This card is a lot of fun to play but is very limited in decks you can actually use it in. Take that land D!

Play this with Strip Mines and your opponent will never have a land anymore. No wondr strip mine is restricted now.

The rules say you can only play land once per turn, this card reads "you may play land cards from your graveyard" not "you may put land cards from your graveyard into play". this card would be immensely overpowered if it were the latter however.

Aside from hosing land destruction and combos when able to play multiple lands in a turn (Fastbond, Oracle of Mul Daya, etc.), this is amazing with landfall and fetch lands. Would have been a power card in Standard if it had stayed in for M10 and still may be good in Extended.
This plus Lotus Cobra plus Terramorphic Expanse = 2 mana of any color and a new land (comes in tapped) every turn.
This plus a Rampaging Baloth and Terramorphic Expanse = 2 new 4/4's and a new land (tapped) every turn.
If you have the Baloth and the Cobra you get both. With fetch lands the new land comes in untapped at a cost of 1 life...maybe even better although it adds up if you're doing it every turn.

agreed, only thing keeping this card down is that it doesnt add a second land drop. really wish i had one
Limited? Add Fastbond, and Zuran Orb, and you have infinite life and Mana from 3 cards.
To the guy who said something about not being able to put multiple lands into play, read what Fastbond does. I've used this and that and Strip Mine to take out every land in play that wasn't mine in one shot.

Subsitute lotus cobra for strip mine infinate mana! susitute horn of greed for lotus cobra infinate cards! Susitute baloth woodcrasher for horn of greed infinate creature with trample!
This also negates Countryside Crusher's drawback. Which, you know. Is nice. Not as breaking as the infinite combos, of course, but there it is.
Also, lest we forget, this Johnny-gasm is brought to us by the community itself- it is the happy product of You Make the Card 2, back when Wizards trusted us with card design. I guess the fact that we kept making combo pieces (Forgotten Ancient was also one) sort of put them off the idea. Still, none of them every really got to see much play, so it's really a shame we don't get a few more cracks at it.

We designed it, we voted on it... I guess you can say we asked for it.
Probably the most combo-able card EVER besides Doubling season. Most cards that have land sacrifice in them can combo with this. 5/5 for combos if not raw power.
Here's hoping for a reprint in the next Mirrodin set. One of the most fun artifacts ever being reprinted in the successor set to the one that spawned it following up the land block? DO IT!

Didn't the players design this?
Anyway, this is a great card. It only costs 3, so not only can it be used like a combo with something like Devastating Summons, it can also be used backup against land destrucion decks.

claws of grix beats zuron orb because you can use it for a turn 1 kill. Claws, Crucible, fastbond, hedron crab, scorched ruin, and a forest and an island.

LMAO @ Fadingstar! 5/5 on your comment! I thought that scene looked familiar!
Pair this with Smokestack and Exploration and you can pretend you're Saruman, devouring the earth itself in your quest to industrialize.
I will be able to quote the flavor text of this card to anyone for the rest of my life.
It's enjoyably ironic that a card that has opened up an entirely new avenue for gameplay is a card that was developed through an entirely new avenue for card design.

Squandered Resources. So good. I forgot about this card for about a decade and re-discovered it about a month ago. Fantastic speed with Crucible and Azusa and/or oracle of mul-daya.
Your mostly right, but Searing Blaze wouldn't deal infinite damage just because you have infinite land fall triggers. It doesn't get more powerful from multiple land drops, it would still only deal 3 damage to it's targets.

Sure it's got an amazing Johnny aspect to it, but it'd also simply make a perfect side-deck for any deck in case you're going up against a mill deck.

I always thought this was four mana and seemed a step too slow for what you wanted to be doing. Now that I see it is three my mind is changed completely. Nuking lands every turn starting on turn two or three is insane. Suddenly this plus Mishra's Workshop and Strip Mine seems like one of the most oppressive things you can do in Vintage.

Even back when I was just beginning and first saw this card, I knew it had power...I still never truly understood its uses though.
Now, after years of playing, I see fully why this card is deserving of its rating and more. Playing it after an Armageddon or popping Ajani Vengeant in my boros weenie EDH can be a devastating push ahead for myself, has won me more games than I can recall, and that's just one use!
Use it to recur fetch lands, Evolving Wilds , Terramorphic Expanse, any land that requires sacing as a cost. I had a friend use it with two Flagstones of Trokair to pull out plains after plains onto the field and race ahead of me.
Marit Lage die after saccing Dark Depths ? Sure, there's other, more interesting ways to recur it that can bring back your Hexmage and your land, but the point is this can do it too!
How bout those Manlands? Want a guy who just won't stay dead? Well Now you've got one!
Truly, this is an amazing card; I love it to death and I'm sure even still that the surface hasn't even been scratched towards the knowing of its full potential.
Play the land thanks to Crucible. It will cost 1 life because of Fastbond.
Repeat.
Infinite tokens can happen if Rampaging Baloths are out. Infinite mana can happen if Lotus Cobra is out. Quick milling can happen if Hedron Crab is out. The same can occur with Scrib Nibblers. Did I say something about Searing Blaze dealing infinite damage? I TOTALLY DID NOT EDIT IT OUT BECAUSE I WAS AN IDIOT BEFORE!
Add anything with landfall to this combo, and you break the game.
The card art reminds me of the little biodomes on the world map in Phantasy Star II. Ron Spencer is a beautiful person.

Shame people don't play many basics in Modern. Ghost Quarter is very close to Strip Mine that it's scary.

Does a lot of very powerful things. Just with some fetchlands and you can hit a land-drop every turn. Can churn out some great combos without even trying to build around it. Its a 3 drop artifact that provides an effect which must be dealt with.

I play a land like they are in my hand? or if I can, play lands from my hand?..
or you may put a land in your graveyard into play?..
:S
for example
this + Terramorphic Expanse = all lands come into play tapped this turn? - (turn 3 for example)

Turn three primeval titan. Yes.
Crucible of Worlds
Azusa, Lost but Seeking
Walk the Aeons.
I belive this will buy you time to make a sandwhich.
Except....Curly, Wilt Chamberlain, Metalark, and Geis aren't around doing much signatures anymore. :/

Damn Strip Mine.
