Ok we all know this isnt a competitive card, but the flavour of it is amazing! I just like the idea of winning with this in a casual game by when i get to 5 FILIBUSTER counters (best counter ever btw) just standing up, shouting THIS IS OVER!!! and storming off. That's why i have already made a deck around it. It is also a new win con which is cool in itself. 3/5 for actual usefulness and 5/5 for flavour and hilarity, so 4/5 from me i think.

Given the flavor of this, I think it might be a good idea for a player damaging the Elocutors' controller to punctuate it with "OBJECTION!".

Nice card. It's just sad that proliferate leaves standard with this coming in. These whould've been bff's :( But also, a pretty funny card that might make the turbofog a competetive deck :)

A pity this guy ain't no legend. Would be an interesting commander. For constructed it's too slow, for limited it's decent (mostly because it got at least a p/t of 3/5). Funny in casual decks though. Just pack enough extra turn spells.

Little known multiversal fact: The temporal energies that caused the naturally occurring Paradox Haze phenomena on Dominaria were later adapted for use by Azorius Senate sittings to artificially extend sitting time so that the senate could cram five times as much bureaucracy into one sitting.

Should have been a draw-the-game condition instead of a win condition, since a filibuster can only hold the status quo rather than pass new laws.

filibuster counters should have had "remove a filibuster counter from Azor's Elocutors: prevent all combat damage that would be dealt to you this turn" It would have made Elocuters a much much better card, and more flavorful.

@ Goatllama

I see what you did there

Otherwise what if you could get this into your graveyard, bring out a spirit token copy with Seance, Populate it with Rootborn Defenses, and make it Hexproof with Drogskol Captain, and then make your first Drogskol Captain Hexproof with a second Drogskol Captain. Then you could stall the game with Sphere of Safety and Martial Law...

This cards could read this way : "Whenever you win the game, you win the game". Don't tell me no one will have a removal or a bounce during 3-5 turns. If they don't react during that time, well, you don't need this card to win the game.

Grand Arbiter Augustin IV: "When in the Course of Ravnica events it becomes necessary for one Guild to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with one another and to assume among the powers of the world, the Equal but More Equal station to which the Guildpact entitles them, a decent respect to the opinions of citizens requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation."

Argus Kos, Wojek Veteran: "So this is a Hostile Takeover? F***. You. Blue."

Augustin IV: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all Colors are created equal, that they are endowed by Richard Garfield, Ph.D. with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Tinker, Jace, the Mind Sculptor, and Snapcaster Mage."

Argus Kos: >:(

Augustin IV: "That to secure these rights, the Color Pie is instituted among R&D, deriving their just powers from Mark Rosewater, — That whenever any Color becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of Blue to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new metagames, laying its foundations on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Complete Card Advantage and Domination of the Metagame. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Pro Decks long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all Mythic Rares must be Strictly Better Than Everything, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Combo evinces a Design Team to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to Tutor up a Banhammer, and to provide Brand New Broken $#^! to replace them, effectively nullifying the Ban."

Argus Kos: Right. Worldfire.

SlowMoRiot
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
I guess you could Time Warp, then Reverberate; but that's a pretty strong 7 drop anyway. Lightning Greaves or Swiftfoot Boots could help protect him. Ring of Xanthrid would give him regenerate for (2), so he could die and keep his Filibuster counters. Safe Passage, counterspells, and Faith's Shield could help protect him for a few turns. Supreme Verdict. A Ring of Thune and Ring of Evos Isle would pump his toughness twice an upkeep.

All of this sounds like too much work. Azor's Elocutors reminds me of Wit's End; a card that can win the game if your opponent is controlled or in trouble already. That being said, I could drop one in my "UW Fly Time" sideboard, if my opponent lacks creature removal I'll bring him in. It's a creative card.

I think the most awesome part about this is that it's 3/5.

I didn't know 3 old guys were 1/1.66's. I'm not exactly sure why they're so tough.

And obviously, Win-con. Weirdly, if you have enough stuff to stop stuff, you can win. I think this was printed as a secondary win-con for Turbofog, besides Luminarch Ascension. Seriously, once you got the isochron Scepter with Silence in it, Whatcha going to do?

Methinks MaRo helped design this card, since he is obsessed with alternate win-cons.
JaxsonBateman
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
I love my alternate win cons, so I'm a fan of this card. Because of its simplistic nature, at times it can be considered easier to build around than others (like Felidar Soverign and Mayael's Aria), as all you need to do is enforce control for it to go off. At other times though, that simplicity works against it - a card like Felidar can win much more easily in a solid lifegain deck, and often wins via the alternate the turn after he comes out. Mayael's can win very quickly depending on what creatures you have out (ie. Mosswort Troll/Ageless Entity).

However, proliferate certainly does help out the Elocutors - and it even comes on a very good card in Tezzeret's Gambit. +1 CA at 3 mana and 3 life is only slightly worse than Sign in Blood and can be played in any color. The counter is quite relevant if you have the Elocutors out as it speeds up the game by a turn.

Beyond that, you're already playing white or blue, two of the best control colors, so setting up and then winning with the Elocs shouldn't be too tricky. Personally I have mine in a monowhite deck; Mother of Runes comes out early to defend and protect them once they come out, Wall of Reverence helps nullify fast aggro and offsets Tezzeret's Gambit, and then my bazillion other control cards like Wrath of God and Oblivion Ring keep things... well, under control. ^^

Pursuant to subsection 3.1(4) of Richard's Rules of Order, during the upkeep of each participant in this game of the Magic: The Gathering® trading card game (hereafter known as "PLAYER"), that PLAYER performs all actions in the sequence of previously added actions (hereafter known as "ACTION QUEUE"), in the order those actions were added, then adds another action to the end of the ACTION QUEUE. All actions must be simple physical or verbal actions that a player can perform while sitting in a chair, without jeopardizing the health and security of said PLAYER.
If any PLAYER does not perform all the prescribed actions in the correct order, sacrifice Bureaucracy and said PLAYER discards his or her complement of cards in hand

I love this card because it gives your otherwise slow control deck a win option. I play it with several counterspells, Silence and Fatigue. Nice way to end the game in 5 turns when your opponent is locked down and can't do anything. Keeps a game from running longer than it needs to.

This card works wonderfully with planeswalkers- I like Elspeth Tirel particularly. The other player has to decide whether they would rather have growing planeswalkers or filibuster counters. A few Safe Passages make this all the more irritating.

Here's a really sneaky rat-b*st*rd tactic:

Play Azor's Elocutors in a Zedruu, the Greathearted deck. Target an opponent you really want the other players to attack and give control of the Elocutors to them. Suddenly every other opponent really wants to take them out, else they'll win the game automatically thanks to the Elocutors. Be extra sneaky and include a few permanent retrieval effects so that in case the Elocutors' controller doesn't die fast enough or is about to die, you can still yoink your Elocutors back and reap the rewards. Some bounce effects are also good to protect the Elocutors from removal.

Political Puppets indeed.

I'm basing a deck around this combo:
1) Get a Vorel out.
2) Get a Gilder Bairn.
3) Get out an Experiment Kraj and get counters on your Vorel and Gilder Bairn.
4) You now have an infinite tap combo on Kraj, although it does cost some good mana. Target Azor's Elocutors until there are over 5 counters on it.
5) GG no RE.
