...Do you get the feeling the Orzhov have developed a REALLY low opinion of the Simic of late?

Pretty sure it's just a mistake on the artist's part. This art is way too epic for such a boring card though.

Hmm...when I first saw this card, I wasn't that impressed with it. I immediately thought of Bloodthrone Vampire and asked myself why would I choose this over the latter? I think that the main difference is that this is much harder to get rid of. It's not that great, but you can still build around it and give it some auras (that are normally unreliable, but with this, they can be in a pretty safe position). ....Or be cheap and go with hexproof creatures :D

That flavor text is fantastic. Perfectly white-black.
Card is nice, too.

This card is such a good sacrifice outlet, and can eat up Orzhovs many spirit tokens and Doomed Travelers to get in there for unblockable damage. May just be the card Exalted was looking for in standard. An the art is just fantastic!
Although people should be wary of putting Auras on her. If she has to give herself protection of a color that matches the color of an aura on her, the aura will fall off. Shame, would really love to put Gift of Orzhova on her.

A great way to ensure you have one surviving creature after a board sweep.

I saw the art for this previewed at some site somewhere and was blown away. I was insanely excited to see what awesome ability they were gonna give to the amazingly beautiful woman in the picture. Then they gave her a very meh ability. Lorendorky has it right. Though I will do everything in my power to make her work with my Teysa, Orzhov Scion edh deck. And another sacrifice engine is never a bad thing and she has the same creature types as Teysa. Come back to us in Dragon's Maze Teysa.
....wait. Though to be fair, I am comparing an uncommon to a mythic. It's just really hard to not make that comparison.

Sacrifice outlet and a great exalted and cipher trigger card. May not be huge in standard, but still definitely useful.

Actually, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if, after the destruction of the entire Simic Combine last block, the Orzhov have not yet gotten around to reopening the Guild's old accounts. Speaker Zegana may have to spend all the cards she draws just to get through the paperwork of accessing the old Guild funds....if she's even legally entitled to them. Why do you assume that would be the case, when the Ravnican Legal Code has not had any need in millenia to provide any clauses defining Merfolk as people? They are quite legally Mythological.
Oh, ORZHOV, you ARE the Devious Legalistic bunch of CROOKS! XD THAT'S how you take down your opponents. :P
Freeze their accounts and show that, legally, their population is mostly made up of non-person non-citizens. :P

I Johnnied the crap out of this card in tonights FNM.
Opponent has a blue creature and a white/black creature.
Step 1: Sac Mortus Strider for Cartel Aristocrat's ability's cost. Step 2: It bounces back to hand. Step 3: Give it pro-blue. Step 4: Re-cast Mortus Strider. Step 5: Sac it again. Step 6: See Step 2. Step 7: Pro-white. Step 8: Swing 2 unblockable.
Things got really serious when I got an extorter out on the field.
Step 1: Sac Mortus Strider. Step 2: It bounces to hand. Step 3: Give it pro-(don't really care!) Step 4: Re-cast Mortus Strider. Step 5: Extort. Repeat until tapped out. Swing for 2 unblockable.
And finally:
Opponent swings with a lifelinker.
Step 1: Block with Cartel Aristocrat. Step 2: Sac Mortus Strider. Step 3: Give it pro-(color of lifelinker). Step 4: You get no life from lifelink!

Teams up well with Blood Artist and Falkenrath Aristocrat to create a giant sacrifice engine good enough to take down a Pro Tour. Pretty solid.

Bargain combo engine. This card, doomed traveller, fiend hunter, and angel of glory's rise. Cheaper than the huntmaster combo, and almost as good. No life gain, but infinite token spirits. Add in intangible virtue or phantom general for better results.
This is far better than the 3.03/5 it has right now. Sure, it's not the best card in Standard — not even close — but it was an integral part of a PT-winning deck, and that's certainly worth something.

I mainly use her for defense or so I can sac creatures and morbid with Skirsdag High Priest. The idea of winning a game on a 10 turn clock with this lady isn't really my cup of tea but I run two copies of her with trepanation blade in a reanimator/grimoire deck. Best case scenario? You send her in for some unblockable damage that gets pumped by the blade and grimoire when they mill something good.

A sacrifice outlet that can protect itself by making use of it. Interesting. When used, it can also find use as a solid blocker, or even an occational Phantom Warrior.
And that flavor text oozes of Orzhov-natured arrogance.
Another thing regarding the artwork: Her awesomely intrusive, yet still elegant and simple outfit seems like a nice choice for cosplay :D

(Obviously) goes great in a sacrifice deck. If she has buffs (preferably from things like Elder Cathar), you can just sac five (or less) creatures and swing as a gamender. The only thing that could stop her is a boardsweeper, but that goes with all unblockables with some form of hexproof.

I'm planning on sticking this in an orzhov casual deck full of weenies with extort and a few midnight recoverys.
You can sac something like a Tithe Drinker for evasion, extort off of the cipher, and then extort some more off of replaying the weenie you get back. Also, the protection saves her and your cipher'd card from removal.

Far more powerful than it might initially look. Works well with persist creatures to blank exile and tuck effects all the while protecting itself.

This little lady right here has won me countless games and often goes unnoticed and underestimated, until they are getting hit in the face for twenty out of nowhere thanks to ethereal armor and/or nighthowler. Also in the midst of play-testing aspect of gorgon with her...should be fun.
