I felt lucky when I opened two Krenko, Mob Bosses in a row... ...now I'm just sad...

That's a nice Deceiver Exarch/Splinter Twin deck you've got there.
It'd be a shame if something were to ... happen ... to it.

It also shrinks the Frog Lizards you may or may not be giving to your opponent. :D

I don't feel like token decks are in this much needing to be nerfed

So, about those Lingering Souls tokens of yours...yeah. Go ahead, flash it back. I dare you.

Wizards sure are subtle about their hate-cards in gatecrash - with card like this, Skullcrack and Glaring Spotlight

I find it particularly amusing that the art depicts a bunch of ill centaurs... Those populate decks really do go bonkers with the centaurs.

Nice Card for Modern. Beside that one could think they feared G/W/x Token-Decks might become to good.
I hope we won't see a Bitterblossom unban because of this card.

Probably won't play it but I can see why it got printed. G/W token decks are doing pretty well in Standard and it is kind of a pain to catch up to you opponent's Growing Ranks late in the game.

yay! I hate lingering souls a little less now... because I will simply laugh at it now

For same cost as duress you can nix all those silly little tokens. Good show!
Seems like an awesome sideboard choice for a measy black mana actually. Additionally, you can even play it in your main deck when you choose some of the various cards that give tokens to your opponent: Forbidden Orchard, Hunted creatures, Genesis Chamber, and many more.
(...admittedly, Genesis Chamber might not be the best idea, since unfortunately it affects your tokens as well.)

how is this - at time of writing - cumulatively only rated a 3.1? having such a specialized stipulation may be its only true negative - aside from, say, a catch-all like mutilate - but it serves its purpose super efficiently. whereas before i would need curse of death's hold for 5 cmc, this is a great specific alternative for only 1... and it's a freaking enchantment, which is the gift that keeps on giving. this card will even neutralize vraska's ultimate for 1 measly cmc. i subtracted a half star because - while i normally like nils hamm's work - this card's artwork is somewhat of an exception. could have been more a bit more evil. eh. black mass sweeps are like pr0n for me. hosing puny tokens is still better.
I'm not sure why this card was printed. Are token decks really THAT big of a problem? I run a token deck and all someone has to do is run 4 of these in their sideboard and they gain a HUGE advantage over me for just one mana a piece.

Because screw you Splinter Twin. And squirrel decks. And saproling decks.

Because Electrickery, Supreme Verdict, Killing Wave, Cyclonic Rift, Izzet Staticaster and Mizzium Mortars just weren't nuking the tokens quickly enough.

This card got you bummed? Sideboard in Blood Artist and Falkenrath Noble into whatever deck you're running. works best with B/W token decks. Lingering souls now nets you life in addition to hitting for a turn. Going out of standard, Varchild's War-Riders is amused.

Great sideboard card for black to deal with token decks. All tokens get -1/-1 for just one black mana? That's amazing value. It's more specialised than Curse of Death's Hold as it affects only tokens and applies to both players rather than opponent, but it only costs 1 as compared to 5, making it much, much more playable. Depending on how the game goes regarding the use of tokens over the next couple of years, this could become an essential card.

So many people just looking at this as a Token Nerfer...
Every time a creature you control dies.... opponent loses a life, and you gain a life... plus create a 0/0 creature that instantly dies... repeat!
No Blood Artist?... then it's a draw, as this will repeat indefinitely.

Somewhere in Ravnica Krenko, Mob Boss is huddled in a corner and crying.
Amazing side board. Slap one down first turn against weenie decks and the opponent is going to have one hell of a time if they can't nuke it.

I love unique cards like this that don't follow the ordinary set of cards for magic, they just make the game so much more interesting! That said, this card assumes that you are playing against someone who intends on making tokens, and also assumes those tokens wont be 8/8 elementals or something like that. To me, that's a little to limiting to recommended into a deck, though it does provide an excellent sideboard i think (i still im not quite sure what sideboard means in terms of magic. Is it one of those spells you put only 1 or 2 of in a deck just in case your primary combo is failing? Please correct me if im wrong).

The art should have had dead birds littering the ground instead... -1/-1 doesn't really kill centaurs so easily :)

Twilight Drover? Anybody? Nobody? I thought SOMEONE would have mentioned that by now.
To be honest, I didn't believe it when some guy autocard linked this. I thought he was like listening to some Beastie Boys and playing a Confusion in the Ranks.

This card is just too good. If Curse of Death's Hold is 5 cmc, how is it fair that this card is only 1 cmc? -1/-1 to all creature tokens is not nearly as specialized of an effect as people think too. Tons of planeswalkers abilities are putting creature tokens into play and many powerful modern cards (such as Avenger of Zendikar) are completely stifled by it.
This card is, in fact, so good that when you start to actually build around it you end up with a beast of a deck. Forbidden Orchard anyone? Throw the likes of Blood Artist, Blood Seeker, and Suture Priest with Mercy Killing as your removal and you have the makings of a truly competitive deck.

Try this on for size.
