Part of me wants to whine about this being a necromantic zombie, not a freaky Matrix Phyrexian zombie, but he works so darn well with one of this deck's key wincons.

Love it, definitely want some for my sacrifice deck.
really solid 1 drop. i mean, you get to sac any creature you need to. and it gets the benifit. a staple in a zombie tribe deck.

ok with the new innistrad set I see this coming back into play, with so many 2/2 zombie tokens being easily gotten, this thing will be easily buffed up.

The actual creature itself is almost meaningless when you consider the power of a free sacrifice outlet. Any damage the feeder does is really just a bonus - his main power is forcing your opponent to play around him.
In a weird way he actually reminds me of bushi tenderfoot in that sense. The smartest thing your opponent can do is not get psyched out.
He's just chillin in a graveyard, waiting for a Gravecrawler to come by.

Carrion Feeder becomes absolutely ridiculous with the Zombie tribal base that the Innistrad block brought to the table.
The most obvious one is Gravecrawler, since he can be played from the graveyard as many times as you have black mana... or as many times as you want if you have Rooftop Storm on the field.
Then there are all of the ways to get Zombie tokens, like Army of the Damned. And Endless Ranks of the Dead; the opponent will have to choose between blocking Carrion Feeder or letting him through, and either way the little corpse is going to get HUGE.
This is a nasty little beast in a zombie deck, especially one with recurring creatures. *cough* Gravecrawler *cough* Bloodghast. Yes Bloodghast is not a zombie, but it has the feel of one with the whole coming out of the graveyard thing.
For extra beatdown add in Geralf's Messenger, and another creature that pumps by sacrificing. Add in some fetch lands to thin out the deck, and recur Bloodghast, and you're set with your creature base.

Ive got a nice combo. This guy Rooftop storm Gravecrawler Infinite +1/+1 counters! tee hee...... Then play altar of dementia and Phyrexian altar for infinite mill AND mana!!! Then play bloodflow connoisseur and attack with your army of 100000/100000s! Mwahahahahahaha! Love this guy. 4.5/5 @RedJaron: You call that a combo?
@Twiddle, No I say add in Diregraf Captain for an instant infinite win. ( Note, have done that with my Zombie deck, once in a six-player match. )

Ran a deck with this, death's head buzzard, festering goblin, mortivore and debuffs like dismember and grasp of darkness. With this to fuel the graveyard and grow from it, it was a major force to be reckoned with.

Handy dandy utility zombie. Gravecrawler, favorite snack, etc. etc.

back in the day there was somewhat of an argument: Carrion Feeder, or Nantuko Husk?
It seems that now our favorite little corpse eater is still the best. So many uses for him: Sack a Gravecrawler and have it come back for more good eats, sack a Festering Goblin for easy 1 toughness removal, eat your Graveborn Muse when she starts getting our of control, even sack your Lord of the Undead out from under a pesky Lightning Helix and ruin someone's day.
of course, Husk can do all those things too, but you know what he can't do? Keep his buffs after he eats things. sure you can dodge that lightning helix, but you can't swing for +1 the next turn.
Carrion Feeder, as someone else already said, is great because your opponent must play around it or it or be destroyed

Could this card be used in combination with Vengeful Dead?

I've cheesed a few EDH wins with this guy in Teysa. If you have Teysa, carrion feeder and literally any other creature out on the field and drop darkest hour, you're opponents are going to have a bad day with the now 500/500 zombie (or whenever you stop) if they cannot deal with it quickly. Bonus points if when they go to kill it you swords to plowshares it in response. Triple bonus points if you have any of mortician Beetle, twilight drover or grave pact also on the field when you start these shenanigans.

Always good. From enabling you to run Pit-Dweller, to perma exile with Sculler, to growing huge with tokens/gravecrawler, to helping your zombies dodge removal or keep someone's lifelink from occuring after a chump block.
He blocks end-of-turn reanimation-exile effects so you can reanimate again, he's a 1-drop zombie who's awesome, his sac outlet is free and a good benefit, he's aggro as feth.
