Great enchantment, but it could have the same problem Shielding Plax had. Your opponent can just kill the creature in response to this being played. I love a good aura, though.

Also, capitalizing every word in your sentence is unimaginably annoying, especially when you never have anything worthwhile to say.

Excellent card, it's cheap enough to cast early. Back it up with Vines in case someone wants to get froggy and fry your creature before it resolves.

Dislike. Creature enchantments should be useful without having to attach them to creatures that are big already. It sort of defeats the purpose. Try Vines of Vastwood if you need a shroud-granting card from Zendikar block--it's much better.

A creature that can be made unblockable except to flying and have shroud with a 2 mana enchantment can be some awesome fun for green, where most of your creatures are big to begin with. It only takes one 3/3 with this on it or a 4/4, and some colossal might to finish a game quick before your opponent grabs their wrath.. if you got this on a great sable stag its game over for most blue/black decks right there.

1 green mana for troll shroud and colorless mana for unblockable except creatures with flying or reach? That's some good deal!

Essentially give it super shroud and offensive flying. Much better than Vines of Vastwood IMO because it gives permanent evasion (as long as he doesn't take care of the enchantment). However, I'd put both in a deck, as VoV can provide a boost and that instant speed can be good in a pinch.

This is card to use with "Omnath, Locus of Mana". He's too valuable to leave open, and strong enough to warrant the attack bonus. This reminds me of "Whispersilk Cloak", which has a very similar combination of effects.
I don't think this is better or worse than "Vines of Vastwood". They both have their strengths. I'll probably run them both. In all, a nice green staple.

If this aura would have given the enchanted creature +1/+1 with the rest of the effect, it might would have been better. Personally, I prefer Vines of Vastwood, as others said before.

Nice art though

Hmmm...I'm thinking of putting this in a BG deck, with Ob Nixilis, the Fallen and a Savage Silhouette attached to it
d^-^b
And it is better than Vines because the effects lasts INDEFINITELY, although Vines does give it a boost. 4/5

I always liked green's reverse reach effects, especially with all the flyer sweeps in green.

Thisis just good enough that it won't be a 2-for-1 if you use it in constructed and you know when to cast it.

This flying-but-not really mechanic is fun, as suddenly you have a nigh-unkillable 'flyer' but you can still Hurricane, Squall Line, and Windstorm all their flyers out of the sky.

I wish they would do more of these than once per every 3 years.

I'd put it on a vedalken heretic. I wonder if it is tournament worthy?

Pros:
It allows a fatty to get through enemies without flying, potentially ending a game quickly.
It's a safeguard against removal, allowing your big creatures to survive more then 1 turn.

Cons:
It's not instant so if your opponent have a removal in hand when you cast your creature they cna remove it before you get the chance to enchant it. Then can even remove it in response to our enchantment, wasting both of them.
It puts you at a creature disadvantage. So you have a Leatherback Baloth they can't block? But they have a Leatherback Baloth and a Nissas's Chosen. You can atack for 4. But they can atack for 6.
So unless you have a large creature advantage over them already I would much rather play another creature then enchanting one of them.

Summary:
There are some rare situations where Canopy Cover fits, but in 95% of all situations i would much rather have a Vines of Wastewood. It only protects my creature for a single turn, but also stops a removal dead in it's track working like a psuedo-counterspell. It also allows me to buff up my creatures, gaining a significant combat advantage, while Canopy Cover gives none.
Not to mention the suprise factor that comes from playing an instant.

This card did wonders for me in Limited - the effect is cheap, and it's not hard to to find an opportunity to play it. River Boa was practically irremovable, and huge fatties were just insane.

Am I the first one???

This card is a combination of Dense Canopy and Dense Foliage as an aura card and some better/options. But this is the reason, why I don't like this card from a design perspective.

It's shurely a powerful card in limited, if you can get this thing going. Making a River Boa or any fattie the game winner, hell Summit Apes or Vastwood Zendikon feels so unbelievable powerful if enchanted with this card...

But as already mentioned, it's still an aura and still can be 'countered' by removing the target. Therefore I would have rather enjoyed this as a real creature or if there would have been a Gatherer of Graces with ff-shroud and this aura with regenerate instead of ff-shroud.

I play against a friend who spams removals at my creatures and I don't get Vines of Vastwood in my hand all the time so Canopy Cover is great to keep my creatures stationary

Good, efficient, cheap card d(^^d)

Remember: You can also put it on an opponent's flier to prevent him from buffing/bouncing/equipping/enchanting it.

"Green can't block fliers."
"Spiders, or similar creatures with Reach."
"Green has big, bad toughies for too much mana."
"Llanowar Elves"
"Green doesn't have much evasion..."
"Well, let's think of something low cost, and has no negative side effects..."
Green is the "answer" color.

Best used with Eldrazi. As none of them have trample, they always get chump blocked. This solves that problem while protecting them from removal. And you can easily cast it on your Hand of Emrakul on the same turn you bring him into play.
Also good for protecting your Scute Mob.

I've read level up cards. it doesnt say target but was thinking it couldnt hurt to ask. i put this on my buddiess kargan so he couldnt level it up because i felt he had to have the card target itself (because it cant target anything else). He went along with it for the one game but the scenario hasnt popped up again. Either way the card is too good, in my rush naya when i get my Mayael's Aria going, i just pop this on either a scute or an omnath and see who wins first..aria or omnath haha. Great card

Has anyone realised that this is a silhana elves on an enchantment?

☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
Leatherback Baloth with this on it is fun. Especially since Giant Growth and other instant pump cards can still be played on them. Swinging for seven on turn three is fun.

Or if you are looking for more power then use this on Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre to make him nearly untouchable. Obviously the same thing applies with Darksteel Colossus.

I run 3 in my standard elf along with 4 Vines of Vastwood. When i get this out on the same turn as Omnath, Locus of Mana it wins games.

Great for fatties to keep them from being chump blocked. Great for weenies to keep them from being bolted.

Amazing on Scute Mob, who starts off weenie and ends up the fattest thing on the field.

This card helped me win a game. Like other's stated, it is a great alternative to Vines of Vastwood. Great anti-removal.

@scumbling1:
Kor Spiritdancer says hello.
Of course, that's a very specific situation, and I'm sure you consider the Spiritdancer to be a terrible card without a competitive pedigree. Just thought you might enjoy the single counter-example to the card-disadvantage I could think of off the top of my head.
Also, Canopy Cover will protect your creatures from Brainspoil. Lol.
Edit: Bramble Elemental doesn't count because an opponent can kill it in response to an aura being cast, whereas the Spiritdancer draws you a card when an aura is cast.

Aura Gnarlid, Kor Spiritdancer...those all seem great, but almost too obvious.

Now stick this on a Timbermaw Larva...and you can win quite a few games.

Anyone abusing this card with infectors? Seems like a pretty solid idea.

I wonder if this card, among many others, will be making the key-word transition to 'hexproof', and if so, if it'll effect it any (ie, if it gives the creature hexproof, it would be less effective to give to opponent's creautres).

And did I really have to sit through a discussion on 'why auras are bad'? You can honestly argue the same thing about most card-types, and even having cards-in-hand. Auras are just notorious for having the largest downside comparably, and that's easily remedied by a number of cards such as Kitsune Mystic, Skull of Orim, and Umbra Mystic.
Some rules-changes to make them more playable would be pretty awesome though; such as attachment upon resolution instead of upon casting.

★★★☆☆ (3.4/5.0) (5 votes)
Did they forget to give this Oracle text saying it gives the creature Hexproof?
PeabodyET
★★★★☆ (4.8/5.0) (4 votes)
@ Gelzo: They didn't change it to Hexproof because that would change who can target it. The way it is now, the opponents of the enchantment's controller can't target the creature. If you give it Hexproof, then the opponents of the creature's controller can't target it.

You can play this on an opponent's creature to prevent them (or other opponents) from targeting it. This isn't the same as Hexproof.

Completely outclasses Vines of Vastwood in infect decks.

Vines of Vastwood = +4/+4, hexproof+ for GreenGreen
Canopy Cover + Invigorate = +4/+4, permanent hexproof+, permanent psuedo-flying for 1Green

You get CA and versatility with Vines, but hardly enough.

★★★★★ (5.0/5.0) (1 vote)
It doesn't say hexproof because this is functionally different than hexproof. You could play this on an opponent's creature and prevent said creature from being the target of spells your opponent plays, whereas hexproof would make it so your opponent can target the creature and you can't.

My Black/Green infect loves it. Especially poor Hand of the Praetors which is always first in line for removal. The poor little dead bird is like lightening rod for those bolts.

@CuriousThing Gotta say you've got a weird argument there. What about Vines of Vastwood + Invigorate then? If you're comparing Vines and Canopy Cover, I don't think you're supposed to add something really powerful to one side and say it has the other side beat.

@Pipikako
"lemme spam atack u with my 8/8 beast token and laugh in ur face with your removal cards."

*destroys the enchantment*
*keeps countering spells, bouncing*

Well, the card doesn't protect against global removal, so if I did something that forced all creatures back to your hand, like Evacuation, your creature would still go to your hand, and all your tokens would go bye bye, since it doesn't specifically target a creature.
