I would disagree that this is best Elf card. Best card for an Elf deck maybe, but Llanowars are much more versatile. They are extremely useful in almost any {G} deck, where this is only useful in Elf-only decks.
Not saying this card sucks. On the contrary, this is amazing, but NOT "the best Elf" or "best 1/1 creature".

This is a great card with a lot of potential, but I think it is a bit overrated. It's currently rated as THE #1 creature on the entire website... of all time??
Very powerful mana generation, but only effective in a deck that ramps quickly with other mana sources like llanowar elves. An absolute must have in elf decks, to be sure.

Its not overrated in any way. Combining other cards from the set, such as Gaea's Cradle and Exploration . Along with Rofellos, you could generate insane amounts of green mana, and with ridiculous speed. And if your running any green deck at all, that is going to work at all on the basis of mana acceleration there is no reason not to run elves, and no excuse not to run this elf.

I had this chick back when I really got into magic. I gave all my cards away unfortunately, but now I'm back and in full force!! Hell ya baby. She's a staple for elf decks for real. I know people throw that word around a lot, but I really really mean it right now. And it seems like everyone else in here knows it too. Beautiful card, dang expensive though (almost costs as much as Phage to get a playset haha), but I would recommend you buy this card if your planning on making an elf deck.
PS this is extremely Good it is NOT OVERRATED. Anyone who says that has never used it (or used it correctly).

Elf, another word for broken. I like nothing better than playing my mono red deck against my friend's elf deck, just the sheer joy in watching all those overpowered undercosted pointy ears getting scorched to the bone before they can tap for 10 mana on turn 3 is simply the best. Nothing like dropping a pyroclasm and wathcing the whople promenade getting torched in a sea of burning green clothes, while with evil laughter shouting "this is revenge on all broken green mana ramp".

likely one of the most useful mana ramp cards for elves, if not the best. usually getting 3+ mana at least, every turn, for 2 mana, very nice. 5

Too bad Elvish Archdruid pretty much betters this in every way. It fits a whole lot better into an elf deck's mana curve (considering something like a turn 1 Llanowar Elf or Arbor Elf) AND has the Lord buff effect.
Granted, there's no reason not to run BOTH...

@MrBarrelRoll: Elvish Archdruid has two potentially significant drawbacks compared to this card
1) The Archdruid cost 3CMC whereas this costs 2CMC 2) The Archdruid only counts your elves, while the Priest counts all elves on the battlefield
If you're playing a straight Elf Tribal deck then you'll probably want the Archdruid just for the +1/+1 boost it gives all your Elves, but if you're mostly concerned about mana ramp then the Priest comes out faster and potentially for more.

I think it's clear that Urza's Saga was a time when Wizards of the Coast thought it would be a great idea to get high while designing cards. Really... what were they smoking?!
I like the use of "he" in the ruling text. Disregarding the observation that this creature appears to be female, I had always assumed they tried to stick to non-gendered pronouns for creatures, even legendary ones. The argument for a regular creature could be made that not all creatures are of a certain gender, i.e. this Priest of Titania looks female, but not all Priests of Titania are; this card just happens to show any random priest who happens to be female. Legendary creatures on the other hand are one of a kind.
Interestingly enough, the rules text on planeswalkers uses gendered pronouns, for example the use of "him" on Garruk Relentless. Maybe now that they're heavily pushing a format where legendary creatures are significant they'll consider doing this with legends too.
Also, notice how the ability on this card (as printed) says "Add " but the ability as printed on Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary in the same block says "add one green mana."

although this guy is one less than the archdruid, the archdruid gives a +1/+1 buff as well, which helps preserve your elves.
But, I wouldn't look past this card. with this in a elf deck, you can pull him out on turn 2, and have enough mana left for an additional elf, while you'd tap out with the archdruid.

O_o Wow Casting a turn 4 Emrakul is not only possible in Elves, it's likely. Heck, even if it's the only Elf you control, it's ok, but once you get multiples of Priests or Archdruids out, the mana just hit obscene amounts.

My playset of this has one me more games than I can count. There's a reason that this card is the highest rated creature on gatherer and has been for awhile. It quite seriously is one of the best. The speed at which insane mana can be produced with this is nearly unrivaled. Especially when considering that you can easily run it with cards like Wirewood Lodge, Vitalize and Omnath and whatever else you need to get the most mileage out of it. And with Elvish Spirit Guide it comes out on turn 1!
Also, I'm surprised people argue over which Elf is better, this or Elvish Archdruid. This one's superior for ramp, costing lest and potentially giving you more mana, but the Archdruid buffs your elves too. But who even cares, if you're running elves, why not just run both? That's what I do.
