I didn't expect this art to be so perfect! Always a major threat, and easily combos with any source of deathtouch.

Sniper mallet... so much awesome. I'd give it at least a four even if it wasn't one of the best goblins ever reprinted.

What's the scope lens for? Making sure the mallet hits *exactly* the right part of the skull?

Original art: A 'sharpshooter' with a wooden, seemingly terribly unprecise gun. New art: A 'sharpshooter' that kills its targets from 0.2 meters distance with a crazy awesome steampunk sniping mallet contraption. To top it off, it wears a bandana with a cross hair icon. Feature shared on arts: Sharpshooting methodology type: Goblin.

Also, what's the scope lense for in the first place if he squints the eye that's supposed to look through the scope? And why would he need a second scope just adjacent to the first one? Many questions only skilled Goblin Artificers might answer.

I am not impressed with this art, and I feel like I'm the only one who loved the original Sharpshooter that is ALSO not feeling it with this one. :/
I get the need for Goblins to be ridiculous. Really! But this one feels like a 4th-wall-breaking LOONEY TUNE, and I guess what I liked about the other Stupid Crazy Goblins is that they just looked like they were dumb creatures interacting with a realistic world.
This card looks exactly like all laws of nature and logic just don't apply to anything in his vicinity, and It makes it feel at home in a Yu-Gi-Oh! deck, a Yu-Gi-Oh! GX deck, a Pokémon Deck, or a Scooby-Doo Deck all at the same time....and it doesn't feel quite nearly as much at home in a Deck that's from a more humorous, low-level DnD adventure that tries to play almost everything straight. :/
If they'd showed a machine gunner that was cackling madly while he was spraying bullets everywhere except his target, the epitome of the OPPOSITE of a sharpshooter, it would have been funny, AND felt like 'just sort of almost-real enough'. I guess my sense of humour is different from RnD's. :P
another advantage of my art suggestion: it looks like can actually deal lots of damage quickly in 1-point "pings". but this one looks more like it can only deal it's 1 damage pretty slowly.
this art would be great in an Un-set, DEFINITELY- it feels exactly appropriate for that: A MAGIC-feeling card that's also pretty heavily parodic. There's a fine line between "Un", and "Goblin". I think the best rule is to ask of every Goblin-- "could you see an Orc doing this too?" and if not, it's maybe a little more Un than it should be.

Actually, this weapon was originally in Hot Shots Part Deux way back in 1993, along with some other amusing-yet-impractical options. But that's beside the point, which is: YAY! Sharpshooter in new frame with hilarious new art!
See who remembers that you've got this little guy sitting there.

The old art always reminded me of a crude gattlinggun. Give this little guy deathtouch and he mows the enemy forces down like it's 1917. Plus it was illustrated by Greg Staples, one of my favourite Magic Illustrators, so I kinda wish they kept the old art with the new border.
That said, the new art is hilariously absurd, perfectly logical in goblin craftsmanship and is illustrated by Wayne Reynolds, another one of my favourite Magic Illustrators, whom I especially love his technique and concepts when illustrating goblins. 5/5

the crosshair's for zooming in on the lice on that guy's head. You wouldn't use a weapon like that to attack a person. The second scope is just there because goblins are creative but not very practical (see lice removal).

I actually love this art.
The sheer idea of a goblin infiltrating a facility and bonking people on the head with a SCOPE MALLET, sneaking around solid snake style, is amazing.

Can't help but chuckle ever time I see this art. Wayne Reynolds really is the best when it comes to goblins.
( This untaps when another creature dies. Splinter Twin makes it so you can the creature you enchant and put a token that is a copy of it on the battlefield that gets exiled at the next end step, and Goblin Bombardment lets you sacrifice a creature to deal 1 damage to target creature or player. Enchant Goblin Sharpshooter with Splinter Twin. Tap it, get the token, sac with Goblin Bombardment, untap Goblin Sharpshooter, rinse and repeat. :D :D :D )

Deathtouch is the perfect partner, and it makes fine combos in casual decks, such as using Goblin Sledder/Mogg Raider to buff the Sharpshooter, while getting rid of the opponents creatures. It's not too powerful on its own, but with Deathtouch it turns into a powerhouse.
