I like how he creates creature stalemates. Fun anti-token card.

I'm glad he's being reprinted; he was a fun little vampire card. However, I'd rather have a Nighthawk reprint. Is that asking too much?

The fact that you can choose not to have that player lose life makes him very interesting in multiplayer.

Suture Priest is better, but this is still an effective sideboard against Splinter Twin combos.

You disappoint me and no, you will never be in any vamp deck I make. What's that? Bloolord of Vaasgoth? No, not even if he's around to clean up the mess.

I hate the fact that this doesn't trigger bloodthirst.

If you're playing Suture Priest at all outside limited, you're playing this guy as well. And before she showed up, he was the best at what he does. Poisonbelly Ogre is just way too slow.
If you want to try a deck around them, pick cards like Hissing Miasma or Ghostly Prison, cards that give your opponent tokens like Mercy Killing, Forbidden Orchard, Varchild's war riders, or Hunted Phantasm, ways to further punish your opponent with those tokens such as Angel's Trumpet (if you play ghostly prison) and Massacre Wurm(which is nice with mass-reanimate like pyyrhic revival and Twilight's call) . For some of these cards, mana fixing is an issue. But the deck can be really fun!
In other words, this guy is not as he appears. He will find you later.

One of my favorite vampires. I always run 4 of these in my Vampire deck to ensure at least one reaching the field early on.

To everyone saying Suture Priest is better, sure but blood seeker isn't meant to compete with Suture Priest. Can Suture priest be: given bloodthirst 3 by Bloodlord Of Vaasgoth? be given +1+1 counters by Rakish Heir? be given +2 +2 by Lord Of Lineage? . I think that until we see more vampires from dark ascension, Blood seeker has a place in vampires as a solid early drop alongside Stromkirk Noble and as an early life pressurer in the deck.

Not strictly better than Suture Priest by a long shot, there's probably a lot more support for Vampires out there than Clerics.
Sure, the lifegain is nice, but Vampire type and Doom Blade immunity makes them pretty well-matched.

so i have a rulings question, but cant find any thus far:
i was at 1 life. my brother had 1 blood seeker on the board, i had 6 artifacts on the board already and played a filigree angels, do i lose the 1 life then lose the game, or do i gain the 21 life then lose 1 life?

@darthvalconiz: you lose 1 life but then gain 21, and you would not lose the game. Losing the game from being at zero life is a state based...thingy (technical terms allude me), meaning that the game checks you're life as phases move along. So someone can drop you to zero and you could use and instant to gain life and stay in the game. Pretty much in this case you gain 20 life.

A few of these guys on the board absolutely obliterates mass token decks. Also, like the_sixth_degree said, he has good tribal and is black removal immunity.

A solid common.

@DeathDark

No, I agree. I too would like to see that as a reprint, but for my deck at least, this has far more value since it forces them pay every time they play, and it comes out early.

But it is a bit vulnerable....

.... hence, you must have at least 3 in one deck with some kind of protection to boot.

Besides, the way I see things, how good the card is matters, but its more important how the cards fit together.

Get a hoard of this guy out and SUDDEN DISAPPEARANCE your opponents creatures.

@Beatmick

State based effects cannot be responded to. If you hit zero life, you lose, you instead would need to gain (x) life before any instant or ability would go on the stack.
