I'm really digging this in a creatureless white control deck, using Ajani Goldmane's ultimate as a win condition, or maybe Luminarch Ascension (attack with three angels at a time). Exalted will of course adore this card. All in all, a great defensive enchantment. Hoses token decks, elves, goblins, and white weenie. I love a card that can theoretically take down so many archetypes by itself.

A white Chain Reaction that only works for attacking creatures? and it stays? this is awesome, I'm telling you. Although I hate how white is becoming more Black/Red in a defensive kind of way.

Ugh, I really like this card, but I also hope it doesn't completely destroy my R/BDWs.
I love the card, and the flavor text is seriously amazing, but I hope it doesn't just become tooooo amazing.

Kills the vast majority of RDW's creatures. It's too bad RDW will have gotten most of them out by the time you cast this.
Probably sideboard material, as it's awful against control. However, it completely owns against RDW, White Weenie, Vampires, and is even pretty good against Jund.

I love that this is deliciously anti-aggro, a huge leap forward in control. I don't know if there's enough support for a non-removal based control deck right now (a completely creatureless build, especially), and this may find it's way into more sideboards than into maindecks. But in extended, this will see a lot of play, I'm sure. It's a nice way for Wizards to slow down the game, and I say bravo.
Also, for context's sake, compare to Powerstone Minefield. This is, most often, superior.

Mark of Asylum. Your opponent should concede after that. You could also use Dauntless Escort if your attacking with lots of stuff.

I dropped this against my friend's slivers, saved my ass for a few turns (all I had was Akroma). Then, he dropped Vigor.
Game over for me.

Not a control player myself, but Lightmine Field is actually pretty good in the right aggro deck--one huge attacker barely feels it, but your opponents Goblins are now chump blockers.
Also the flavour text is awesome.

who's idea was it to print this? it is simply overpowered. good thing i know of few wight mana acell so my metagames 3-5 turn win will most likely not seem much of this card. totally powns my infinite sliver combo though.

Note that it doesn't say that the effect applies only to your opponent. Your creatures are damaged as well. Definitely not a card for WW, and U/W would probably just as soon do a board sweep for the mana, but this card may find a home. Combos well with Hedron-Field Purists maybe.

In Archenemy anyone? "Oh you all have creatures? Well there not all going to attack, who's will" Anything that causes internal player conflict is great :)
Might be cool with Swans of Bryn Argoll, provided you keep the air clean for them. Bonus if you attack with more than one (guess that would be pretty ridiculous..).

I played this with Powerstone Minefield as the Archenemy. I eventually had 2 of these and 2 Powerstone Minefields out and ended up winning the game.

I was waiting for a better version of Caltrops to pop up. This thing can be very handy - especially against token decks.
Ohhh this would go really great with Godhead of Awe in play! Solid 4/5

Quick question... Would this work good with nacatl war-pride or... would it pretty much kill all of the tokens and the original?

@ __Silence__:
As long as you didn't attack with 3 or more creatures including Nacatl War-Pride, Lightmine Field will not deal the lethal 3 damage to each creature named Nacatl War Pride, given that you put Lightmine's effect on the stack above the token generation. Lightmine resolves, pinging all your attackers, and then tokens get put into play tapped and attacking (an action that thankfully doesn't trigger Lightmine all over again).

Combos very nicely with Rage Nimbus. If your opponent sees this and suddenly becomes more cautious, you can force a lot of his creatures (or all of them, depending on how many he has and how much mana you have) to attack. Even if Lightmine Field doesn't kill all of his attackers, at least they'll be softened up for your blockers, or you can Smite them. Take that, Elves! You also might consider using other red creature-control cards as well, such as Traitorous Instinct, Act of Treason and Conquering Manticore.

This plus leyline of sanctity plus asceticism pretty much makes you untouchable. I play it in a defender deck, Im a fortress. hoses everything im worried about, mainly token swarms that I can't stop and infect, cuz walls cant do anything but die to infect creatures. Enjoy spending the rest of the game ramping up to genesis waving for 26 and dropping the three legendary eldrazi.

One thing I still struggle with is when effects are redundant or cumulative. If I have two Lightmine Fields on the battlefield and one creature attacks, does that creature take one damage or two?
monogreentramp

stupid question- is the damage dealt to the creatures before blockers are declared?
Woodsoul

Combos wonderfully well with Godhead of Awe. Just pop both into play, and anti nearly any creature.
@Duddits: It will take 2 damage as both copies of Lightmine Field trigger when the creature attacks, so this is ***ulative :-) @monogreentramp: Yes the damage is dealt before blockers are declared. @wormfang: Dolmen Gate would be useless because Lightmine Field deals non-combat damage
Haterade for exarch twin. Personally though, would perfer Rakdos Charm for the hilarious effect though.
Other than being a hate card for twin, seems like it could really be a thorn in the side of elf decks, token decks, goblin decks, or any deck that wants to win through creature swarm.
Solid hate card. 4/5

Play it with Exalted cards to never suffer its drawback. Put 4 out at once, and your opponent will surely be unable to attack, while you'll be fine.
Was playing 3-way EDH when an opponent pulled this turn 4. Since we were both playing red or red/black, we had no answers to it. The guy playing red had a Krenko, mob boss deck so he was basically kicked out of the game. I eventually got a hamletback goliath out with some mimic vat shenanigans and beat face, but up until then the game was static.

However, it puts Hell's Thunder in range of a Lightning Bolt, and it's a decent sideboard card in general...
