Why back at uncommon? :(

Lord, artifacts tend to be at higher rarities in core sets. Manalith has been the only common artifact since 5th Edition.

Haha, at least we won't be seeing you in drafts as often as we did in New Phyrexia.

We just saw this bucket of bolts, and i hated it every time i saw one. Why bring it back so soon? It still doesn't have the good flavor text, although the text it does have isn't bad exactly.

I for one welcome Phyrexia back into the core set.

HULK... Smelt.

Well, that was anticlimactic.

Not incredible, and certainly lacking a funny children's rhyme

This set sometimes seems like wizards asked all the designer's to be nostalgic and some of them also had alzheimer's.

"Hey guys. Remember Serra Avatar?"

"Aw yeah that was a sweet card. Hey, remember Phyrexian Hulk?"

"Um... We just reprinted that like a year ago..."

"We did not! Put it on the list! And make it uncommon, I don't think the meta-game is ready for a 5/4 6cmc vanilla artifact creature at common yet. "

Yet another card that I am baffled as to why they would reprint it.

Strictly worse than Wurmcoil Engine.

Its not too strong, its not too rare,
It has a hefty cost,
But works as Craw Wurm in my draft
until my foe has lost.

It seems rather out of place that this is the only Phyrexia related card in the entire core set. It looks rather like the proverbial fish out of water without any of its biomechanical horror buddies to tag along.

The only way I see this guy being useful are ways that never seem worth the effort lol

"Woah, woah, woah, this broke the format at Common. Let's get him back to uncommon, fast." -R&D

6 mana is not too expensive a price to pay for a powerhouse artifact creature. Despite the naysayers, this guy is good.

Dear Wizards

Did you guys even glance at this card when making Wurmcoil Engine? Or were you guys lying when you said that weak cards hold back powercreep?

What does Wurmcoil Engine have over this? Only +1/+2, deathtouch, lifelink, Wurmcoil splits in half when it dies... oh, and it costs the same amount of mana.

Yeah. That should clue you into how terrible this card is. Yes, Wurmcoil is a mythic, but this is an uncommon. It shouldn't be that much worse...

How about Stone Golem at common for the core set large artifact creature?

An invasion weapon of ages past

Indeed. This was half-decent ten years ago, but now it just has no place in any environment. It's not even that great in limited, considering the rarity "upgrade".

Advantages compared to Obsi*** Golem (vanilla 4/6):

1 extra power
Goes in Phyrexian decks
Dies to Zzzyxas's Abyss later
Currently in print

Disadvantages compared to Obsi*** Golem:

2 less toughness
Obi*** Golem is censored
Less funny flavor text
Alpha printings are always worth more

Things that are the same as Obsi*** Golem:

Artifact Creature — Golem
Uncommon in most sets
Mostly a core set card
2-word name
Ferlord

So it's got glistening oil in it, huh?

Funny how a metallic construct can't weaponize it as well as a converted elf can.
