Interesting concept... combos with fetch lands for a surprise block

Such a beautiful card when it's rendered so simple like this.

Also, apparently, Dryads like to watch couples make out in the woods.

It's nice to see one of my favorite cards get some actually good art. *Shudders at how bad the original was*

The new art is nice. But what I really love about this rendition is the templating. With the inovation that is the color indicator Dryad Arbor looks so amazingly sleek that I want a copy.

Yes the new art is pretty. HOWEVER, it does not look significantly different from a regular Forest! Especially from across the table of a large multiplayer game where you think your opponent has no untapped blockers...

While I'm on the subject of confusion caused by ambiguous lands, they also need to put the '{T}: add mana' verbage back on basics. Do you know how many times a new player has claimed his Earth Servant or Seismic Strike is bigger than it should be after playing Pyretic Ritual? "But it adds three Mountains to my mana pool!" they say. Why? Because the only thing on a mountain is the {R} symbol. Seriously, Wizards. You took away Mana Burn because new players couldn't understand it. Put back the {T}.

One of my personal favorites.

Some thoughts:

Becomes a Forest Dryad Saproling with Life and Limb.

Becomes an indestructible 1/1 with Terra Eternal.

Playable from the grave with Crucible of Worlds.

Contributes to Forestlove with Dungrove Elder and similar "equal to the number of Forests/lands you control" cards.

It sucks that it doesn't count as a spell. It would be an easy and thematically relevant second creature spell to get all of your Vengevines back.

Anybody else notice that Wizards has started using the "Innistrad dot" instead of saying "NAME is green. I like how this card looks much better now.

@infinight: It's called a color indicator. Transguild Courier has one too. Wonder how it'll look when reprinted.

gotta say, this is a funny card to look at.

Can be a useful card in a Mirrorweave deck. Either turns into something great, or gets you large amounts of extra mana, while cutting your opponent's army down to 1/1s.

Oh this is serious... with the new art I WILL confuse it with a normal forest and attack a thousand times into it thinking I'll win, just for that pesky b**tch to come over and block... and granting my opponent the match

there shall be rage

The simplest combos with this gal are the best. Protean Hulk's death not only fetches you a few cool creatures but can pull every single one of these out of your deck on top of it...

Call me a weirdo, but I like the Future Sight border, art, and text box aesthetic over this copy. This card is easier to confuse with a Basic Forest, causing misplays. Besides, half of what was special about this card was the border it was printed in.

Who doesn't like watching couples make out in the woods?

But this has many uses: chump blocker, sac fodder, and maybe even make it fly? A flying tree nymph would be freakish.

A play I'd like to try at least once: On turn 1, play a Forest, then cast Green Sun's Zenith where X is 0, and fetch this. Practical? Not unless I have nothing better, and even then only in a casual game. But elegant? You bet.

@Ideatog: Which is why I would put this on the field with my creatures. Even if it looks like a land, it's also a creature and should be grouped with them. And if you have trouble teaching the concept of the mana pool, comparing it to money in a bank is a pretty simple way to get the point across.

how is this a mythic rare now? It was uncommon in Future Sight, and I hardly think it's awesome enough to be regular rare, not to mention mythic.

Sweet card, I love stuff that plays with overarching game mechanics like this (see snapcaster). Thinking about running it in my control zoo deck...although, do I want to lose a land to day of judgment?

@el_pared:
This reprint is in a special set called From the Vault: Realms. All cards in the sets are assigned a copper indicator, regardless of rarity. This is not a true rarity upgrade, as in the case of loxodon warhammer. Many promotional cards, such as those awarded at FNM and prereleases (not visible on gatherer for some reason?) are printed with copper symbols, yet they are not true mythics.

@Ideatog: It's even worse than that. I've seen comments on things like Llanowar Elves asking "Where do I get the extra forest this gives me from? Am I supposed to search one up from my deck?".

I prefer the Future Sight frame, but I love this art. It's a land and a creature, with the weaknesses of both. Best way I can think to play it is with something instant speed to drop a land into play, either to block or to get around summoning sickness.

@pyrotempest wing: cough*green sun's zenith for 0* cough.
@El_Pared: all the cards in the From the Vault sets are mythic, its not an acutal set.

I still wish they'd make another land creature only a 0/3 and it's a treefolk.

I'm far too afraid of mass removal to ever run this card.

@Totema: Yeah, that seems pretty cool; it's also the most common use for this card and part of the reason GSZ got banned in Modern.

Hmmm. Green Sun's Zenith and Aether Vial were both mentioned as ways of bringing this card into play. Neither will work since this creature doesn't have a cast cost. It isn't a zero cast cost creature card, it's a no cast cost land card.

Aether Vial.

EDIT: @elhajjaj: I'm afraid I have absolutely no idea what you meant. According to the rules (sorry for being that guy who quotes the rules):

300.2. Some objects have more than one card type (for example, an artifact creature). Such objects combine the aspects of each of those card types, and are subject to spells and abilities that affect either or all of those card types.

So despite not being able to cast Dryad Arbor, both of the cards you mentioned still bring it into play because it's a creature.

Fun fact: this is the only non-colorless land in the entirety of Magic.

@demidracolich: That maybe true but if you are looking up the community's favorite mythics, you tend to get drowned out by FTV commons and uncommons and it is annoying.

In contrast to the ugly Future Sight version of this card (ugly frame, so-so art), this version is easily one of the most beautiful MtG card. The art is superbe... on a beautiful modern frame... with the Forest symbol and no text to be seen, and the power/toughness indicator in the bottom right.

Beautifully simple and simply beautiful.

I used to hate this card and would dumb it down to a Forest that is extremely vulnerable to removal. But in the right decks, it is powerful.

This mechanic would've actually been awesome for Earth Elemental.

Fun fact: If you look closely at the picture, or if you look at Brad Rigney's (or Cryptwalker's on DeviantArt) Fullsize DeviantArt print picture (http://www.deviantart.com/art/Magic-the-Gathering-Dryad-Arbor-314779981), you can see two people on the right making out.
Well.

This could be copied and turn into a: Legendary Artifact Enchantment Creature Nonbasic Forest Mountain Plains Swamp Island Saproling Treefolk Elf Elemental Horror Mutant Angel Vampire Nightmare Zombie Demon Sliver Samurai Coward Warrior Spirit Beast Wall Shade Dragon Ninja Dryad of any/all colors. Take that Mutavault!

Life and Limb makes this a saproling.
Elvish Branchbender makes it a treefolk.
Master Biomancer makes it a mutant.
Ambush Commander makes it an elf.
Woodwraith Corrupter makes it black/green and an elemental horror.
Angelic Armaments, Angelic Destiny or Call to Serve makes it an angel.
Oni Possession makes this a demon spirit.
Mephidross Vampire (and quite a few other things like Captivating Vampire or Olivia Voldaren) makes it a vampire.
Dragonshift makes this a blue and red dragon.
Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver or Chainer, Dementia Master makes this a nightmare.
Grave Betrayal (and many other things like Lim-Dul, the Necromancer) makes this a zombie.
Hivestone makes this a sliver.
Sensei Golden Tail can train this into being a samurai.
Boldwyr Intimidator makes this a coward and/or warrior.
Genju of the Cedars makes this a spirit.
Vastwood Zendikon makes this an elemental.
Crusher Zendikon makes this red and a beast.
Corrupted Zendikon makes this black and an ooze.
Guardian Zendikon makes this a wall and white.
Wind Zendikon makes this blue and an elemental.
Conspiracy or Xenograft makes this whatever type you choose.

Indigo Faerie can make this blue.
Shade's Breath can make this a black shade.
Eight-and-a-Half-Tails can make this white.
Phyrexian Metamorph can copy this and be an artifact.
Sakashima's Student can copy this and be a ninja, as well.
Seance can target this to have the type spirit.
Aurification can target this to have the type wall and ability defender.
Phantasmal Image can copy this and be an illusion, as well.
Lazav, Dimir Mastermind or Sakashima the Imposter can copy this and make it legendary.

Prismatic Omen or Nylea's Presence makes this every basic land type.
as ever basic land type:
Koth of the Hammer can then make this a red elemental.
Fendeep Summoner can then make this a treefolk warrior.

Memnarch or Myr Landshaper makes this an artifact.
as an artifact:
Neurok Transmuter or Grand Architect can then make this blue.
Copy Artifact can then copy this and be an enchantment.

Enchanted Evening makes it an enchantment.

Personally, I could see how flavor-wise they make many more dryad forests. Stereotypical mythology states that is how dryads are.

@MattLynn: I believe some of the effects (such as Woodwraith Corrupter's) would overwrite some of the previous effects. If it had said "in addition to its other types," then maybe.

Also: 5/5 for flavor. I love the idea of land creatures, and I wish we had more. I understand how this supports Green, but with all the Elf decks I've seen, gosh.

Woopty doo. A land that can be destroyed with a lavadart.
