Well, basically it's interesting with quite a lot of cards - Johnny approves.

Yay. Approve approve approve. I WANTS IT. Except that most people will hoard theirs for Scars, waiting to see how good it will be with that set. Hopefully not a lot (stupid competitive players THE GAME IS FOR PLAYING NOT FOR WINNING.)

6 for a 4/4 isn't terribly uncommon on an artifact creature, but that ability has amazing potential with primal cocoon, steel overseer, and a voltaic key to keep it going.
Plus, get ridiculous with a doubling season, this one is going in my Experiment Kraj EDH deck for sure.
Great with master transmuter for re-using his effect. I'm thinking master transmuter, steel overseer, voltaic key and RITE OF REPLICATION

this goes great with... well, anything that works with counters... (if only it said remove A counter from triskelion, take that wither!)

Triskelion with Steel Overseer and Voltaic Key is obviously good, but have a few artifacts with the modular ability and this combo is soooo much better!
you would only be able to remove wither counters if he had his toughness boosted somehow, otherwise it would kill him before you could. even if he was 4/4 from his +1/+1 counters, it would simply cancel out counters instead of having both +1/+1 and -1/-1 counters on him at the same time.

Ah yes, I remember back in the days of Mirrodin/Kamigawa I had a strange deck that used Otherworldly Journey to bring him in and out of play over and over, unloading his counters with one more every time he came back. Eternal Witness and Hana Kami got me back my Journeys and various soulshift cards recurred my Hana Kami. Not terribly good, but it was a lot of fun and won me a fair amount of games.
@UltimaCenturion Why wouldn't you play to win? I don't get it.
The best combo is with Mephidross Vampire. Throw in a Blade of the Bloodchief to ping his life down. Maybe a couple of whispersilks for protection. This will force your opponent to not cast any creatures.
Yet another card lining up to go skipping through the meadow with Proliferate.

I dunno, I never thought this guy was that good; unless you make it a point to go broken with the 2,000+ over-used and obvious(and clearly NOT johnny) combos, break him down. With Memnite as a 1/1 Artifact Creature for 0, that's mana, for a lightningbolt that's colorless and can be divided as you choose.
Pretty much, go infinite, or run Flame Javelin. How creative =/
Oh, there are many Johnny combos with him as well. For example, use him with Power Conduit and Clockwork cards. Or combo him with Arcbound Ravager as a backup if it dies. Or combo him with Forgotten Ancient. And of course Experiment Kraj loves this card.

If I slap a Grafted Exoskeleton or Tainted Strike/whatever on him, then start removing his counters, wil the opponent receiving the damage be hit with poison counters?
This + Vigor + Mephidross Vampire = Infinite Power/Toughness on ALL of your creatues. Add a second Triskelion to this combo and you can do infinite damage to your opponent.

funny combo but one that works doubling season, vigor, plus him he deals damage to himself gets +2+2 and becomes a giant machine gun :)
That wouldn't work. Vigor prevents the damage and the Vampire's ability would only go off if Triskelion dealt damage. Though, it's still a board wipe combo if you need one.
@MechaKraken
Yes. Just because it's not combat damage being dealt doesn't mean that a creature's abilities aren't taken into account. A creature with lifelink, deathtouch, wither, or infect would cause you to gain life, kill creatures, leave behind -1/-1 counters, or put poison counters on a player, whenever damage is dealt, regardless of how damage is dealt.

This guy sees a lot of play in Vintage decks running Mishra's Workshop, because he can kill Dark Confidant and a variety of other beasties, and... artifact-only decks really don't have any better options. Somewhat better with Goblin Welder for recursion, though it takes two turns (or two welders) to recharge him.

Gg with Mikaeus.
In case you don't get the combo: Have both out, Triskelion with a fresh 3 counters. Remove 1 counter to ping whatever you want, and then the last 2 to ping Triskelion itself (it's a 2/2, it has to die!). It'll pass, resurrect due to undying with an extra +1/+1 counter. Remove 2 counters, ping whatever, remove the last 2 to kill Triskelion again. Repeat until gg.

What I read a minute ago was that if you play his ability with Curse of Stalked Prey he will do unlimited DAMAGE ! All you have to do is have this guy and that one and use its ability and it will trigger like a machine gun ...Unless your opponent realizes this combo and counters it , you just use this ability to 1. remove a counter and hit opponent 2 .gain counter back 3. remove counter 4. repeat for the WIN! edit : oh it might not work ....would that be combat damage then ?

So annoying in EDH with Mikaeus, the Unhallowed. You ping him with two counters after using the rest to hit a player and repeat until you win.

@Lyriq
That doesn't work. Lord of extinction would be a 0/0 in your graveyard. It's effect is only when it's in play, not in your graveyard, and Triskelion's effect only works for Minoplasm if you choose it to be the copy and LoE as the +1/+1 counter giver. Meaning minoplasm would be... this card. You wasted your play.

This is a pretty damn good card in commander... The Mimeoplasm with this plus exile Lord of Extinction after Traumatize-ing yourself is basically game over.
@ PhoenixZephyrus
That's absolutely not true. LoE has a characteristic-defining ability that defines it in any zone. I'll even quote you the rule:
208.2a The card may have a characteristic-defining ability that sets its power and/or toughness according to some stated condition. (See rule 604.3.) Such an ability is worded “This creature’s power or toughness is equal to . . .” or “This creature’s power and toughness are each equal to . . .” This ability functions everywhere, even outside the game. If the ability needs to use a number that can’t be determined, including inside a calculation, use 0 instead of that number.

While people have mentioned the infinite combo with Mikaeus, the Unhallowed, I use it in my Vorel of the Hull Clade EDH deck. He becomes extremely large, then if anyone tries to kill him, they take about 20 to the dome, or all of their creatures die. Not as good as the insta-win, but I like the rest of Vorel's combos a lot better.
@Kamahl_Folk: While it doesn't matter that much, you can remove two counters from triskelion, then remove one to kill itself, then remove 3 every time it undies. Still an infinite combo, so it doesn't matter, but in case someone interrupts it, you can get a few more damage.

I love the way Magic uses rare words, like with this and Sylvan Caryatid. A triskelion is a three-sided symbol with radial symmetry, usually of an abstract shape or a human leg. It's on the flag of Sicily. A caryatid is a human figure used as an architectural column, which the promo art for Sylvan Caryatid clearly shows.
As far as I know, there is no such thing as a Triskelavus or Pentavus. Just like with Manticore and Masticore, the Magic creative team took real words and extrapolated into plausible and interesting made-up words. I think they do a great job in general. (Manticore is an actual mythical beast, masticore is a mash-up of manticore and masticate.)
