Give this guy Unstable Mutation, one BLUE for a +3/+3 and because of his ability he wont get the -1/-1 counters; so 4 for a 5/4 flier basicly lol.
It's pretty cool.
I love this lil guy XD
I give/gave him a 5/5 cause I love him, only use/ would use him in my scarcrow deck but still, I like him LOTS!

Great with Everlasting Torment as well, as that makes it undamageable. Oh, and Cauldron of Souls gives it infinite persist, although that'd destroy it's Unstable Mutation.

"For a while in design we used the text 'CARDNAME cannot be countered.' Then templating told us that some other ability was already using that string of words. My response? Hey, if both 'counter' and 'play' can have multiple meanings, why not full sentences?"

Not worthless against an infect deck. This guy might make a good Extended sideboard card.

Carnifex Demon!... (and yes, Everlasting Torment...) - So now we can't pretend "only good in a shadowmoor environment"... Very good blocker against Infect)

May be useful against infect and wither.
Unfortunately its low p/t makes the card quite hard to use . .

Actually, this guy is amazing against the new infect cards. Unless the infect creature has trample, this guy can stop anything with infect unscathed. And yes, if you're running him in a blue deck, Unstable Mutation in multiples is amazing.

@Lapaire and Savage Brain
Make that Shadowmoor and Scars of Mirrodin.

Infect? It's overpowered, yes, but this won't be quite as good to sideboard as you think, because Pistus Strike. I don't know quite how popular it is, but if I didn't feel awful about running infect, I'd run the crap out of it.

Mikaeus, the Unhallowed and your sacrifice engine of choice, anyone? It's so easy it's not even funny. (Persist creatures also work with him.)

As has already been mentioned Everlasting torment makes this card...well an everlasting torment. It's also colorless (however is fragile to shatter and the like consequently).

This is best in Red though, perhaps even R/B. With cards like Harbinger of night running around and Everlasting torment+pyroclasm.

I may also say that 3 mana, especially 3 colorless mana is not altogether too uncommon for a flying 2 power creature.

... there is no mention in the books of Shadowmoor or Eventide of who actually creates or animates the Scarecrows. Which not only makes them damn creepy, it makes me wonder who this 'Braenna' actually is.

I always loved the Shadowmoor block. And this thing, as well as being creepy, has some useful potential, especially with Mikaeus the Unhallowed.

Actually combos quite well with another scarecrow, Fang Skulkin, if you can make your opponent's creatures black with a card such as Darkest Hour. Effectively impervious then, if you can get the combo off. Otherwise, this card is still good, just not a game winner. But that art work. Creepy, yet very cool!
