Hadi Kasten's still at it. Cloud Elementals and whatnot won't classify themselves.

Infinite combo, I believe, with Life and Limb, causing a draw unless you have a way to get rid of this once you have enough Saprolings.

I guess they don't want to call it Landfall in a core set?

The life and limb combo is neat. This guy is... Well... Without help, you play a land about once every three turns. So would you play a 3/3 guy for five, that gives you one token every three turns? Probably not. Which means that outside certain combo or ramp decks, this guy is not that good. Playable in limited, turning your late game land draws into something somewhat useful.

correct me if I'm wrong. But can't you just end the phase if you have this and life and limb out at the same time and a land enters when you feel you have enough creatures? Even if you can, its still an extremely sloppy design for today's day and age.

Very slow. Sort of cool, but it needs...more.

You cannot end the loop. The actions of this card are mandatory. You MUST put a 1/1 saproling into play, and since that saproling is also a land, it triggers this thing's ability again. Then you must do it again. And again. And again.

There's a similar case where if there are 3 oblivion rings, and no other nonland permanents in the game, the game gets 'stuck'. The second oblivion ring exiles the first, and then the third oblivion ring exiles that, which returns the first one, which exiles the third one, which returns the second one, which exiles the first one, and now you are at the start again. It is not optional, so the game is just stuck and results in a draw.

However, with all that said, it is not beneficial to end games in draws, unless you are losing pretty badly. Both of these scenarios won't come up often because the cards required, and conditions required are a little silly.

You would need a Sundial of the Infinite to end a Life and Limb scenario. Once a Saproling-Forest hits the battlefield, this ability is put on the stack, you can thereafter tap whatever you want to pay the activation cost of Sundial and that is put on top of the stack. Sundial resolves first and now you don't have to draw.

That, or you Naturalize Limb and Limb.

That flavor text made me lol at the prerelease.

Not bad if you want to do some Green Black sac engine stuff. Maybe it can give you a reason to dust off the 900 Terramorphic Expanse cards you own for added landfall abilities.

I'm shocked this is a common. They could have made this a rare or uncommon if they wanted to. Boundless Realms anyone?

Actually, you can end the loop, if you get rid of either this or Life and Limb before the next trigger occurs. I believe they published an article about it.

This card is a common, and is pretty bleh on it's own. But in a Green deck with manaramp this card quickly becomes dangerous if left alone. In green it can be cast as quick as turn 3, combo it with a master biomancer, Ivy lane denizen, paralel lives, or any global +x/+x effects and it becomes dangerous.

It works fantastic with the Renegade krasis + master biomancer combo. every token will be stronger than the last.

It's not a phenominal stand alone card, but it gets a 4/5 from me for being a common with a fun mechanic

It was one "May" clause away from being unbreakable. Or at the very least difficult to break.

Could you use Ghave, Guru of Spores as a sacrifice outlet to end the loop between this and Life and Limb ?

Really surprised this wasn't an uncommon. A great tool to make the most of limited's shaky card pool, and a decently sized body to boot.

@Babyjenks, Yes, while one instance of Sporemound's ability is on the stack, you can sac it to any number of abilities, including Ghave's. The sac happens, you get your effect, and then you get your last little spore monster.
