Now that's how straight-up life gain should work: situational, but gets you a lot.

This cycle + Claws of Gix may be a very weird Legacy deck in the making.

This card seems pretty good in Selesnya-based Hexproof decks. The +1/+1 buffs up your Gladecover Elf, the 10 life lets you race against aggro.

Not exactly the Healing Salve of the cycle, but not very exciting.

@mdbaldw well, yeah...if he has 3 counters on him already when* he's swinging.

This card is actually very frightening. With monstrous/heroic alone, this can be 10 life for 2 at sorcery speed. Or it can do that AND buff a creature. I wouldn't be surprised to see this sided in standard against aggro, or even IN aggro as a life buff.

Apparently Minotaur meat taste as good as beef that is why you gain 10 life

This does a good job of building up the mini-quest feel for the player.

Would this be good in a soul sisters deck? It's a lot of life for only 2 mana, but it's so easy to get 2-for-oned if someone kills the creature.
What if there are three on a creature and the creature attacks. What happens? Confusion? Judge?

If this is going to be an uncommon, it should only be a life gain of 5.
for mdprier: it says 3 or more counters. read the card!

T1: Trained Caracal T2: Attach this to Caracal, swing for 2 T3: Vizkopa Guildmage, swing for 3 with Caracal T4: Use Vizkopa's second ability, swing for 4, pop Ordeall, gain 14 life as your opponent loses 14

Put this on an opponent's creature, preferably one with it's own ordeal. They get a counter or two, you get 10 life. Unless they choose not to attack, in which case hey! Guard Duty! I'd say it's fun in casual at least.

Cradle of Vitality Oh he already had 3 counters from previous lifegains? Take another 10 before you go to that combat damage step.

Play this on a creature with Heroic and then use Strionic Resonator to ad one extra counter during attack or later, gain 20 life! If you have a Sanguine Bond out in play at The same time, GG!

Statistics Trivia: With Ordeal of Purphoros, this makes a pair from a 'vertical cycle'. It features the so far greatest damage vs life-ratio with 1 : 3.33 .
I've had fun using this with Vizkopa Guildmage second's ability - it's a hilarious, (figuratively) cheap instant kill when this is sacrificed and you can pay her ability twice. Ajani's Pridemate works excellent with them in a lifegain deck.
Like all the Ordeals, Clockwork Beetle can also make this go off immediately.
If you want to go green, Ageless Entity seems like the most obvious, since it can help fulfill it and gets crazy huge from it. However, what's probably much better is Voracious Wurm, which becomes a 12/12 two-drop or even greater when you cast it after saccing the Ordeal.

Alas, this does not work perfectly with Sun Titan/Bruna. The attack brings back the Ordeal, but it doesn't get triggered, so you need multiple in the graveyard if you want one every turn.

Is THAT enough lifegain for you?
