One of the coolest, simplest cards I know with so many possibilities. It's cards like this that make Magic the fun game that it is (and as a bonus, it's Isochron Scepter-able.)

One of my all time favorite cards for it being able to repeat any come into play ability or leave play, and for its sheer awesomeness!

I hope this card is reprinted in Worldwake. It would make white/blue a viable type 2 build used with Kor and Meddling Mage

This card is a combo with creatures with enters-the-battlefield effects such as Viridian Shaman, leaves-the-battlefield effects such as Phyrexian Bloodstock, creatures with vanishing such as Waning Wurm, creatures with evoke such as Shriekmaw, creatures with unearth such as Hell's Thunder, creatures with morph such as Krosan Cloudscraper (yes, this does cause a face-down creature to be flipped face-up), noncreatures with morph such as Zoetic Cavern, creatures with echo such as Goblin Patrol (for whatever reason you'd want to pay the echo cost a second time), and for purposes of blocking and fizzling spells every other targetable creature in the game.

This one pwns with allies.... like all flickers

Actually, there are a few echo creatures this would be good with--the ones whose ability works on coming into play. Hunting Moa, anyone?

Although i have to say Zher0 stated that perfectly, although it can also help immensely against your opponent's enchantments, such as Pacifism or even against Dark Banishing and Wrath of God.

As an added bonus over Flicker, it also removes token creatures from the game. Even if it can't target your opponent's creatures... for, y'know, the odd occasion when you might want to destroy one of your own token creatures...

Does this remove -1/-1 counters on creatures?

Did someone say U/W allies? Hi-O!

Utterly insane with Mulldrifter.

I have a question. Does a creature get summoning sickness after blinking in and out like this? I assume that it does... but I pray that it doesnt.

@Londemonium - Wrath of God is one of the few things this won't help against unfortunately. Let's say your opponent casts WoG, and you cast this in response to save a creature. Your creature disappears, fizzling any spells targetting it like Lightning Bolt, then reappears. Then WoG resolves and kills everything.

Such a shame that damage doesn't stack anymore. Even if they reprinted this, it would be way less cool than it was when it was played in limited. Shame, shame, shame. One of my favourite cards ever... it was.

Perfect card for my blue/white morph deck. "Unmorph" huge creatures for free, or save them from dying. Then do it again from the graveyard later in the game.

@Sleazebag: Short answer: Yes. If you blink the creature during your turn, it can't attack or tap unless it has haste. If you blink the creature during opponent's turn, it's like playing a creature with flash; it could attack or tap next turn.

I hope this gets reprinted in Inninstrad. The few spoilers already show the return of flashback. This card is soooo coool!

With Mystic Snake on the battlefield, a playset of this card is functionally 8 Counterspells.

Mulldrifter 3WhiteBlue
Flying 2/2
When Mulldrifter enters the battlefield, draw three-and-a-half cards.

Blink is one of my favorite cards ever, I hope it gets reprinted

Mmmkay, so this issue has not really come up before with me, but does anyone know whether this counts as a blue spell rather than a white spell when it's played for it's flashback cost?
sonorhC

Its casting cost contains only white mana, therefore it's a white card, and when it's on the stack it's a white spell. It's just a white spell that happens to have an ability that uses blue mana.

The Blink is a classic Johnny card that doesn't require a full Johnny to utilize it. Amazing synergy with any "Enters the battlefield..." effects and effectively a counterspell against a spell targeting your creature. But best white instant ever? I think not: Swords to Plowshares, Path to Exile, and Unmake are just more ubiquitously useful.

Use it with Dryad Arbor for Landfall triggers.

I wondered why tokens couldn't come back to the battlefield with this card. I knew tokens cease existing outside the battlefield because of rule 704.5d. But that is a state-based action, and SBA's aren't checked during the resolution of an ability. But for those wanting to know, the rule that applies to this card for tokens is 110.5g.

(And this is where I regret just abandoning my first account when I got fed up with constantly forgetting its passcodes...)

Somewhat interdicted by Cloudshift once AVR goes into commission. At least this is still good for the flashback aspect.

@ blink182zombies: As SkyknightXi already hinted at, Cloudshift is coming in Avacyn Restored (2 expansions after Innistrad), the month when this was posted. It does the same thing for only {W} and no flashback.

I wish they hadn't dropped flashback in Avacyn Restored. This would have been a perfect fit.

Prefer the term blink over flicker. Excellent card as well.
DaJoshMaster
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
@rexagon - Blink is usually used to refer to an effect that returns the creature to the battlefield at the end of turn (e.g. Venser), whereas flicker returns it instantly.

Nearly every card in Time Spiral block was a throwback to at least one previously printed card.

This card references the card Flicker which introduced the 'flicker' or 'blinking' mechanic in white, secondarily in blue.

You know a card's awesome when people start using its name to refer to its general effect. Sure, Flicker was the Ur-Example and Astral Slide was the first such effect to see tournament success, I've never heard people say anything other than "blinking" that Obzedat or AEtherling.

Venser, Shaper Savant has never been as evil to face.
