This does NOT affect anything not in play yet. But anyway, it is awesome!
Why is this rated so low? You pop this thing out, then use Isochron Scepter and put a Disenchant on it and you get to destroy every card the opponent has in play! And what about Auratog ?

PUT DOWN THIS, THEN CAST TEMPEST OF LIGHTS.....!!!!!!
They need more seemingly arbitrary cards like this that just do weird things. I think the level of strategic thinking that would go on in this game would go through the roof.

Saw a couple of people mention opalesence and gust, remember that if it says all enchantments that means yours too, even if they have shroud because its not targetting. Primeval light and this card = win though. I have one in my deck, aura shards, and a token generator.
Certainly an interesting effect. Unfortunately supposed for mid-game, it would have been fun when used with Tranquility or one of thewhite versions otherwise.
Anyways, this card is still worth playing along with certain cards in the right deck: *Opalescence - turns every permanent into creatures with P/T equal to their CMC - normally an instant Armageddon and sends any lands played thereafter into the graveyard, too. You might even protect yours from this with Glorious Anthem or Gaea's Anthem. *Aura Thief - once he hits the graveyard you'll just grab everything on your opponent's side. *Greater Auramancy and Sterling Grove - a cheap Privileged Position with Enchanted Evening is on the field. Enchantresses: *Argothian, Verduan, Mesa Enchantress and Enchantress's Presence turns every spell you cast into a cantrip, card advantage at its best. *Femeref Enchantress will let you draw a card whenever a permanent is put into a graveyard, so consider playing her if you're going to use board sweepers (see the list below) for some awesome card advantage) *Yavimaya Enchantress will turn into a fatty that becomes a *+2/*+2 equal to the number of permanents on the battlefield. for board sweeping, try one of the following cards: *Primeval Light - for effective removal of your opponent's side. *Calming Verse - somewhat worse but untargeted, refrain from using while playing with a teammate. *Essence Filter - for a primarily white deck. *Cleansing Meditation - when working with threshold, also synergizes greatly with Aura Thief since it can trigger all cip/etb and "pig" effects on your side. *Fracturing Gust or Multani's Decree - costy removal, but with huge lifegain. *Harmonic Convergence - with accordant combos dealing with the top cards.

wait, this plus makes Opalescence means lands become enchantments, but they have no mana cost? does that make all lands 0/0s that die immediately?

This does not work with Sigil of the Empty Throne , as Enchanted Evening makes all permanents enchantments, while Sigil of the Empty Throne activates whenever an enchantment spell is cast. If the spell is not an enchantment naturally when it is cast, then it cannot be affected by Enchanted Evening, and when it comes into play, it is no longer a spell being cast, it is a permanent.
With regard to Opalescence, then yes, all lands will become 0/0 creatures and immediately die, unless somehow otherwise boosted with something like a Castle. This could easily wipe out all of your opponents lands for the rest of the game as well, so even if you do not have any way to protect your own creatures, if you have enough of an advantage on the battlefield, then this could be enough to win you the game.

@applecorn: This cannot be combined with Presence of the Master. Presence of the Master cares about enchantment spells, not permanents.

This is good for killing stuff since enchantment destruction is easy to come by and cheap (this plus Cleanfall, for example), but you need a pretty dedicated deck to do this effectively.

Wait, wouldn't this + Opalescence allow for Creature Planeswalkers? How would that work?
What happens when you use Scour and this? Does it mean you can also remove all lands?

Rebecca Guay does it again. The artwork definitely conveys the message, and the card is definitely one of those that insists that Johnnies find a way to break it. I approve.

I would like to see an official ruling that clarifies the interaction between this card, Opalescence, and Humility. Perhaps something like "any player who plays these cards together immediately loses the game for being a huge jerk and wasting everyone's time."

@GhelmaoftheSimic: Creature Planeswalkers would be essentially creatures with loyalty counters and loyalty abilities. They can attack and block, as well as activate one of their planeswalker abilities once each turn. They are sent to the graveyard if their toughness or their loyalty counters go below 1.
@ BlueCorona Not quite. You can remove every Island, OR every Mountain, but the cards you remove must have the same name.

There's so much mass enchantment hate out there, that this + Elspeth, Knight-Errant could be put into good use. She'll protect herself a lot better as a Planeswalker Enchantment as well.

This card is too narrow, but who wants to kill all lands for the rest of the game? Opalescence a lands cast is (0) so attack and defense are 0/0, therefore all lands die...
I run this in my Atogatog EDH deck. I use it with Phantatog, Barren Glory, and, of course, Atogatog to automatically win! Oh, what fun we have!
Some people seem to be confused about this card. This does not offer any combo potential with Zur, the Enchanter because it has no effect on cards in libraries. It also doesn't interact with Presence of the Master because it doesn't turn spells on the stack into enchantment spells. "Permanents" exist only on the battlefield.

@Chinkeekong: If it's also a creature, and your opponent attacks it cuz it's a walker, can you block with it? So it can block itself? That would be pretty awesome! It would probs just end up being like it didn't block except it would deal damage...but what about first strike? That would be crazy!!!

Probably the absolute best combo with this is Calming Verse. It destroys all of your opponent's permanents and leaves yours alone. Warning: This will NOT make you friends in a multiplayer game.

Personally I like Cleansing Meditation better than Calming Verse. I find it funny that Eternal Witness would just grab Cleansing Meditation back from the graveyard every time I cast it (w/ threshold). Also, it's like getting a free time walk.
then play Paraselene for a bunch of life and a nice "Destroy all permanents effect"

This got even more devastating with the demise of mana burn and the implications of that rule change for how Calming Verse can be played.
Just playing this in a multiplayer game will make it, and possibly you, an instant target.

@ Perikles actually enchanted evening does work with sigil of the empty throne. Because permanents are considered spells in the first place, and enchanted evening changes all your permanent types to enchantments in addition to what they were before, which includes permants in your library, so i can cast lets say hmm, mesa enchantress and sinces shes now an enchantment, when she resolves it will trigger sigil of the empty throne and u get an angel. playing this with hanna/giest of saint traft(2 free angels whenever i swing with geist) in my edh deck :)

Dear magic players: Don't go to random gatherer comments if you aren't sure about the rules. People often get it wrong!
What is the official ruling for this card regarding permanents NOT on the battlefield? The text on this card says ALL permanents, it doesn't say, ALL permanents in play, so if I'm going by what the card says Zur The Enchanter would be able to tutor anything out of my deck that costs less than 3, and Hannah, Ship's Navigator would be able to call any permanent back into my hand from my graveyard, correct?
This does not interact with cards or spells but only with permanents. Permanents exist only on the battlefield; spells exist only on the stack. A card exists in your hand, library, or graveyard, becomes a spell when you cast it, and then becomes a permanent if the spell resolves. Only after it has resolved does Enchanted Evening affect it. Since this does not turn all spells into enchantment spells, Sigil of the Empty Throne does not combo with Enchanted Evening. Since it does not turn all cards into enchantment cards, Zur the Enchanter and Hanna, Ship's Navigator do not combo with it either.
An example of something that does affect permanents, spells, and cards is Mycosynth Lattice. Note how the Lattice's first ability (that turns permanents into artifacts) only affects permanents and does not turn cards into artifact cards or spells into artifact spells (i.e. can't tinker for emrakul or anything). It does however turn all spells and cards colorless, so you could chuck a Shivan Meteor at Emrakul since the spell is colorless when it is cast. Mycosynth Lattice even has an official ruling on this: "Mycosynth Lattice turns all permanents on the battlefield into artifacts. Spells on the stack and cards in other zones aren't permanents, so those spells and cards don't become artifacts" and since this card's effect is exactly the same as Lattice's first effect except with "enchantment" instead of "artifact" it would also apply here

Opalescence + Enchanted Evening turns all permanents into creatures with P/T equal to their casting cost... and then destroys all lands, because they're 0/0. And continues to destroy any new lands that enter play, forever. 0cc artifact mana dies, too. For extra fun, combine with Parapet or Layline of Vitality so you can save your lands.
Or, if you want a really boring game, throw in Humility, so every permanent becomes a 1/1 creature with no abilities (in all likeliness, only lands can be played going forward, so the game will eventually end, just very very slowly.)

Casting Paraselene the next turn seems somewhat amusing. Everything dies, and you even get some life on the side.
Mostly an enchantment variant of Mycosynth Lattice, but costs less. Maybe that one mana is the difference for the epic color draining of the Lattice... Still, epic card this is! So many cruel combos...

Four of these, and the rest of the deck builds itself. Tons of stuff interacts nicely with enchantments. It's nearly as silly as artifacts. (And not as fragile if your opponent lets you get the shields up.) Sift through your WUG. Take Fountain watch and Sterling Grove for protection, a couple of Aura Gnarlids and stuff with trample for muscle and (whatever) enchantresses as enchantment support. Maybe have Ancestral Mask, Ethereal Armor and other static pump spells you like for adding a little beef. Don't go too crazy with Calming Verse, Opalescence, etc. Abusive hijinx stops being funny really quickly... Except for Aura Thief, who has to work super hard to get killed when Enchanted Evening is out. "Hurricane for two. Come to Daddy." That stays funny forever. 5/5
