I love using this card with Moonglove Changeling. Turns into 2B: Destroy target creature. Such a fun combo.

Unfortunately this one is the worst one from the tribal equipment cycle, yet it can still find use.
It's a pity the activation cost wasn't reduced to 1, then it would be pretty crazy.

Well, but it still provides Goblin Sharpshooter's untap trigger.
So all we have to do is finding a Shaman creature that can shoot without using mana.
Lightning Crafter is the excellent choice for this. With him it's similar to having three Sharpshooters outside!
Like this your opponent will only have his fatties left, and given that you can afford other losses on your side you can even char these.

Valleymaker can do the same amount of damage as the Crafter, but costs two more and a mountain each time, so it's by far not that useful with this guy.

Vulshok Sorcerer and Vithian Stinger can also do this job.
Use Frostwielder if you don't want them to hit the graveyard.
This card can also help flipping Initate of Blood, which will also do a good job then since Goka the Unjust can give most creatures a Fatal Blow.

Spikeshot Goblin still needs mana, but can also work if you bring some buffs. Although you should rather look for synergy cards then, since a three card combo isn't worth trying in general.

Creatures with deathtouch will also do a great job with this card, although there aren't any Shaman deathtouchers available yet, except for Moonglove Changeling, as Ratinyourwallsvailable mentioned. 2Black to destroy the first creature each turn and 2 for each further creature is also quite enjoyable.
Gorgon Flail could also find use given that you have a bunch of shooting Shamans in your deck anyways which can also make use of it.

You can also give this staff to Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker for infinite creature sacrifice supply. By copying Orcish Bloodpainter or Tar Pitcher you could kill you opponent for example.

The equip cost is regrettably rediculously high, therefore i'd generally not use it with non-Shamans. Unless you really want to play it with Terminators like Avatar of Woe or Visara the Dreadful...

@Mode: On Frostwielder, this does absolutely nothing. Since it doesn't hit the graveyard, it doesn't untap it. Other than that, though, good stuff.

I think it makes a nice combo with Wojek Embermage, although you do actually have to pay the equip cost (and it relies on your opponent using a color you're not). Still, though...

Anybody else notice that this thing matches the staff from Raiders of the Lost Ark? The sunbeam is passing through the crystal and everything, lol.

Obviously a cool artifact, with some fun combo potential.

As I read it, it's **way** overpowered. Attach this to a creature with deathtouch. On your turn, tap, inflict one damage - killing that creature, untap, tap again, destroy another creature, etc. Each turn, this card destroys all of your oponents creatures and then lets you attack unblocked.

This card was practically MADE for Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker. So many infinite combos.

Any creature that deals free damage (Mudbutton Torchrunner, Triskelion, etc.) and a sac outlet: infinite damage.
Any creature that gives at least two free mana (Palladium Myr, Workhorse) and a sac outlet: infinite mana.
A creature token generator (Myr Battlesphere, Siege-Gang Commander) and a sac outlet: infinite creatures.
Any free land-destruction creature (Goblin Settler, Avalanche Riders) and a sac outlet: destroy all your opponent's lands.
Ashnod's Altar/Phyrexian Altar and a creature: infinite mana.
Thermopod: infinite red mana.
Mogg Fanatic: infinite damage.
Goblin Bombardment and a creature: infinite damage.
Solemn Simulacrum and a sac outlet: infinite card draw/ land searching

Heck, it even attaches for free because Kiki-Jiki is a shaman! Just watch out: after a few EDH games, playing this card will make you a marked man.

This, a creature with Deathtouch, and Viridian Longbow = Murder everything you don't like. Sounds good to me.

I can't think of a better card than Vampire Nighthawkfor this equipment. As if they weren't good enough individually. Deathtouch and direct damage is always sick. Vampire Nighthawk is also a Shaman, which makes all the difference. Destroy any creature for 2. These cards were made for each other.

Since it's the creature dealing the damage, why not attach it to Vampire Nighthawk.
Deathtouch - Any amount of damage from this creature is enough to kill it.
Untap.
Do it again!

Complaining about the activation cost is sort of missing the point, I think. The primary purpose of this card is the untap trigger, not the pinging-- You can get some insane combos that way.

Try running with Basilisk Collar and Cunning Sparkmage.
It rarely disappoints. Just make sure you back it up with some Lighning Elementals or something to get in that damage to the dome.

This + Glissa, the Traitor + Lifespark Spellbomb

Glissa gets the following abilities:
2: Destroy target creature.
3Green: Destroy target land.

Notice the lack of Taps in those. Ridiculously unfair in EDH.

Making a Brion Stoutarm edh. Guess what just sky-rocketed to #1 for on the "thing to tutor for" list?????????????

Expensive when used just for pinging, but outrageously combo-rific and tons of fun.
Put it on Ashling the Pilgrim. Suddenly she gets pseudo-vigilance if you make her big enough.

I like this in my Brion Stoutarm EDH, but i don't use it on him.

Bloodshot Cyclops and Insurrection.
Sure, if you get an insurrection off in EDH, it will probably be lethal, but it fits the flavor of the deck so much more for the creatures to be thrown back to their owners rather than walking back.

Was looking around through Gatherer for a way to give Krenko, Mob Boss extra taps in my EDH deck. Wasn't expecting something this brutally effective. Throw in a Skirk Prospector or Goblin Bombardment and go infinite.

Oh, you people with your quaint little "deathtouch + pinger" and "T: Destroy target creature" combos. You guys have no imagination.

Here's how you make a REAL Thornbite Staff combo:

Hell's Caretaker + Any creature with an ETB or LTB effect + Any other creature. I suggest Angel of Despair.

Creature that taps to create a token + a sac outlet. Good options include
Kazandu Tuskcaller (Shaman type!), Master of the Wild Hunt (same), Thraben Doomsayer (Mana-efficient!) Bloodline Keeper (Pretty damn good on its own), and Krenko, Mob Boss (Goblin tribal! Tons of options!).

Ghave, Guru of Spores + a creature with a tap ability. You can now pay 2 mana to untap that creature. I suggest Elvish Abberation, though the Archdruid and Bloom Tender can work too.

Kamahl, Fist of Krosa. Infinite Ice Storms.

I could go on, but I have a deck to build.
