3.5/5. Comboes well with Spike Rogue and Humility. The regeneration on this guy is just nasty. You'd think having a 5/5 for 7 was bad enough...

But he's not JUST a bomb. He's also great for fodder if your out of other options. Just drop him as a 1/1 or 2/2 and start chump blocking with that regeneration...

He's very hard to deal with. Save for chump blocking, of course.

Oh geez, this reminds me of when I first started playing.
We were all noobs, and my friends never played black, so... he was usually something rediculous like a 18/18, and I just smashed face until I won.

You just have to love the art. Richard Kane Ferguson is the best.

What's krakilin, y'all?
Ohohoho, I kill me.

But seriously, this is almost always a strictly better Ivy Elemental, which is pretty snazzy.

Cool art, but bad mechanics. Much like Ivy Elemental, this is always going to be subpar compared to decent creatures of the same mana cost as that which you spend on Krakilin. For example, If you spend four mana on Krakilin you get an inferior Phyrexian Monitor.

When you stop to think about it, this card is just bad.

The one thing to worry about when casting this spell comes as a gamble. Would you...
1) spend all your mana to make it big initially ?
2) save two mana to save it from next turn death traps, but permanently reduces it's power by 2 ?

I guess it's easier to make a decision once you know how your opponent plays, though.

this card is bad, but the artwork from RKF saves it. it would have been a 0.5.... but i'll give it a 3.5 for the incredible art.

I don't think these types of cards are bad, but not great either. The nice part is they are castable just about when ever you have them in your hand, so you don't have to sit around waiting to get it out. The negative side is that it ends up costing more than a creature of it's power/toughness normally would. Regeneration is a plus for this one, but like Kruzewah said, if you tap out to make this guy as big as possible it's vulnerable right away.

XC is standard cost for X/X creatrure. This has regeneration for the othe Green, so Variable ColorlessGreenGreen for X/X regenerator is just fine.

The artwork is nice and all...but....

It took me like 20 seconds to figure out what that jumbled mess is. Some shadows would have been nice.

That's what you can expect from Magic's most overrated artist, Richard Kane Ferguson. Seen one of his paintings, seen 'em all.

Fully expecting a flurry of 0.5 star ratings for this comment. :-D

The card itself is pretty ho-hum. The art makes it a treasured part of my collection. To anyone who doesn't like RKF art, I suggest a quick trip to see the wizard. I bet he has a sense of artistic appreciation in that sack of his. Highly h-o-m-ogenized (screw you, auto-censor), cookie-cutter art, like you see in most of the new sets is boring. It all looks more or less the same, and rare is the artist that manages to stand out from that mountain of dross. Every RKF card is immediately recognizable because of his distinctive style. I would love to see a new set where WOTC enacts a strict 'no photoshop' policy. I miss the paintings. 5/5
