That flavor text would be very suggestive quoted out of context.

One can never have enough instant "edicts" in their black decks.

So... Consuming vapors cost one more, was sorcery speed, and a rare because you could play it...

Twice?

Makes sense, actually

Oh that Marella, she loves balls...

Such a great card. Sure, it loses value the more creatures your opponent has in play, but if they're slow to build up a board or you've just used a Wrath of God, it allows you to be more selective about what gets lost. The lifegain can be sweet as well (isn't any lifegain tacked on to an already good ability sweet?). Usually I just gained 2 life when I cast it at the prerelease, but once I got a Skaab Goliath with it, and as you can imagine, that game was a blowout.

For a moment I wasn't sure how I was going to get my Stromkirk Noble noble past his single Tree of Redemption, but boy did I draw the right card.

Hope they had Circle of Protection. *wink* *wink*

What I would do is change the picture to Fat B. from Austin Powers then flavor text, "Come on, get in my belly!"

Half a Consuming Vapors for {B} less... at instant speed. If it was a sorcery I'd favor Gatekeeper of Malakir.

The instant speed and the low color weight make me think this card is a good choice for multicolored decks.

Apparently vampires really like to eat Tree of Redemption.

MMMM. TREE BLOOD. OM NOM NOM.

Suggestive flavor text, creepy artwork, and all on an effective card - yeah!

Obviously funny when used on stupid big creatures, like Eldrazi.

Auto sideboard..
Even main decked maybe as a two offs.. But this thing here with Geth's Verdict is a blast against irritating hexproof/shroud creatures.. And I'm very sure that in the upcoming sets of Innistrad block, you will need this more often.. Life gain is a plus, not to mention with all X/13 creatures now and maybe more in the upcoming sets will make this even more loved than it is now.. =)

@NeoKoda

Actually, Marella was trying to get her daughter hooked up, and her daughter ended up as a juice box for a vampire because of it. Which is probably more depressing.

"Hmmmm. I live in a world populated with monsters, abominations and vampires, and a suave mysterious guy who I've never seen before has disappeared with my daughter. CLEARLY NOTHING IS WRONG."

If this turns out to be the coming-out party for Cloistered Youth or Reckless Waif, then that vampire is totally screwed.

Actually, that would be a fun plot to a movie. Vampire seduce girl, girl turns out to be a werewolf or monster, girl had tasty vampire nomz, OH THE IRONY.

Not bad for a 3 to cast edict with a life gain but this card is only for sideboarding for those pesky Hexproof creatures. Geth's Verdict is still obviously far superior than this one. Not to mention you got Dismember and Go for the Throat which are the top removal of black. 3/5

I love these various verdicts/edicts for cleaning up what's left behind after my black sun's zenith has hit.

@Lash of Dragonbreath I had respect for your post until that final comment. Now I just hope it was a bad joke..

Flavor text is depressing. Poor Marella, just wanted to make out with her new boyfriend, and got killed for it.

EDIT: SkaerKrow is right. That IS more depressing.

I have it in the side-board. I was using gremlin mines to get rid of etched champion but this seemed less narrow.
Aside from the card's value, I hate the flavor. First of all it's kinda silly to think that vampires and humans could live together in some sort of separate-but-equal dystopia. Aren't the vampires supposed to be the rulers? So why are they sneaking around? Shouldn't they be taking human bitches for their sick twisted harems? Also, why do the humans live in walled villages if all the vamps can just fly anyways?

Solid. I play a 1 of just in case, when you have an open board and they dump a titan it hurts, and the life gain is nice, but it can be pretty bad at times as well. But until you can save some cash for Lily, it aint half bad.

Comparing it against targeted removal:

Pros: gets around shroud/hexproof, indestructibility and regeneration (although Dismember has already taken care of the last two).
Cons: sucks against tokens/weenies, seems not fill removal's primal role (which would be taking care of that one creature causing you problems, not randomly nomming on a creature).

The life gain from this isn't negligible either, even if it only gains you as much as 3-4 life it helps tipping the game in your favor.

And things could have been worse for poor Marella. A vampire had some nomz with her daughter, okay. AT LEAST HE DIDN'T GET HER PREGNANT.
Yeah, my girlfriend dragged me to watch Breaking Dawn (from the Twilight saga).

@Edword22: no, she really did, even though knowing of my (and probably of every person with 2 or more functioning brain cells) blatant despise for sparkly vampires, according to her because "ROBERT PATTINSON IS SO CUTE!!11" or something like that.
We ended breaking up less than two months after that, though.

Great way to make opponents sigh after they thought I couldn't destroy their creatures: I just made them do it themselves. Life gain makes the sighs always longer.

Clearly a reference to The Hunger Games. No matter where I go, I can't seem to get away from it...

Really useful when used alongside Tragic Slip. Then again, what removal isn't?

I'm playing a friend who's running a UW Enchantments deck. He's playing first.
He taps 3 and plays a Geist of Saint Traft, and passes the turn.
I play my third land and pass the turn.
My opponent plays a fourth land, and taps out for a Spectral Flight and two Ethereal Armors. He stares at me, across the board, with his 10/10 flying Geist on the field.
He doesn't understand why I'm grinning ear-to-ear.

This is not the best removal in the world.
This is just a tribute.
