence Demon by a little bit since it does basically the same thing; doubles the clock on your opponent, and eats black weenies or artifacts; such as Zombies, Myr, and Vampires (same with mutlicolored creatures.)

soul foundry and reiver demon. if you have the mana the other player will never have a creature. and you can have a mass of evil 6/6 demons. One of my favorite combos is Reiver Demon, Orochi Hatchery and grave pact. generate a ton of little green snakes. nuke them with the demon. grave pact kills the players field if the demon doesnt.

As tacky as this sounds every time I cast this card I get a mental picture of Diablos from Final Fantasy VIII hurling a black ball of death toward the board; and smiling while doing it. I have always had a special place in my heart for this guy especially in multiplayer games, if the other players didn't save a counter be prepared for every player to fantasize punching you in your face, because in all honesty you probably have the same grin as that demon.
