I really like this art.

The fact that this is a 3/4 is a little odd, but at least it is Lightning Bolt-proof

@Ferlord, that "odd" body ensures that opponents using Blue's nemesis color will have to zap it at least twice. (Well, four times if we're being literal). They have to spend their own turn taking care of this bastard of a card instead of clearing your field on your turn.

Anyway, what an incredible card. One of the biggest wrenches you can throw in any enemy's plans, especially in the blue mirror match. With Teferi, you save your mana to counter their spells like normal. But wait! Instead of untapping and going on your way like normal, just throw your creature of choice on their turn so it's ready to beat face and/or activate its ability on yours.

All attached to one of Magic's greatest heroes. An auto-include for this set. 5/5 every time.

The only "recent" legend that I didn't mind them putting in the set, only because flavorwise he was a planeswalker. You don't get any more legendary than that, especially with those abilities tied in.

The one piece of new FtV:L artwork that isn't obnoxiously terrible. It's actually pretty sweet!

Honestly, it might just be because I remember it so fondly, but I actually prefer Teferi's old art. This one's good as well, but the original had something epic about it that I feel the artist just didn't capture in this one.

Like what Evil Tactics said, probably the only one of the "newer" cards that I approve of being added... To be honest I was pumped for a reprint of Jeska or Seton, but whatever works!

Making me a solid Grand Arbiter Augustin IV deck and he's going straight into it. I bet they'd get pretty ***ed off with the arbiter as general and throwing down Teferi and Propaganda and his twin brother from another color, Ghostly Prison

Feferi, Mage of Z)(alfir, glub glub.

Crappy Homestuck puns aside, Teferi is awesome, especially for a wizard deck. There seem to be wuite a few wizards at 2BlueBlueBlue.

cast two phyrexian dreadnoughts. abilities go on the stack. sac one to the other. you get a 12/12 trampler for two mana.

Ever since I read homestuck, I keep getting teferi's name mixed up with terezi.

still a great card, though.

Suspend? Cascaded spells? Ripple? Isochron scepter spell?

Teferi says NO to your shenanigans. None of those will resolve.

The classic guy to end of turn someone with. And the best? Tutorable with mystical teachings. This guy is not the best creature ever, but he's the ultimate silver bullet to many decks. He destroys control decks like it's nobody's business.

This is ironically the FTV: Legends card that makes me saddest. Not mad at all- just sad.

They showed THE best card in the set first, and literally ever since the 2nd-15th cards, I got less, and less, and less excited. Teferi set the bar so high, and I THOUGHT he was going to be the 'average' bar of the set's quality. Which would have been FREAKIN SWEET and guaranteed us a set truly worthy of the name "From the Vault: Legends"

Even if From the Vault: Relics, From the Vault: Dragons, and From the Vault: Exiled's tradition is redeemed by From the Vault: Realms, of the Five Vaulted Sets so far, "Legends" had by far the coolest name and the most potential. And they dropped the ball. And part of it was because they included no cards that were particularly more 'oh WOW-inspiring' than Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir.

He's a great card, and a great guy, and he earned his spot. But he deserved to have better companions to share the Vault with.

just use it lik my Animar, Soul of ElementsEDH deck does by using Seedborn Muse, Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur, Animar, Soul of Elements and of course Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir , my advice for a card draw engine is something whitch lets you draw cards by activated ability ( whitout "tap" in its cost)
, myself i use Azure Mage which is pretty good for this goal if your pretty new like me ( i play since scars of mirrodin but i got a lot of expirience because my parents own a store i play magic weekly whit my friends, i like to look around on gatherer and around 6 new decks each 1/2 week)

Anyone notices how this guy is, ability-wise, the ancestor of the Phyrexian Praetors? A beneficial effect to you and a mirroring negative effect on the enemy.

Teferi is an amazing character. Rivaled only by Urza and Tezzeret (Huge fan of blue walkers). And I just wanted to be the first to say that with Teferi on your side, even miracles can't save your opponents. 5/5 for being one of the Vorthos and Johnny cards of all time. I mean this guy controls control better than any other card ever. The only blue card I might love more is Mind Over Matter. You rock Teferi, you are the mythic standard.

if your opponent has teferi out on the board and you have Hypersonic dragon out on the board.
Everything you have has flash thanks to Teferi's last ability.

So say you cast a spell, only to have it counter spelled. If you we're to flash in Teferi at this point, would the counter spell not resolve because it could never have been cast as an instant?

This guy actually works quite well with Soulbond creatures. Considering their strongest drawback is that if one part gets nuked there's a solid chance you'll lose the other, being able to flash down another creature to get whatever bonus just got killed makes it so much more efficient. I like thinking about how I could use him with a Wolfir Silverheart.

Given it is a 5 cost card, having Faerie Imposter as a Flash card, makes me want to run this in a Faerie deck just for the lol'z. Makes Faeries so Spammable after turn 5, it's not even funny.

Kind of makes me wish they would make a 1BlueBlue enchantment that says 'Creature Cards in your hand have flash' without being a 3/4 Poker, and the Sorcery Restriction this card has, cuz I would use that in an heartbeat over this card... Still, its the only card I've seen that give my Non-flash faeires flash...

Knowledge Pool.

To clarify, Teferi makes it such that opponents may only cast spells at sorcery speed; that is, during their turn and on an empty stack. Whenever they cast a spell, Knowledge Pool kicks in, their spell is exiled, and they cannot cast another spell exiled by Knowledge Pool because it would no longer be at sorcery speed.

Unless an opponent has a game-winning board, or can cast something game-winning from anywhere but their hand, you have won.

If no one ever responds to Timmyforever's posts, he will stop trying to be so ridiculous. Let's just ignore him. Unless someone knows where he lives, in that case we should punch him.

Combos well with Teferi's Veil. Mix in Whispersilk Cloak and you have a near unkillable creature.

In a control deck I put together I run two Teferi and two seedborn muse. I must say, being able to completely tap out during your turn without having to worry about anything in response is just about the best feeling I can describe.

When my uncle first read his flavor text he said 'Oh, hes an Air Force guy' trololol

in any case, this guy is a total bad-ass, and one of my favorite blue cards ever.

I remember getting hold of a couple of Time Spiral boosters, about a year back. Opened them eagerly since there's a lot of rather awesome cards from that block. Secretly, I wanted this guy, but didn't hold out hope.

I pulled Lim-Dul the Necromancer and Thelon of Havenwood, and a FOIL Eron the Relentless. Very chuffed with such cool rares.

Then this guy came out of the last pack. The last pack, and it was right there.

Time Spiral was good to me. For that glorious act of bounty alone I give this guy a 5/5.

They really didn't phrase the third ruling very clearly. It seems to me that if it's your main phase, and no one's played a spell yet, you totally could use an effect like Isochron Scepter. But that's the point of the second ability, isn't it? So that you can use flash to tie up opponent's turns.

@evenblackerlotus

first 2 abilities cancel out, only 3rd ability remains.

sadly when this happens it gives both parties a "pants down with a cold north breeze" feeling.
