Let's all be clear on the reason this exists: Kozilek, Butcher of Truth EDH!

Draw 8 cards is already worth it, but then add in Annihilator 8 and you can just giggle all day at your opponents dismay.

In all seriousness, this will be a great card with a lot of fun interactions. 5/5

CMC isn't 0, requires you to pay 2 for the copy AND makes you tap it, meaning it's only one use unless you untap it through other means or at next turn.

Well shit. I just realized this gives our lovable(read: power creeped) murderfriend Wurmcoil Engine FOUR pieces after he dies. That's... somewhat terrifying. Don't even get me started on the concept of multiple resonators.

Just to clear it up ahead of time, this will NOT work with Doubling Season and other similar cards, because those are replacement effects. It will, however, work with stuff like Kalonian Hydra.

As somebody who is actually building a Kozilek, Butcher of Truth EDH deck, I pretty much lost it when I realized what this card could do.

Yeah, I'll draw 8 for 12. From abilities. In Colorless. Because why not.

There are a bunch of other fun things to double as well. Apart from practically anything on an Eldrazi, there's Skullclamp, Rings of Brighthearth, Mirrorworks, Spine of Ish Sah . . . though, copying Duplicant's ETB trigger is going to need a ruling . . .

Combos with Lord of Tresserhorn.

Just kidding. 5 stars from me. Dozens of Commander/EDH decks will love this. Examples:
- Bladewing the Risen
- Hazezon Tamar
- Prime Speaker Zegana
- Sharuum the Hegemon

Well, and hundreds of other good combo targets. This card should be mythic. It has a unique interesting effect. It's not just some regular card we already had a dozen times slightly beefed up and turned mythic.

Step 1: Use this to copy the imprint trigger on Isochron Scepter, exiling Final Fortune and Angel's Grace.
Step 2: Take infinite turns.

(According the updated comprehensive rules (607.3) you can cast both copies when you activate the scepter)

I absolutely love this card, it plus Young Pyromancer is so sweet. I do have a questions if someone can answer it. Chandra, the Firebrand's -2 ability is a "when" you cast your next instant or sorcery you may copy it and choose new targets for the copy. Can you copy it twice with this card?

Vakyoom
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
@Jvillene - At first glance, yes... you should be able to copy that spell twice. Since the active you mentioned on Chandra sets up a Triggered effect you simply have to wait until you cast your next instant/sorcery and while it's on the stack, the triggered ability goes on the stack after it. You then Copy the triggered ability with the resonator card(putting it on top of the others spells on the stack) and it all resolves backwards like normal, netting you 3 casts total for however much you paid for the original cast.

Strionic Resonator.

Legends had it that one day you would reveal yourself.
And they were true.

Until this day, your name was unbeknownst among the people.
Yet ever since the early days of Alpha, the visionaries would fortell your existence.

They told about the new ways you would open for us, and some would passionately imagine the abundance acquired through your unthinkable power, while others would scold the heresy and deny their words.

But your followers were faithful, and they grew with every new set given to us.
We knew the day of your arrival would come, and even the nonbelievers could no longer foolishly deny it ever since Rings of Brighthearth adumbrated your prospective arrival.

Since then, our wise leader enthusiastically initiated a glorious reception to adequately prepare for your arrival.

Today, we shall welcome you with reverent dignity, and eagerly present worthy decks where you shall find great and honoring use, to unleash the hidden power of the multitude of triggered abilities.

Just because I can, I'm going to shove this into a prototype portal, then animate the first one I poop out (possibly with Karn, Silver Golem), then equip it with Illusionist's Bracers. Then I'm going to voltaic key the Portal and copy the voltaic key ability with Rings of Brighthearth, then I'm going to use this resonator to copy the Rings' ability and the Bracers' ability will double up the resonator's ability. Once I have then allowed the resonator and prototype portal to untap once I will activate the portal again, and then copy the portal creation ability with the Rings, and copy the rings with the untapped resonator, which will in turn have it's ability doubled by the bracers.

I will continue to do this until I run out of mana.

Yes it's going to take a crapload of mana.

I don't care.

I'm still going to do it.

Yeah, there's a large number of options for this card obviously.

- One of the most overlooked: Cantripping noninstant nonsorcery cards (such as Elvish Visionary) can be milked for card advantage. Double points for evoked Mulldrifters.
- This is a must have in any flicker deck, letting you abuse ETB/LTB triggers
- What the hell happens if you target Oblivion Ring's ETB trigger? Does the copied trigger get affected by the ring's LTB trigger as well? Does the universe implode because said LTB trigger says "THE removed card" and there isn't only one??
- Landfall!
- If you duplicate Persist/Undying triggers, you end up with two copies of "return it to the battlefield". If you sacrifice it between the resolution of those, does it come back again?
- Celestial Mantle, heh.

Something about the fact that this has an activate ability that copies triggered abilities while Rings of Brighthearth has a triggered ability that copies activated abilities... well it just seems right to me.

It makes me want to activate an ability, copy it with the rings, have this copy the rings' ability, and then copy this thing's ability with the rings.

I'm afraid that's actually incorrect according to the rules. Laboratory Maniac is a replacement effect, not a triggered ability (so it can't be copied with this), and even if you manged to copy a game-winning effect, as long as the two win effects are parts of different abilities (so in the case of a normal copy, but things like splice are an exception), one would resolve before the other, winning (and ending) the game, meaning the other ability could never resolve.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Melek so far. It may be a bit mana costly, but three copies of something like Blast of Genius? That will get very devastating very fast.

And there's Talrand, Sky Summoner. With enough spells, especially Talrand's Invocation, you could have an army of drakes within a few turns.

I love how many possibilities there are for a card like this. And I can't wait to start exploring them.

Sen Triplets in multiplayer. Not the most effective use of the resonator, but still funny.
Also, the flavor text author should be notified that the "magic of great power" necessary to use the tines could just as easily produce (but not so much as fire) a Cyclopean Snare.

It's been a while since I've seen a card that I could ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING with :3

A lot of the 'for Johnny' cards seem to be "Silly Spells with Johnny- the part of the show where Johnny comes out and casts, a Silly Spell".

I love Knowledge Pool and how NUTS it gets. But what I REALLY loved was PUSHING the Boundaries of what appeared to be Knowledge Pool's "Purpose". I Gathered EVERY card that looked kinda Silly like that card.

HERE is a card I can do Another Such Trick With! THIS card does not specifically want to be "Silly". Instead, this card VERY much wants to be "Copy-y".

So first of all, to PUSH Strionic Resonator's BOUNDARIES, you just Have to always Combine it with Rings of Brightheart!

After that, I think you can probably just take a glance at Knowledge Pool lists, take a look at those two cards and just start thinking "COPY ALL THE THINGS!!!!"

You may want to try Mirror Universe. You may want to try Lich's Mirror. You may want to try Hall of Mirrors with Riku of Two Reflections! :D

You may want instead to use Magus of the Mirror. You may also want Chandra, the Firebrand. And WHILE we're Copying Stupid Things, why don't we bring out Big Ol' Bolas and try getting DOUBLE CRUEL ULTIMATUMS?! >:D

I actually like this card a lot more than Knowledge Pool, because I think there's a chance to bring back some Actual Johnniness. Johnnies almost lost their way with Knowledge Pool. Y'all need to work harder and realize that the only reason we wanted to Make the Game About Being Silly was because Knowledge Pool ASKED us too.

THIS card is asking us to do something DIFFERENT that we can probably actually win some games with! :D

To a Johnny, Each Card Asks a Question. The Question is-- What Will We Do Today? Its like Each Card is a Whole Color unto itself. When you want to BREAK something, make it BONKERS, you have to align yourself to THAT CARD. Just because Knowledge Fool was fun to align to, doesn't mean the answer is always "Align to Knowledge Pool". Wizards was MAINLY giving me cards that looked like More Knowledge Pool, though! LoL....

for the Core Set Rares, I mean. The Blocks have done better of course...but few had such POTENTIAL as this one!

Drool. As a long-time Johnny Combo Deck player, I'll take them with some Elite Arcanist and Illusionist's Bracers and literally any number of awesome instants in standard, maybe some Hidden Strings for twiddling the Arcanist. I was looking for some place to slam some Indestructibility. Oh hey there, Banisher Priest and Azor's Elecutors. Almost forgot about you guys. That Sin Collector just got a bit more annoying. Better be packing enchant removal for Assemble the Legion since it's going to be moving even faster now. Even Fathom Mage seems cool with Strionic on the board. Archaeomancer -- yes please. That Liliana's Reaver just got uglier. This is broken in standard JCD. AND I'LL TAKE THEM ALL IN FOIL, SIR.

I give this a 3/5 because my friend claims he can keep using it to activate his Diluvian Primordial ability even after it has been played he can use it to activate it the turn he summons it but after that its just total bs. (Ps he usually traumatize 's me before summoning it and since I use a orzhov lifelink archangel of thune deck it can get pretty nasty). If he can't do that then I give it 5/5 cause now I can add 2 +1/+1 counters or hit twice as hard with my sanguine bond + debt to the debtless combo all protected with silence . :P

Oh mama... Cipher. You can choose to copy the "whenever so and so creature deals damage", so all of a sudden I'm milling six with my Paranoid Delusions, or crapping 1/1's each turn with Call of the Nightwing. Made a deck with those cards and Mirko Vosk. Things get mighty tasty when I equip a Fireshrieker to him too. How it plays out (in ideal circumstances):

T5: Mirko
T6: Play/equip Shrieker to him, swing, they reveal 8 lands and dump everything
T7: Resonator, activate it up to two times, he/she reveals 16 lands and dumps everything again

And, if I'm lucky, I'll have a Consuming Aberration out to polish the game off. Fun, fun times.

You can use Quicken to cast Hidden Strings during the upkeep step, thus being able to use Strionic Resonator's ability twice (or more) to copy Azor's Elocutors ability before it resolves.

If you can figure out a way to further activate Strionic Resonator and copy Azor's Elocutors triggered ability, you can win the game in a single upkeep step.
Am I wrong?

For example:
If you control two Strionic Resonators and enough lands, then a quickened Hidden Strings can untap both of them and copy Azor's Elocutors ability an straggering 4 times

How does this work with Wake Thrasher? My thought is the Thrasher gets +1/+1 for each untapped permanent twice.

What about Vorinclex's ability - would I get two extra mana from each land I tap, or two mana only from one land I tap?

Thanks for not flaming me! Just catching up on a few years' missed Magic. (17 of them)

@MGKetjak

Wake Thrasher triggers for each individual permanent untapping so you'll only be able to target one trigger, netting it just +1/+1.

Vorinclex would follow the same logic, but his triggers are mana abilities, so they'll never be on the stack for you to target them.

Say I have an oblivian ring on the battlefield and my opponent has this. They destroy the o-ring and use this to copy the leave the battlefield trigger. Then after one of the triggers has resolved the permanent returned is exiled again. Does it return because of the second trigger.
Syrtees
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
@yesennes Well for starters they aren't allowed to copy a trigger they don't own. I also fail to see why the permanent would return to exile if the leave effect of Oblivion Ring is what's being copied.

Tossing one or two of these into a deck can create some really cool interactions.

Each of the Ordeals from Theros have two separate triggered abilities, so you can use the Resonator on either of those abilities. Using the Resonator on the first ability will simply get you a bonus +1/+1 counter a turn early, but if you wait for the second ability of any Ordeal to trigger, you can create some very powerful effects.

Ordeal of Heliod (Gain 20 Life)
Ordeal of Thassa (Draw 4 cards)
Ordeal of Erebos (Opponent discards 4 cards)
Ordeal of Purphoros (Deal 3 damage to two target creatures or players)
Ordeal of Nylea (Put 4 basic lands onto the battlefield tapped)

Each of these combos can be executed as early as turn 4 without any mana ramping.

Big thumbs up to WotC for making a card that allows for so much creativity in the game.
