It's like a Fireball but broken up into mini-Fireballs. Even if someone could counter activated abilities they would have to counter each point of damage seperately, good luck with that! Best goblin direct-damage since Goblin Grenade.

How does this work? I'm assuming that you can use it multiple times as long as you have the mana, but then it gets sacrificed at the end.

The new Rocket Launcher!

This seems worse than Rocket launcher, unless there is errata, it reads like its 6 mana for 1 damage.

If thats the case I'd rather use Aeolipile

The way this card works is you activate it as many times as you can pay for before any of the activations resolve. When the first one resolves the Cannon is sacrificed. But the other activations are still on the stack and deal their damage. Since goblin cannon is no longer in play, the sacrifice part is ignored on all the other activations.

damage isn't on the stack anymore.

utterly useless now.

Combat damage doesn't use the stack, other damage does.

This is a pretty classless finish for an inf mana deck: prime whatever hacked out combo you want for inf mana and then throw this out and machine gun down all of your opponents. Fun stuff. Just watch those counterspells.

Way to go Wizards. Power creep, mythic-rare profitting, and now messing over old cards. Seriously, since the Alara block, WotC has rendered dozens of cards, if not hundreds, completely useless.
See Lair lands, 90% of vanilla creatures pre-Ravnica, 80% of burn spells, etc.

This card is awesome, Karn EDH finisher, and definitely as good as it's older brother (Rocket Launcher) in most situations. I give it a 4, because it should only cost 3, but the activations are relatively cheap (though with infinite mana who cares if it's cheap?!?)

I love reading comments from people who have opinions about things they don't even understand.

This gem is particularly irritating:
damage isn't on the stack anymore.

utterly useless now.

Obviously you don't understand what that even means. The only change m10 brought was combat damage off the stack. Activations still use the stack, you can still activate this card infinite times and do infinite damage, just as before. Nothing changed with this card, it works exactly the way it did before.

This card is just really really disgusting. Everytime I have to look at it, it makes me want to spit.

I feel pretty certain that you don't know how this card works. It's not a good card, but if you're actually considering playing Rocket Launcher, I don't think you understand that you can activate the ability more than once. Goblin Cannon is sacrificed upon resolution of it's ability, not as a cost to play the ability. Therefore, you can place as many instances of it on the stack as you can pay for before it blows up.

1 Metalworkers
1 Staff of Domination
1 Goblin Canon
3 Artifacts in hand
Win game.

@spacemunky: Yeah, they'd have to do something crazy like end the turn!

A strange card, to say the least. If you don't understand it, you're paying 6 for one damage.

But if you do understand it...*Maniacal grin*

How would this card interact with effects that return the card to hand? For instance, Dissipation Field which returns a permanent to owner's hand when it does damage to you. Would the card be in the graveyard or in owner's hand?

@ Ragamander and Spacemunky:
No, nothing too difficult or crazy have to be done. It is enough to have good old Interdict, but it does not mean that Goblin Cannon is worse card because of it.

Great card for any time, when you feel like discovering Johnny in you. Because of cards like this, we like numerous variations of Magic.

To those saying that Rocket Launcher is better I would argue the opposite *almost* every time. This can be played when your opponent is tapped out (against colors that might be able to stop you from blasting them.)

Rocket Launcher has to sit for a turn. I'll pay the extra 4 mana now on my 50 mana combo rather than wait a turn suffering removal or the opponent playing a finisher or counter to the card.

Problem: Cannon breaks upon firing.
Solution: Put more bombs in there.

---For everything there's a good way, a bad way and a goblin way.
