Bad. Requires 3 creatures AND morbid and is under the curve himself.

Amazing in the right deck, which is easily a token deck. Easy to kill off your creatures and with extra tokens to toss around, you can easily activate this each turn. A Ghave, Guru of Spores EDH/Commander for example. An easy 5/5 each turn. So awesome.

Bus dude: 2 creatures and a well-timed removal spell on one of your opponent's creatures. Morbid triggers don't care who owns the deceased creature(s).

Potential 5/5 demon on turn 3 if you can generate the mana.

in the prerelease I managed to get 3 demons out with him...at the same time. and at the very least, he's a norwood ranger that draws removal.

I would not play it in constructed, but in limited it can take control of the game, especially with vigilance creatures, and multiple Village Bell-Ringers.

Could use stitchers apprentice to sacrifice it's own token right after making it to activate morbid. Then the ability becomes pay two and tap get 5/5 demon.

I want to put this with an intruder alarm. This, two creatures and an intruder alarm = Splinter Twin swarming.

He reminds me a bit of a black interpretation of Tradewind Rider.

Sure, having two further creatures available to tap in a turn a forth one died is a really tough requirement.
But man, this guy is a splashable 1/2 two-drop that can create flying 5/5s. That is pretty freaking awesome.

Just play him with the right cards.
There are many cards that can create you multiple tokens for little mana, especially in white:
Raise the Alarm, Spectral Procession, Timely Reinforcements, Master's Call, Midnight Haunting, or Waylay for example.

And getting the morbid trigger also isn't too hard with a sac outlet -
or any creature that can sac itself for something good.
Eldrazi spawns do a great job since they are tokens with an inherent saccing option for mana accel.
Emrakul's Hatcher, Dread Drone or Kozilek's Predator can all single-handedly help the High Priest summon his demon. (Probably even a second time on the next turn.)
Promise of Bunrei and Teysa, Orzhov Scion or Sprouting Thrinax also seem interesting.

Or simply Go for the Throat of one of your opponent's creatures (or Corpsehatch it).

Or if you have an artifact creature, simply Kuldotha Rebirth that one to get your Demon token (and three Goblins). Dragon Fodder, Mogg Alarm, Siege-Gang Commander, Warren Weirding, Weirding Shaman or Sengir Autocrat also seem like a nice choice (and the latter could even keep your deck monocolored).

Parallel Lives + a sacrifice outlet + this = guaranteed tokens.

Birthing Pod. This is such a good card against Birthing Pod. You have no fricking idea.

I drafted this guy alongside Stitcher's Apprentice and made a couple demons in a draft. I got 2nd place. The first place guy had 3 Mikaeus, the Lunarch.

Hmm let's see. I own three mayors, two bloodline keepers, four jade mages, and crap loads of removal. This is in my deck. Morbid is very easy to trigger, one game I had three life versus 19 and I had a mayor, two wolves and this guy. The rest of the game went, doom blade tap demon go, go for tap demon attack with demon go. And I won. Black and green tokens. Try it today

I'm trying to create an FNM competitive deck centered around this, Reassembling Skeletons and Disciple of Griselbrand. Pay 1 to sac the skeletons, gain 1 life, tap Disciple plus one, demon, recast Skeletons, repeat.

Question: can one of the creatures I tap be the creature I sac?

Debating whether to include this little mini engine with green to take advantage of Parallel Lives and other token creators, or red to take advantage of Rage Thrower and Skirsdag Cultist and Perilous Myr.

was at a draft, got pulled Parallel lives from my first pack and then got passed two of these in the next two packs i saw, i figured well he looks alright, so i snatched them both up thinking it was at least a blocker early game, kept getting passed good removal and as the picks kept going i people kept passing me exceptional cards for green black, first game went turn five got a 2nd demon form this guy and my opponent scooped, second game was just as brutal turn 3 had him out and a couple smaller creatures, i blocked and buffed him up so he wouldn't die and then got a 5/5 demon, turn 4 prey upon using the demon to kill off 1/1 spirit and get another 5/5 demon, then my opponent scooped again.
so basicly, at first glance he doesn't look like he will change a game but once he activates they have to answer him or block the demon (which usually gets you another demon) i have to say its alot more powerful than people think at first glance

This sick puppy goes right into my Horrible Demons and Angels deck. Two Fallen Angels, two Liege of the Pits, Dread Return and other graveyard fun will make this card disgusting.

Also kickass in a Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker EDH. Since a Shirei EDH is sacrificing all their little dudes during each turn anyways, a creature dying is virtually guaranteed, and tapping two of them before sending them off to visit the netherworld for the turn generally has no cost to your plans. And since he is only one power, he gets bonus protection while Shirei is prancing about, and he can be sac'd for whatever other nonsense you are planing with other combos in the deck, with you still getting him back at the end of turn... Just make sure to utilize his own ability first, because he will have summoning sickness when he comes back (or I suppose toss in Thousand-Year Elixir to make this guy into some kind of super amazing verdant force that summons 5/5 flying demon saprolings every turn).

Overall awesome, awesome card that works beautifully in a ton of different combos/decks, and ain't too shabby just by himself.

I really like the synergy between this, Doomed Traveler, and Altar's Reap. Flavorful, cheap, and powerful. Also usable with any of the white token generators and a Divine Reckoning.

Turn 1: Swamp - Fume Spitter
Turn 2: Swamp - Skirsdag High Priest
Turn 3: Swamp (optional) - 2 Fume Spitters - Sacrifice 1 Fume Spitter and therefore activate morbid, Tap the remaining 3 creatures and get a demon token.

This guy enables the black weenie deck like nothing else. Carrion Feeder is a good sac outlet also add him a marrow gnawer/ rat deck and your opponent is backed into a corner. The Marrow-Gnawer synergy is actually quite frightening as well as resisting both blockers with fear and some removal because it's black (Snuff Out etc are useless.). Provided you have got the right mana accel (Lake of the dead, Cabal Coffers, Culling The Week) he's sure to be a valuable combo piece.

I've got a few questions regarding the priest. Can his activated ability be used during an opponents turn as in after combat when a creature has died.

The next question comes from a game I played online and I'm just confirming this for the future. I had an opponent use a Mimic Vat to clone my priest on my end step. He then brought in another at the beginning of his turn. He had two priests and a myr at that point. He killed one of my creatures with a spell and activated the priests abilities to spin two demons. I've been working under the assumption that if I had two priests that I would have to have have four untapped creatures + the priests + morbid to spin out two demons. Can the priests count each other as untapped creatures and tap for the ability, also can each priest use the myr as the second creature? I might have missed some tokens or something and that was my first ever online game, but that was what I thought I saw happen.

This card in combination with a well-planned Ravenous Demon and enough fuel can be ridiculous to keep spawning demons to throw at the enemy.

i got laughed at on the innisrad launch day for buying a playset of these (for 25 cents each no less) and now that they are showing up in top 8 decks people all of a sudden knew they are awesome all along lol.

B/W tokens is crazy with this thing.
with this guy, a chump blocker, and 6 mana i can drop 2 5/5 demons on YOUR turn. block with my chump, drop a midnight haunting, tap highpriest and two spirits for the demon, drop a village bellringer and retap highpriest and the two spirits for demon number two.

its a nasty surprise for someone who thinks they just attacked into an almost empty field lol.

I've been trying to put together a deck built around this guy using Black/Red. I can't believe no one has mentioned Kathari Bomber!!! It is almost as if the two were perfectly made for each other. I can't think of a card with better synergy: swing for 2 damage, sac kathari bomber, get two goblin tokens tap both and get a 5/5 flying Demon. The only thing I don't know is if morbid would still activate if Kathari Bomber was unearthed and sacrificed. I think I'll run 4 of this and 4 of Kathari Bomber and see what happens.

So what if you have three of these? Would you be able to use the cost of taping another creature with itself?

I would love to start a game with Fume Spitter, followed by this on turn 2, sac the Fume Spitter, cast Wakedancer, then activate this on turn 3.

This + Gravecrawler + Carrion Feeder. Sac the crawler, recast it, tap all three for 5/5 flying demon. Wash, rinse, repeat next turn.

@ Hall,
1) Yes, since it's a normal activated ability and the text doesn't list any restrictions ( like "Play this only when you could play a sorcery,") it can be used at instant speed.

2) In that instance, no that doesn't appear legal. Tapping the two creatures is part of the ability cost, not the effect, and has to be paid before the ability can even be put on the stack. If you have multiple priests, their abilities still have to resolve one at a time. If you go to activate one and then respond to that by using the other priest to tap the first, that will cause the first priest to tap before his ability can even be triggered.

That being said, only the priest has to be able to tap on his own. You can tap creatures with summoning sickness as part of his cost. With that in mind, if you have multiple priests out, only the first trigger requires two existing creatures out. If that resolves, you now have a 5/5 demon that can be tapped as part of a second priest's ability.

EDIT: Dumb me, yes the Reassembling Skeleton comes in tapped. My bad.

I use him in a human sacrifice deck and he's actually really really good. Play him along side gather the townsfolk, doomed traveler, avacyn's collar, and anything else you can find that rewards you for killing it. Then just have something to sac creatures to and you'll be good. In one turn I once sacrificed a doomed traveler with three avacyn's collars attatched to him to a bone splinters, killed my opponents win condition, got four spirits, and then activated this guy for a 5/5 flying demon.

Nice ability, white black humans does seem quite nice. Disciple of Bolas is adding another spicy chick to this mix. Top end with some beefy token demons.

I dig this card!
Unfortunately, I'm having a tough time to fulfill the conditions.
I mean sacrificing a creature, check.
But to still have him + 2 other guys to use his ability is not easy for me to do.
Because with my play group the combat zone is...often utilized lol and so are spot removal cards.

Oh well, one day I'll make it work.

This card is downright scary in the right deck. My G/B deck uses this to great acclaim, and I often can pull out a 5/5 demon by turn 4. My friends have wizened up of course, so they often try to deal with him as quickly as possible. If they can't, they're swimming in demons.

@Dabok Try using Thatcher Revolt. Originally, I made a deck that focused on using cards like that along with stuff like Bloodflow Connoisseur. You may want to do something along those lines, using vampires (Falkenrath Aristocrat if you have the 20 bucks a pop to spend on them) as they are a very efficient way of sacrificing creatures and making things happen. Want more fun? Use a couple Blood Artists

Quite possibly one of the most overpowered cards for black. when paired with a Reaper of the Abyss and some kind of sac ability, you're almost guaranteed a win. What I've come to find is that he's one of the best magnets for removal out there. If you can get your morbid going and bury your opponent in 5/5 demons, great. If he gets 'bolted then your opponent just wasted a kill spell on a 2 cost creature (which you should be able to reanimate later anyway).
I try to look at most creatures that way. If you know your facing a player with lots of removal in their deck, best have them waste it on cheap, dangerous creatures so your Griselbrand doesn't get murdered the turn he comes out.

There's a cookie cutter monoblack deck doing the roungs on MTGO just now, using this. It's comboed with slitherhead to provide cheap early kill fodder, gravecrawler for the same, Geralf's Messenger for some more sacrificeable stuff, and bloodflow conoisseur to do the sacrificing.

I'm pretty sure kids are copying this deck off a website somewhere, because i've seen the exact same thing, down to every last card, at least 10 times. It's pretty powerful. Stopping a demon from coming out is just so hard.

the condition to bring it out is really easy to fill, opinions to the contrary are unjustified imo.

Quite good. in my {B}{W} cleric deck he puts a lot of pressure on people. Clerics have the tendency to gain a lot of health and be large enough to block. Being able to turn removal into 5/5 flyers is handy. The deck won't be winning the game before turn 6, or hell, even turn 8 a lot of the time, but damned if it'll lose very often ;).

With that, I'll mention that he's spectacular in multiplayer. After 3-4 player turns, someone's bound to sac, attack, or some such; and you tap for a quick 5/5 beater/blocker; if you're lucky, you do that on t3.

This thing will usually demand removal in the right deck.

I use it in a sacrifice one, where Cartel Aristocrat can help him summon, and if times get desperate, you can sacrifice the demon (maybe because of a Pacifism or something) to get a new one, or fuel even more shenanagins.

Gets you T3 5/5 fliers.

I bet he'd actually be a fairly sweet condition in a heaver black wall deck using Doran, Siege Tower
I mean youve got the things you need to tap, and can kill with either your walls dealing damage to things via Doran's tricks or Black/green death/
Yeah...I might have to try that.
