Best art on old card. CMC is too expensive to mainboard, though.

Additional gravy for my Wolf-Run-Ramp-Hate deck. Not exactly Stone Rain, but what the hey...

I'll always run Pillage over this in Classic/Legacy, but this does have something going for it: it's splashable, and it can be played in modern, where Pillage cannot.

@lorendorky What are you talking about? This was just out in Zendikar. That was all of two blocks ago.
This card is better now than it was in Zendikar because people won't be pulling crazy lands trying to trigger landfall, but I still think it'll be rated lower than it's previous printing. Red is getting a little bit of love in this block and this card just looks crummy in comparison.

It's really disappointing how this and Maw of the Mire turned out to be crappy LD spells with really slick art. I'm not saying LD or artifact kill is useless, but excellent art should always be slapped on cards that are actually worth putting in a deck.

Jesus Christ finally... it's no Pillage of course but mono red needs and deserves this effect in std.
edit: what I mean is red deserves a versatile "removal" spell even if it's overcosted. This is red's Naturalize.

Could Land Destruction resurface in standard? Look at ghost quarter....
Now if only they'd re-print pillage. :/

I'm honestly not sure why this card gets so much hate. It's actually fairly useful for a late draft pick -- it can be boarded in to kill a color splash OR an artifact, and gets that versatility for only one more mana than the beloved Stone Rain. It's also more splashable than Pillage and Aftershock, though the latter also kills creatures that are too big to burn out. But in my cube there really aren't that many huge creatures anyway, so I'm content to run Demolish for now.
And this is the version I run because that art is frickin' SWEET.

Seriously, Wizards? I know you're afraid of land destruction, but you printed Cavern of Souls. As a control player, having this be our best answer is legitimately depressing.
The land part could screw someone if they are landlocked. It could also take out a nonbasic like gavony township. It could color screw them. The artifact part could also come in hand for obvious reasons.
But with the above considering, to risky to run in the mainboard especially when the popular strategy is creatures + attacking.

Land destruction has lost its flare, in my eyes. None of these cards seem worth it any longer; I usually use these for the artifact destruction, actually.
