This is a card that can change a deck very dramatically. I have a green/blue deck that I play centering around Waiting in the Weeds. Thus, I'm creating oodles of Forest tokens, sometimes having as many as 4 or 5 coming in each turn. When I first played Baru in this deck I though he'd be decent, but not incredible. Very easily he allowed me to swing with 25 points of trampling damage with 2 creatures to end the game. It is simple to use him effectively, yet you can still do some absolutely hysterical things with him.
I remember in the webcomic UG Madness Baru was the name of Kamahl's son. I wonder if this guy is him....

I want cards to look like this again. It's just so awesome.

I use this card combo with Life and Limb. This combo allow my token deck to have 5 6/6 tokens with trample on the field in about five turns :P If I throw in a doubling season, my deck becomes even more of a cheating deck than sliver decks lol. The only drawback however being now my lands have summoning sickness, so I gota wait a turn to tap it, but a small price to pay to get this babe rolling.
The question for me is... When are you able to discard? Is it possible to discard during your upkeep phase? If so the card combo with Genesis would be sick! Any input on this would be excellent!

Harrow would work really well with this guy too. Also, if you're using Life and Limb you can't forget Saproling symbiosis

If you're new to EDH; this guy is glorious. Simple, yet elegant.

Proto-landfall guy. It'd be great if he came back to standard.

Ohai there Bantfall deck, I heard you can drop lands infinitely with Lotus CobraRuin Ghost and Tideforce Elemental? Okai then, I will make your creatures all 1000/1000's so we can roflstomp some nubs.

This card gets very, very annoying in monogreen deck. Very quickly. I know.

@Rigorousbean normally, you can only discard at the end of your turn if you have more than seven cards in hand, but with you can discard for this card's effect whenever you need, since it says "discard a baru fist of krosa: put a...", if it said "when you discard baru, fist of krosa..." you would need another way to discard it to use it's effect.
The question for me is... When are you able to discard? Is it possible to discard during your upkeep phase? If so the card combo with Genesis would be sick! Any input on this would be excellent! Posted By: Rigorousbean
You can, but it won't work the way you want it. Just discard Baru at the beggining of your opponents End Step. That way it will be in the 'yard for Genesis when you want it without all the icky rules getting in the way.

I heard he really likes Paleoloth. Infinite wurm tokens at instant speed as long as you control 5 or more lands, anyone?

I see grandeur being a future mechanic when we return to Kamigawa.

This guy is absolutely amazing in EDH. Sure he doesn't impact the field as soon as you cast him, but hey that's fine. Ramp up with a few ETB effects or simply dropping lands fast enough and he'll be rolling fast enough. Never under-estimate the value of the Landfall ability as it were, it was early days and trust me from my own experience, it has paid off!

Freaking great card here. Good commander, good in a regular deck for the big token... Hell, if you go by regular drops, you can get a 5/5 worm token for a discard. Combine with Genesisfor worm tokens every turn.

This guy really loves Gilt-Leaf Archdruid . Firstly, he's a druid. But once you start taking lands, you can put a massive Wurm into play.

My friend made me make an EDH deck with this. EDH. That was quikly the worst deck I had ever made.

Today, I went downtown to my local game store, Get Your Game On and finished my Arcanis the Omnipotent EDH deck. Having done some previous tests with it, I knew it was pretty decent, seeing as it had a 4-0 win ratio.
So I ran into a an acquaintance who happened to have a few EDH decks on him, and got a 1v1 game going. He had this guy as his general, and I arrogantly assumed I'd have no problem winning, as he couldn't even use the Grandeur ability, and his Baru's triggered ability didn't look so scary.
I arrogantly assumed wrong.
I had stalled him out quite a bit, and overall was fairly confident in my ability to control the game, because up until that point, (turn 7 or do) he only managed to do 5 damage against me, not very much for an aggressive build. He had 4 or 5 small creatures and this guy out, but nothing too extreme. Of course, that changed awfully quickly when he cast Boundless Realms, tutoring for about 11 forests, and proceeded to swing for about 50+ damage. It hurt very badly.

A must for wurm decks. He makes wurms at instant speed, gives some of them trample (the smaller/cheaper ones) and.. is really cool
.. just like wurms?
EDIT: You can still use his ability in EDH if he's not a commander. Cemetery Puca, sac him, copy him, granduer whenever you get him back to your hand (easy to do with your black!) There are others who can do something similar; but this seems the easiest way.

And thanks for that Scapeshift-idea. Just what my Baru-deck needed!
