Omnath and wolfbriar elementals are buddies, turn 3 play omnath, turn 4 hold back a few mana while you play something cheap, turn 5 play a 4/4 and 2 - 3, 2/2 wolves. Preferably with a oran-reif the vastwood handy.

This is probably my favourite card in a long while! I'll stick "Canopy Cover" on him for protection and increased unblockability. Should work wonders with "Lotus Cobra". Now if only I could afford to get some...
Also, just noticed you could trade in his mana into an "Everflowing Chalice" for mana acceleration that's verging on unnecessary...

Can get out of control incredibly fast. Lacks trample, but for a damn good reason.
And when your opponent attempts to remove him on their turn, cast Comet Storm (or, if you're doing mono-green, Strength of the Tajuru) and laugh in their face.

mayael's aria would work extremely fast with this card
A friend had Omnath out, and then cast Channel, paying down to one life (he had 40, this was EDH). He had enough mana from Omnath and the Channel to kill both me and my teammate with the Fireball.
HELLO!!! CAN ANYONE THINK OF THE POSIBILITIES? with this its posiable to bring out a 7/7 on turn 5-7 that wipes the feild! yes im talking about Novablast Wurm. you need the perfect hand but still its posiable. the hand has to be this. 1 forest, 2 plains, Novablast Wurm Omnath, Locus Of Mana, 1 swamp and 1 Dark Ritual. i hope you can guese were im going with this! also have you noticed that theres 2 mithics from this set that cost 1 or 2? yes i know you can do this normaly without this guy out but this way you can have two realy powerfull creatures one that you can make indestructable with other cards but still its fun.

so far i like to bring this guy out and pump 4 mana into the mana pool and keep it around there. what i do after that is at the beginning of my turn, assess the situation, if im going to attack with him i pump all my mana into the pool (so on the 5th turn he typically becomes a 9/9 if he was in my opening hand), attack, and then spend the other 5 mana on other spells, etc. rinse and repeat. Being a 5/5 can keep him alive against quite a bit of direct damage and if i think i need to ill keep more in my mana pool. I've only lost a couple games so far with him in my opening hand.

For my elf deck, I can see this guy protected with Whispersilk Cloak, so not only could I use Joraga Warcaller and/or Strength of the Tajuru, but he'd also be protected from removal AND could quickly become strong enough to kill someone with 1 attack since the Cloak also grants unblockability. So either I threaten them with an elven army with 'roids aided also by Quest For Renewal and Overrun or 1 huge creature made purely out of mana, which btw I think it's flavor txt and everything else is very consistent with the name ans etc.
We all know that it can be removed or something pretty easy, but I think ppl forget that can happen to anything, even that nasty Progenitus...but that's the only creature I know that is nearly impossible to actually and totally do away with..... but I enjoy killing ppl with that Hydra anyway ;) the only defense anyone put up against it so far was a Runed Halo. Fairly impressive, but that kind of defense is also easy to remove.

Green is going to be HUGE in the new standard. As the epitomy of all that is green, Omnath accordingly has a card that is going to make him very good. Check out Bear Umbra. Suddenly, all your lands can be tapped for mana twice a turn. Cue an Eldrazi or Gelationous Genesis.

Old school rules, this guy would be way more balanced; if he was killed, all the mana would be emptied into your pool and you'd take mana burn, but now if he gets terror-ed, no big deal - just use one mana for reclaim.

A really good deck uses all its mana everyturn, this card means even a slobby deck that has a bad mana curve can be super efficeint. oh and you can also make it into a massive face beat. one of these ablities would have been good , if it had been in another colour it would have been great. but as is in the colour of spare mana and big fatties this thing rocks my world.
yeah im playing this as my general in my edh deck and he is super awesome

This guy is easily my favorite EDH general. He's cheap, so he can be cast early. He gets very big very quickly. And he's a one-sided Upwelling in the best color for mana acceleration.
Some broken things he's enabled for me include: (1) Genesis Wave for 50 (happens regularly, often with lots of mana still floating) (2) Attacking for 600+ points of general damage (Vernal Bloom + Mana Reflection + Doubling Cube + Seedborn Muse) (3) Dealing 1,200+ points of combat damage with three creatures (Overwhelming Stampede when Omnath was at around 350/350) (4) Killing four opponents at once with a single Goblin Cannon
Note that playing with Winding Canyons and Vedalken Orrery are absolutely essential to any deck with Omnath as your general (as well as plenty of instant-speed mana sinks), else you stand to lose a lot of mana when terrified opponents kill him on someone else's turn.

Can someone tell me why I don't see 4 of these in all eldrazi ramp? He seems perfect for it.
Why did WotC get rid of mana burn? If mana burn was still around, there would be an actual risk to playing Omnomnomnath. If you've piled tons of mana on him and he dies, you would risk getting burned to death. Instead, you just go "Aw, shucks. I lost my stored mana."

I use this in a mono green mana acceleration elf deck. Elvish Herder is his best friend in that deck. though maybe Priest of Titania or Elvish Archdruid could fight for that title. I use elf token generators to create swarms of elves and then get a 40/40 trampler along with like 10 3/3s (1/1 elves pumped by the archdruid or Imperious Perfect) all of this by turn five

Okay, Quick combo i find useful wit omnath, Vorinclex, voice of hunger, Unwinding clock, copper myr, and prototype portal. play prototype portal, imprinting copper myr. when you tap the lands needed for that, you get four green mana, thanks to vorinclex, and you use that land to power up Omnath. then, you tap the copper myrs you have for the single green mana thay give you, giving omnath a powerful boost. llanowar elves, greenweaver druid, and joraga treespeaker are useful here too.
Actually, had they not gotten rid of Mana Burn it is very likely that Omnath would never have been printed, since Omnath itself doesnt STORE mana, it just prevents green mana from leaving your mana pool, meaning that you would sitll suffer damage from mana burn. If they had printed it, it wouldnt have been mythic or legendary, and would most likely be a common and even then it would have been entirely useless until they printed Bear Umbra.

So you can tap out and not worry about your opponent call your bluff that you don't have a Fog...also this thing is freaking amazing, though I usually wait to play him until I have enough mana to equip a Whispersilk Cloak on him right when he comes out
@Sironos: I've always wondered that, along with why they don't play Whispersilk Cloak Momentous Fall (which gives obscene card advantage when they sac it in response to a Go For the Throat), but I think it's because they just wanna play what's hot because it's proven to be good...I think that more people should try fringe builds because people won't expect it, and therefore won't be able to necessarily sideboard-in some counter to it

Of the legendary places of Ondu, none is surrounded by more controversy than that of the Prison of Omnath. Omnath was supposedly a divine manifestation of the ferocious mana of Zendikar, a being that can be found in some incarnation in many creation myths of the plane. Some call Omnath the "flickering heart," the origin of the primal mana that pulses throughout Zendikar. Despite the uncertainty of Omnath's actual existence, a real site on a high mesa of Ondu has been dubbed the Prison of Omnath.

Since Upwelling has reminder text stating that its effect stops mana burn, I'm guessing Omnath would have stopped it too. The risk would have been in getting hit with it once Omnath dies and the mana pool is emptied. Ouch.

Omnath, Locus of Mana + Stream of Life= Game-Breaker. All you have to do is store up mana for a few turns and convert it to life with Stream of Life and you are set.
Why does it say "green mana" in the text? What is the rules for the erratas? I thought colored manas were replaced by the respective mana symbols. Anyone who knows about this please explain. I'm curious.
