Off-Color Buffing, Card Advantage, and Uncommon rarity all at the low-cost of 1U? I'll take a playset.

I'm really enjoying the flavor - with heroic the mere assumption of the ordeal gives an effect - then the ordeal continues to help make my creature stronger until at last strength leads to - in the case of blue - wisdom. -The buffing doesn't feel out of flavor here, simply human.
Sure would be a pity if I sacrificed this to Perilous Research. Oh no.

I feel like the ordeals as a cycle are getting a lot of hype for no real reason. I do like this one, though. If you can get two of these out, you'll be drawing four cards before you know it.

If you are just going to use this card for its last effect there is a much better alternative that gets you more cards and doesn't have to be destroyed by sacrifice. Hatching Plans

Simic creatures are practically designed to go through ordeals at ludicrous speed. The Golgari just let their dead friends do almost all the work for them.
Seriously. This cycle was practically designed for evolve and scavenge creatures.

@Fenix- I think the green put two lands into play is better. but this is very close.

Reid Duke did pretty well with GW auras at the player championships last year (2013). If the archetype were to enter into UW or Bant territory, this would likely be one of the cards to make that the case. Less effective than something like Hyena Umbra initially, on its second turn it starts paying for itself, and on the third turn you obviously get some very handy gas.
The UW/Bant archetypes can obviously also make use of Invisible Stalker, who is a handy assistant to have on the team. Getting access to counterspells is also a major boon, especially when Theros introduced Swan Song - and a 2/2 in the face of an aura'd monstrosity equates to a virtually non-existent drawback.
