Pretty good, especially with some sort of token or 1/1 removal. If you can get something like Volcanic Fallout or Deathbringer Thoctar you can wipe those tokens away.

For best possible: counter something like a 7cc spell, cast Volcanic Fallout, each Deathbringer gets +7/+7.

And yes it is a lot of colors but it would work in Grixis pretty well. Rated 4.5 because it is effective and pretty damn sweet.

you know what is great about this card? bird decks and decks with propaganda or ghostly prison.

also when ever i play it i say "guys lets play some doves" because when you get rid of the non creature cards this is really just doves the gathering.

O and 1 more thing you win the game if Guile is on your side of the field.

@ Elysiume
Cards like Volcanic Fallout wouldn't work because they'd be countered by Dovscape before killing the doves.

@Nimeon: Volcanic Fallout can't be countered.

The player with Dovescape could consider Boseiju, Who Shelters All to force through his own noncreature spells.

Worth splashing green for Scattershot Archer, probably. Seems like the easiest way to deprive them of their birds while keeping your own, should you want them.

Great card and really hard to get rid of since it can prevent most removal from your opponent, including Krosan Grip for instance.
Anything a player will be able to cast once this card hits the table are creatures, what makes watching your opponent easier most of the time.
Scattershot Archer for instance can keep the heaven clean in case you mainly run other creature cards which don't mind this.
And even if you don't use cards like the archer you could make use of damage prevention as from Guardian Seraph and consider adding Pride of the Clouds and Radiant, Archangel, which will do a pretty good job especially if they get trample.
It's also fun when you cast noncreature spells that can't be countered, since it will both resolve and provide an accordant amount of bird.

zulp, scattershot would kill all the birds, not just theirs, unless you pump them some how

but yeah, guile and this, I pay 1, cast tome scour, counter, remove, bird, repeat about 1 million times, then next turn, swing, and btw, once played, tome scour is still handy for another turn of birds, as long as guile survived

infinate birds ftw

youd still have to keep spamming volcanic fallout to keep an opponent from attacking you, considering once they see you have red, theyd just attak each turn, and play noncreature spells every turn. this card is great with things like pride of the clouds, court hussar, and spirit warden

would be fun in a deck thats mainly zendikar traps. seeing as the cards converted mana cost stays the same, your traps would come out for free or less than thier cc, and would spawn masses of doves

I'm gonna run this in my Blood Seeker deck with Hunted Phantasm. Biggest problem with that deck is people who spam the things that this counters.
Also, you have to run this with Guile. You just have to.

Dovescape + Guile + noncreature spell (played by anyone) = infinite doves

1) Spell is cast
2) Dovescape triggers, tokens are made
3) Guile exiles the spell, the you choose to cast the spell
4) Repeat steps 1-3 until infinite is achieved, then choose not to cast the exiled spell.

Turn 7 combo seems kinda slow though, but still very satisfying and relatively easy to fit into a deck.

I use this in a deck with Glorious Anthem and Eldrazi Monument. Does pretty well. If I can get a Soul Warden early then play the Anthem, then Raise the Alarm, then Eldrazi, followed by the Dovescape. True this takes time, but I usually have a few counterspells handy to buy me a turn or two.

If anyone is wondering, Isochron Scepter does not get through this. It can be considered, however, to be a flying Raise the Alarm without card disadvantage every turn, and that's pretty good.

So I still play the two together. I also play this with Guile, Guardian Seraph and Blood Seeker. I have a friend who plays Soul Wardens, though, and that kind of hurts. Thankfully I pack a decent amount of removal.

Makes pride of the clouds the cheepest 20/20 flyer i've ever played.

You could just play something like Thistledown Liege or Eldrazi Monument to make your own birds bigger than your opponent's, then play noncreature spells that can't be countered.

seems lethal in combination with soulcatchers' aerie, although you must have a way to keep the birds from your opponent that also get better out of the picture. would a circle of protection white or blue stop the threat?

Why not ask Venser, the Sojourner to exile this card on your turn, while you cast all manners of noncreature spells, and then return it before your opponents can cast sorceries, enchantments, artifacts and planeswalkers of their own?

Add Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir to neuter your opponents' instants as well.

I love this card, I'm surprised I never commented on it before.
First off, the art on this is absolutely beautiful. I use it as my profile image on more than one forum.
In regards to this card in actual play: this card is awesome. The obvious use is with Enduring Ideal type lockdowns (see previous comments). But another that can be just as fun is casting this, then using a Shining Shoal into a Chant of Vitu-Ghazi or some such on their end step, then smashing in for way too much damage. Good, clean fun.

Use with uncounterable spells. Then you get the spell as well as loadsa birds.

Imagine a Banefire for 5. You hit someone for 5 and get 6 birds! Not terrible. I'm sure there's some goodies out there with that idea. Also still works fine with storm cards.

Combo's amusingly with Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite. You get 3/3 birds, your opponents get nothing.

EDH cluster****. Guile for one thing, to get maximum dove advantage. Lightmine Field just turns the game into dove slaughter. And Elesh Norn transforms a dove battle into a dove one-sider.

Besides that, in my experience few cards in Magic The Gathering put the "Escape" into "Dovescape"

Umm...instead of trying to wipe the board, just use Mycosynth Lattice + Blinkmoth Infusion to throw down lots of birds, or just use Heroes Remembered. Both of those are in color and can net you 9 or 14 birds. Affinity knocks down blinkmoth's casting cost substantially, so you can cast for cheap and suspend Heroes Remembered early (with Clockspinning / Dust of Moments to accel) and have plenty of field presence. Several people already already mentioned Boseji so you can hardcast them late-game for the spell and the birds.

Chronomantic Escape and Reality Strobe can be used early game to keep you alive (especially with Paradox Haze) and net you 6 more birds once this hits the board. Same goes for Dichotomancy. Either hardcast with Boseji and copy their board (since you aren't playing those cards, they won't be countered). Enough said, my favorite victory is just throwing down a Deepchannel Mentor and just attacking for the win.

Belz_: "Engineered Plague gets rid of the pesky birds, if needed."

And how, exactly, do you propose to cast your Plague? Because I imagine you'll end up with 3 bird tokens, instead.

Awesome art,
but this has *got* to be one of he most random card ideas ever:

"Hey man... what if we made a spell that, like, countered spells and gave people birds in exchange?"

"*cough* DUDE- that makes perfect sense! Call it Dovescape. Pass the Funyuns!"

That Guile combo is hilarious and one of the most absurd infinite combos in the game.
Also, try casting an Energy Field before Dovescape- you're practically immortal!

But they really missed a chance to please everyone here:

Crowscape.

Grand Arbiter does a good job when this is around (Just a coincidence that they're both Azorius? Sure thing, pal). I mean, at least in EDH.

One way or another, you'll usually be on top: if they cast a 4-cost spell (like No Mercy), it'll cost 5. If you cast a 4-cost W/U spell (like Cloud Cover), it'll cost 2. For WhiteBlue, you get 4 1/1 flyers, and they get the same for 3BlackBlack. Win win, right?

Not only that, but this can't be destroyed other than by a Indrik Stomphowler or something similar.
Boardwipes aren't going to be an issue either, unless you're suffering (they gave you a Steel Golem? uh oh...)

In general, a card you have to play sparingly. Reminds me of Infernal Genesis.

Part of what makes this so freaking good is the fact you can't Erase or Naturalize it. In fact, you can't Erase or Naturalize anything while this is on the field. Thankfully we have War Priest of Thune and Keening Apparition to keep Dovescape in check.
