Uhm, so basicly all your lands can be targeted as creatures!
Now suddenly everything in the game can wreck your mana pool...
Play this only if you have a plan!

Steely Resolve can help you to some degree, but you're still vulnerable to wrath effects... play at your own risk!

Indeed there are a lot of risks involve, but if I have a token deck this isn't really that big of drawback, I mean the lands are now easier to destroy part. I combo this with Baru, Fist of Krosa, and throw in some of those recent landfall cards, you know have a army of 20/20 tokens with trample :P

this card + doubling season + anything that makes saproling tokens = craziness.

Does this affect lands in the graveyard?

If I had 20 Forests in my graveyard and had Mortal Combat in play would I win on my upkeep?

Catmurderer - no, unfortunately, as what it does is take permanents with the types Basic Land - Forest and Creature - Saproling, so only Forests can walk.

Another problem with this card: Forests you play after resolving Life and Limb will have summoning sickness. You'll be setting back your mana curve by a turn.

Terra Eternal.
Edit: There is a combo involving Kavu Recluse and 2 other cards that lets you use this to kill your opponent's lands and creatures.

This is a complex combo but i want to pull it off once
Play Death's Shadow early game to get it in the graveyard
Play either Rampaging Baloths or Ob Nixilis, the Fallen
Then Play Life and Limb andMorbid Bloom
and get 13 lands into play at once. Muahhaha.

Jeez, this just leaves you vurnerable to every single boardsweep out there. Only good if you're gonna win the turn it comes out, and only if your opponent doesn't have instant speed board wipe.

I don't know off the top of my head how to have Life and Limb and the Kavu Recluse kill all their lands AND all their creatures with just two other cards, but if you throw a Thornbite Staff on the kavu and then drop an Engineered Plague naming saprolings, you can at least kill all their lands.

With Life and Limb, when I put a land into play, can I use the land for mana right away?
can i attack with the land right away?

with the saprolings same questions. Since they are land & creatures at the same time how does the summoning sickness effect the lands and saprolings?

The Forest/Saprolings are not tokens, so Golgari Germination means your Forests/Saprolings just will not die.

And just like that you have a sac-land draw engine in Psychotrope Thallid. Immense.

QUESTION: Do Forest/Saprolings have summoning sickness if they return via an effect such as Golgari Germination? Or can they tap for mana straightaway?

Fun with a good Thallid deck. throw in Seed the Land and Beacon of Nature and you've got lots of tokens even without a Mycoloth or Doubling Season. Of course you'll want an Essence Warden to get your life gain on. It won't be a perfect deck but it'll be fun. If you really want to make someone's mind melt, do Life and Limb (all saps are forests, all forests are saps), Ambush Commander (forests you control are 1/1 elf creatures) and a Hivestone - so now all your forests are Elf-Saproling-Forest-Slivers. Wrap your head around what THAT must look like.

I have to say, I've grown to like most parts of this card in a fungus deck. Either you've overextend your cards and get killed by a mass kill, and the drawback is pretty whatever (you would most likely lose anyway) or you 'overextend' and beat them faster than before or you save all your creatures and win! (Perhaps a Wrap in Vigor. The mana cost is the part I dislike, at four, its just a little too late for my deck, I don't really care about having 10 mana turn 5, odds aren't good I need it (very few spells above four).

Its cool, but it feels a little expensive, at 3 or 2, it would be bomb

I'm not sure that it's possible to destroy all your opponent's creatures and lands with only Life and Limb, Kavu Recluse, and two other cards, unless the two cards you're looking for are Living Plane/Nature's Revolt and Plague Wind or Enchanted Evening and Spring Cleaning. I doubt it, though.

Tasks:
(1) Turn all your opponent's lands into Forests. Kavu Recluse must be involved somehow, and he has to hit every land. He cannot do this on his own, so we'll need one of our two cards to make this happen. The entire purpose of Kavu Recluse as an addition to Life and Limb is undoubtedly to allow any land to be destroyed in the same way as a Forest (see 2), a Saproling (see 3), or a creature (see 4).
(2a) Turn all your opponent's creatures into Forests. The easiest way to do this is via Life and Limb, by changing them to Saprolings.
(2b) Destroy any number of Forests at will.
(3a) Turn all your opponent's creatures into Saprolings.
(3b) Destroy any number of Saprolings at will.
(4) Destroy all your opponent's creatures.
________________________________________________________________

(1) Since I can't think of anything that will Radiate an ability, the Kavu Recluse will have to untap a lot, and for free. Thornbite Staff really seems like the only option here. This, however, means we have to kill the creatures one by one. So, come destruction time, we can't use Plague Wind or Dread Cacodemon.

(2a) The only card that seems capable of single-handedly changing all your opponent's creatures types is Mirrorweave (in this case, it would target a Forest). Xenograft and Conspiracy only affect YOUR creatures, so they would need to be Donated.
(2b) Acid Rain seems to be the only mass-removal spell for Forests, and that'll wipe YOUR Forests and Saprolings, unless you use Terra Eternal.

As a whole, (2) seems to require 2+ cards. Therefore, (1) and (2) would take 3+ cards in addition to Kavu Recluse and Life and Limb.

(3a) Mirrorweave again.
(3b) Engineered Plague is the only thing that comes to mind, but that'll still wipe your side.

As a whole (3) also seems to require 2+ cards, and even then you will kill your own creatures without something like Gaea's Anthem. It's not going to work.

(4) Plague Wind and Dread Cacodemon have already been ruled out, so we don't have many options. Goblin Sharpshooter comes to mind for repeated slaying, but he isn't enough to kill your opponent's non-Saproling, non-Forest creatures, as they are not necessarily 1/1s. Basilisk Collar (among many other things) will allow the Sharpshooter to kill practically anything; Mirrorweave can turn all creatures into 1/1s, in which case Curse of Death's Hold would also be effective. Another option is to fall back on Thornbite Staff, equipping it to Visara the Dreadful.

Still, as a whole (4) seems to require 2 cards (the lattermost case requiring a second copy of Thornbite Staff), meaning we're still one card over the combo limit.

I'm just not seeing this happening. Why not just use Living Plane, Goblin Sharpshooter, and Basilisk Collar?

I made a deck based around this. A couple Mycoloth and a 4 set of Jade Mage for token generation. Along with a few spells and smaller creatures. A couple caged sun to buff up creatures and give more mana.

Then this and liege of the tangle to make all your tokens 8/8s.

Mix with utopia mycon and and faces of the past for lots of mana. I want to do this with rampagin baloths on the field, and use the mana to cast Supply.

(For those that don't get the faces combo, you tap all you sap-forrests for mana, sac one to utopia mycon, and use faces to untap the rest. rinse/repeat until you have sufficient mana)

Liege of the Tangle. Saproling/Forests become 8/8 Elementals. You're already risking your lands anyway. Might as well strike more fear into your opponent.

The threat of mass creature removal is obviously the biggest concern among people here, especially the cheap kind like Zealous Persecution, and Soul Suffers.

Really, the best way to survive that is to have a hybrid deck with other unaffected colors and non-green fetchlands like Terramorphic Expanse.

My deck is half green and half white/black. With this combination, I can consistently summon Ghave, Guru of Spores who can help stave off the cheap -1/-1 wipes by turning those Saprolings into to +1/+1 counters, buffing my other creatures up past the danger point.

This added versatility also makes it significantly easier to maneuver against fewer big creatures or more small creatures.

Of course if you guys are just getting hit with Wrath of God all the time, and don't want to do all that, just use Terra Eternal.

Primal Rage, Earth Surge, Any saproling generator, Dauntless Dourbark for a heavy hitter and Life and limb are amazing together splash some white for Tera External or keep it green and use timber protector... On the other hand though this card can really screw you... Elesh Norn, Massacre Worm, and Final Judgement just to name a few ...can really devastate a mono green deck with this card

I might be crazy, but would this turn nameless inversion into a permanent?
It doesn't say anything about saproling creatures in the first part of the sentence, so would it hit a tribal changeling spell?
adrian.malacoda
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
@Kyrthain

Unless it says "Saproling spells" or "Saproling cards" then it implicitly refers to Saproling permanents. There are no tribal changeling enchantments but if there were, those would be Saproling permanents and thus turn into forests.

This, Sporoloth Ancient, a Doubling Seasons, Concordant Crossroads, and Fungal Bloom = infinite creature and infinite mana

If you throw in elvish farmer or stream of life you get infinite life

If they kill all of them with a card like tremor, you can repeat it once you get response put infinite spore counters on sporoloth ancient and redo it after the tremor resolves

This is pretty neat with things like magical hack. Your lands can't get wiped, but your saps still tap for mana; off color mana at that. In a multi-color deck, you could use that to have your saps also be swamps, tapping for a powerful Tendrils of Corruption or Drain Life. Obviously works best in blue-green, but you can blue-green-black wedge it!

I sense a very strange combo deck.

The Johnny in me is tingling right now. One of my favorite combos is this + an army of Saprolings + Planar Cleansing. Plenty of infinites with Intruder Alarm as well.

Forces an infinite loop with a new card coming out in M14

http://mythicspoiler.com/m14/cards/sporemound.html

Just get yourself a sac outlet and you can end it and a you have infinite mana/creatures.

Combo it with Sporemound from the upcoming M14 set for infinite saproling forests!
Aquillion
★★★★★ (5.0/5.0) (2 votes)
The problem with combining it with Sporemound is that Sporemound isn't optional; using the two cards together puts you in an involuntary infinite loop and ends the game in a draw unless you can somehow break the loop or end the game at instant speed.

So this really creates an infinite loop with Sporemound?
Here at school we are kind of having a HUGE discussion about it, most people dont believe me. :(

Sorry for the late reply i only play the game recently =)

Say...

If this card, Prismatic Omen and Cabal Coffers are on the field, can Cabal Coffers still use its normal abilities or will it lose its normal abilities? Please inform me as soon as possible. Thanks. :3

Play Crucible of worlds on turn 3 and your fine. In response to ANY threat you can always float mana and play the appropriate spell to counter their lock down or removal. Cards already mentioned Golgari Germination, Terra Eternal and Sacred Ground are all essential if you plan to combo this card with something. Timber Protector is nice to have. Question is do you plan to attack or use them for mana? I like the idea of a giant Fireball or Profane Command.

Fun cards to include with this also include:
Greener pastures - for the excess land (you want to make sure you have more land!)
Vinelasher Kudzu - Self explanatory
Earth Surge - Buffs the lands

Removal is a poor excuse to say a card is bad. It's like me saying Force of Will prevents your board wipe or Split Second and "Can't be countered" abilities just means I get what I want. Get with it peoples.

turn 3: chromatic lantern, while you have 2 saprolings out
turn 4 : life and limb, intruder Alarm
turn 5: tap all your lands for 2 blue, 2 red, and 3 of whatever you want, play a forest to untap all your creatures/lands and cast dragonshift for 6 creatures that are 4/4 flyers that can attack.
