Still one of the most powerful R/W creatures in existence. Superb cost, incredibly useful ability, efficient power, toughness, viable tribes. There is so little to hate about this guy.

That and he can toss Blightsteel colossus, whats not to love about that.

Wow, the Commander precons have lots of Lorwyn-era classics. It makes me nostalgic, and I didn't even play Magic back then.

"Sacrifice a creature other than Brion Stoutarm: Brion Stoutarm deals damage equal to the sacrificed creature's power to target player."

"Brion Stoutarm deals damage equal to the sacrificed creature's power to target player."

"Brion Stoutarm deals damage"

This guy as your general in EDH with Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer and you'll win in a few turns cuz he only has to do 21 total damage to each player to kill them.

The thought of Brion Stoutarm throwing a Mother of Runes at the opponent is quite disturbing.

On the other hand, throwing a Little Girl sounds like fun.

Just wondering.

If you can get a lightning elemental to attack and not get blocked, after combat, could you tap Brion Stoutarm and throw the elemental for a total of 12 damage to the enemy player in addition to 6 health for yourself?

I use him as the Commander in my EDH with Concerted Effort, Sword of Vengence, and a lot of first strike and double strike RW creatures. Use Stoneforge Mystic, Quest for the Holy Relic, and other white creatures to search for SoV, Quietus Spike, or Sunforger. Sunforger can then get me Day of Judgment or Wrath of God if I need it. Among other uses.

A 4/4 Lifelink for 4, and a Fling machine on top of that? That's a definite 4/5.

My friend made an EDH deck around this fellow. He uses a slew of red temporary-creature-theft stuff, attacks you with your own guys, and then throws them at your face. It's stylish, hilarious, and effective without being overpowered, but still incredibly demoralizing; you don't get excited putting out powerful stuff against a deck like that. The Mimeoplasm lives in fear of Brion Stoutarm.

In the top 10 of generals for Commander for obvious reasons.

Read Sunforger again, twice if need be.

Anywhoo, I want to try to kill people with Brion, he seems hilarious, even though his fling damage does not count as general damage for the 21, it must be dealt in combat. Cards like Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind and Kaervek the Merciless made it so it had to be changed to combat damage. It was mostly Niv's fault, but he's still my favorite general. (@ SarpNasty)

I might even have to throw Brion at someone with a Bloodshot Cyclops for the added lulz.

Ha, his name is "Brian". They tried to fix it a bit by making it "Brion", but nope. "Brian" What a dork.

He's a cool card, he's basically Fling that grew arms and legs. I'm sure there's hundreds of ways to get the opponents creatures and use them against them. It's just a shame that he can't throw at other creatures, though. It'd be like a remote controlled "Fight" ability. Using Fight, but making someone safely far away from Brion doing it instead of Brian himself. What a coward.

But unfortunately he cannot. He's not a coward, he's just an idiot who wont throw at other creatures.

Templar314, while Lorwyn I guess must seem old to new players that started between Shards of Alara and Scars of Mirrodin, the REAL Classics of the Commander Precons are the RAVNICA cards.

Who's the greatest warrior ever?
A hero of renown?
Who slayed an evil ocean?
Who cast the Lich King down?
Brion!
And that time the evil Fire Count
Captured a damsel fair.
Who saved her with such brav'ry
That she offered him her hair?
Brion!
Also… he fought a bear! BRIIIIIIIIIIOOOOOOOON!

"I love you, Brion! I have a secret crush on you, Brion!"

What would Brion Stoutarm do
If he were here right now?
He'd prob'ly chuck your Commander at you
That's what Brion Stoutarm'd do

When Brion Stoutarm took the field
And saw a Sneak Attack
He chucked my Darksteel Colossus
Right after a surprise attack

When Brion Stoutarm gazes across
To Thraximundar's eyes
He Act of Treason'd, then a chuck
To old Thraxy's surprise

... and so on. True story.

He's my EDH general. He's very mean with Phyrexian Processor.

He is in my Gisela EDH deck 'cause Malignus hates chumps.

And props to bay_falconer for being a fellow troper.

YES. PHYREXIAN PROCESSOR! YES! EVIL! YES!

Over-excitement aside, giving him Grafted Exoskeleton is simply delicious. Just play a Moltensteel Dragon/Immolating Souleater, pay X life until their power is 10, then pop opponents like it's no tomorrow.

Play Resurrection for extreme douchebagery.

Not only that, but I'd expect you to play Stonehewer Giant with him and maybe a few Giants while you're at it. Maybe Sun Titan and have Souleater come back each turn? It isn't that far-fetched

It's worth concidering putting a Squee in there, just in case you run out of things to throw.

You get bonus points for running Brion in a deck with no other creatures. "The steal-a-thon is on." Bonus bonus points if you figure out how to steal and fling a Progenitus. (It can be done!)

Not to mention...

ZEDRUU: I'm gonna start dumping all these creatures with negative abilities on you, like Bronze Bombshell. Ok?

BRION ... :D

ZEDRUU: Aww crap. Not you again.

BRION ... :D :D :D :D :D

maybe throwing Serra Avatar and Malignus will be fun, i think ?? . top it up with Gratuitous Violence or Gisela, Blade of Goldnight. it will hurt a lot..... or use Threaten,Traitorous Instinct or Conquering Manticore. any same effect just to grab your friend's creature and fling it back to him/her.

Solid, well costed creature with a decent ability and an in-built, cheaper Fling? Excellent.

I like that he can just pick up an Eldrazi or Colossus, and throw it like it's no big deal. Not only that, but he *kills it in one hit* in the process.

There's only a few creatures in magic that do things like that; one being Pit Spawn

He is kind of a godsend in EDH, being the only Boros general option which doesn't care about combat whatsoever.
